'Magesh, Saranya Matrum Palar' off to the Alps

Its destination Switzerland for 'Magesh, Saranya Matrum Palar' unit. They would be leaving to the foreign land to shoot a couple of songs. The movie stars Sakthi and Sandhya and is directed by Ravi and is produced by Vikatan Talkies. The movie's shooting is almost complete. Interestingly, exotic locales of foreign shores seem to be beckoning Tamil film directors for a very long time now. It is not always the songs these days. Major portions in films of actors like Suriya, Vikram, Vijay and Prasanna are also to be shot abroad. Vijay is set to fly to Italy for 'Villu' directed by Prabhu Deva. 'Kanthaswamy' directed by Susi Ganesan in which Vikram and Shriya play the lead roles is being shot in Mexico. K V Anand's 'Ayan' features Suriya and Tamanna and is also being shot abroad, industry sources say.

Mahesh, Saranya: A love sans villain

There is a strong conception in Kollywood that action roles alone could make a star popular in A, B, and C centers. That is why we see almost all young stars trying to make an impact in action sequences. Shakthi, director P. Vasu's son, seems to be different. He debuted in 'Thottal Poo Malarum', which had its share of 'action' sequences. His second venture, however, has no fight. The love story doesn't even have a villain in any form. There is no one to oppose the love between Shakthi and Sandhya in 'Mahesh, Saranya Matrum Palar', directed by P.V. Ravi. Cool Productions, which produced 'Pidichchirukku' produces this pleasant love story. Though the movie is being shot in Kumbakonam, Thanjavore, and Chennai, the unit is planning to go to Australia for the song sequences. The movie, which portrays the sublime nature of the love, has the pleasant music of Vidyasagar. 'Mahesh, Saranya Matrum Palar' is slated for June release.

Mahesh Bhatt to Aamir: Fanaa For You

Mahesh Bhatt is known to be a man who doesn't think twice before walking on the paths never traveled before. An activist-by-choice, Bhatt has always supported Bollywood in its time of need. And at many an occasion, people he has defended didn't belong to his own school of thought. True to his image, he joined hands with Aamir Khan and pledged support for him in his tussle with the 'Fascist Forces' in Gujarat who've been advocating a hate-campaign against Aamir's latest film Fanaa. Mahesh Bhatt will be filing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against the Gujarat Government in the Supreme Court today in support of Aamir. When the political parties launched a scathing attack on Aamir, Bhatt sent a Text Message to him and they spoke. It is notable that Bhatt and Khan hadn't spoken to each other for eight years after the 'differences' between them during the shooting of Ghulam. Earlier, they've worked together on hit films like Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke and Dil Hai Ki Maanta Hi Nahin. In the meanwhile, Fanaa is breaking Box Office Records as it has hit the jack pot with a booty of Rs 12 Crore in first four days in India. It has been declared as the first Complete Universal Hit since Gadar-Ek Prem Katha as it has uniformly done well in all the territories. Even in Bihar where an Ajay Devgan rules the roost and Khans haven't had a conventional stronghold, Kunal Kohli's unconventional love saga is witnessing unprecedented response at the ticket window. If the indications are to be believed then it shall be the second biggest hit Yash Raj film after Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. In the overseas territory, Fanaa shall find a place amongst top five films ever and it is all set to be Aamir Khan's biggest hit abroad. It's time to 'go fida' over Fanaa.

Mahesh Bhatt: I was Jealous

Mahesh Bhatt is at his best when he Looks-Within. 'Arth', 'Janam' and 'Zakhm' continue to remain his best works till date as they spoke about his personal life. He is pushing the envelope once again with 'Woh Lamhe' which is a semi autobiographical account of his intimate relationship with actress Parveen Babi who passed away last year. Bhatt in a freewheeling account of his relationship with Babi in a tabloid had recently admitted how jealous he felt when Parveen was being wooed by a superstar. He also said that the relationship was sexual in nature and maybe because of that the hurt was even more. Mahesh was one of the very few who was present at the funeral ceremony of Parveen last year. He never shied away from admitting that Babi suffered from Schizophrenia and was difficult to deal with. Somehow he seems to have made a perfect casting in 'Gangster' Maul Kangana Ranaut for playing Babi. Other than having somewhat similarity in terms of drop-dead-gorgeous looks, Kangana is also exuding that raw sexual vulnerability that made Parveen so appealing. Shiney Ahuja is also cast perfectly for playing Bhatt himself as his brooding intensity reeks of a smouldering volcano that can burst any time. The promo of 'Woh Lamhe', directed by Mohit Suri ('Zeher' and 'Kalyug') accounts for a stylishly shot film that has a haunting track playing in the background. It seems the music of the film will be better than their last outing 'Killer'. People have a lot of expectations from Bhatt camp music and it has been one of the main reasons in their success. In the 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna', 'Don', 'Jaaneman' and 'Umrao Jaan' of the world, 'Woh Lamhe' may prove to be a dark horse and emerge a winner at the Box Office. After all, the public is ready for the 'different' ind of cinema.
