More news →When Madhuri Dixit chased Aamir Khan with a hockey stick
The 49-year-old actress told her fans on a micro blogging site that on the sets of the film, once, she actually chased Aamir with a hockey stick as he had played a prank on her. The film, which released on June 22, 1990, was one of the biggest musical blockbusters of that era. Madhuri also won the best actress award for it. The actress had played Aamir's interest in another film earlier, 'Deewana Mujh Sa Nahin'. Though it had a good opening, it did average business at the box office.
Madhura Sridhar produces Ladies and Gentlemen
Madhura Sridhar who earlier directed youthful films Sneha Geetam, Its My Love Story and Back Bench Student is now set to turn producer. He has announced his first production film titled Ladies and Gentlemen. Madhura Sridhar is introducing his associate Manjunath to Tollywood as director. MVK Reddy will co-produce it. The regular shooting works of the film will commence from October month. Raghu Kunche is roped in as music composer for this Shirdi Sai Combines banner movie. Sirasri will pen the lyrics, Jai will crank the camera and Nivaas will pen the dialogues.
Madhura Naranga' was originally meant for Prithviraj
Madhura Naranga' which will soon hit the screen was apparently meant for Prithviraj originally. The fact was revealed by the movie's scenarist Nishad Koya. He says that the story was first narrated to Prithviarj and that the actor had liked it. More discussion was scheduled after the scripting was completed. In the meanwhile, he was writing a script for Sugeeth and that did not work out. Sugeeth had already booked Kunchako Boban's date and Nishad could not find another story to replace the failed one. He then rewrote the one meant for Prithviraj to suit Chakochan. He adds that both Chakochan and Biju Menon who stars in Madhura Naranga are his friends.
'Manasugala Mathu Madhura' audio hits market
The Kannada film 'Manasugala Mathu Madhura' starring newcomer Anand and Haripriya audio cassettes and CD was released by veteran journalist P.G.Srinivasamurthy at Green House restaurant recently. Music director K.Kalyan's wife Aishwarya and two other new singers Divya and Archana have lent the voice for this film. Actor Anand an anchor in private satellite channel felt very happy for the good support extended to him in the debut. Actress Haripriya was absent to the audio release function. Director Manju Maskalmatti arranged for the screening of two songs of the film before the audio release function. Anand Audio Mohan has bought the rights of the film audio. Producer Kengeri Srinivas of 'MMM' is happy with the completion of the film and thanked his team for extending good cooperation. Director Manju Maskalmatti intends to release the film in the month of November 2007.
Madhur plans a sequel of Chandni Bar
In this era of sequels why should Madhur Bhandarkar be left behind? He is planning a sequel of award-winning film Chandni Bar and has tentatively titled it Chandni Bar 2. The idea struck him when recently Mumbai dance bars made news. Madhur has had an informal talk with Tabu who seemed to be very excited about the project. She was the protagonist, Mumtaz, in the original Chandni Bar. Madhur will make the movie only if Tabu agrees to act in it. Madhur Bhandarkar had won a National award for Chandni Bar. The film in the original ended when Mumtaz killed her son keeping it open for sequel.
Madhur, Farah, Manish Malhotra recognized
Triangle Media Group has recognized numerous Indian celebrities for their contribution to varied fields like cinema, fashion and literature. Selected to be placed in the Top 50 hot list of 2006/07 in the category of 'Film, Theatre & Drama' section, Onir, Sanjay Suri and Madhur Bhandarkar have been honored along with the likes of M Night Syamalan, Pan Nalin and Sonali Kulkarni amongst others. Other notable personalities are Farah Khan & Shabana Azmi who have been honored with the Global Ambassador's Honorary Award.
