Aamir completes his ritual for the new film

Whether it is a movie in which Aamir Khan is the hero, a film which he is producing or a film which he is producing as well as acting, the trade mark elements will be as usual. The variety that people can expect and which the superstar makes sure is there and there is one more task that can't be done away with. A Meeting up of Aamir Khan with the original rebel star of Bollywood, Shammi Kappor for fulfilling a task or just to seek the senior actor's blessings for each of his new project. In 1988 Aamir Khan got the blessing of Shammi Kappor before his first film 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak'. The start almost 20 years ago turned out to a journey into becoming one of the most appreciated lead actors in Bollywood and now being hailed as Mr. Perfectionist as well as a film maker. This time Aamir did it for his nephew Imran who is all set to start his own hard trip. The actor keeping up to his regular way of seeking the veteran Bollywood actor's good wishes for each of his new project combined meeting up Shammi Kapoor who also happens to be a long time family friend of Aamir Khan's family with the music launch of Imran Khan's debut film 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na'. Earlier there were speculations were there about high profile music launch of the film but The B-Town star preferred the function to be simple and down to earth by releasing the audio by presenting the audio CD of the music composed by A.R.Rahman to Shammi Kapoor at his residence. The relationship of Aamir's family and Shammi Kapoor go a long way back right from the time of classics films of the veteran hero like 'Teesri Manzil and 'Tumsa Nahi Dekha' produced by Aamir's uncle Nasir Hussain who also is the new kid on the block Imran Khan's grand father. The simplicity of the new film is touted to bring back the nostalgia of the cult romantic film 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak'. Aamir Khan also forced back Mansoor Khan from his sabbatical to take care of the production of his nephew's launch vehicle when he was away shooting for 'Gajini' and is said to be very careful in choosing and executing every other creative aspect of 'Janne Tu Ya Jaane Na'. Imran Khan, u sure is a lucky guy to be born as this Bollywood Star's nephew.

All about Aamir-The ace Khan

Aamir Khan began his life in films at a very young age. He debuted as a child artiste with Nasir Hussain's Yaadon Ki Baaraat. He also assisted Nasir Hussain for the two films Manzil Manzil and Zadardast and he then assisted Ketan Mehta who directed him for Holi. Soon after that, he hooged the limelight when he debuted in the lead role for Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. The film also marked the directorial debut of his cousin and friend Mansoor Khan. He soon revealed that he had got married to his long time beloved Reena. As regards career, his graph seemed to be steady and on the rise. He delivered successive hits with Dil, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Rangeela, Raja Hindustani, Sarfarosh, Ghulam, 1947 ' Earth and so on and so forth. Aamir also went on to do films with the likes of Mansoor Khan, Indra Kumar, Dharmesh Darshan and Mahesh Bhatt. He is a complete professional, dedicated and thorough to the extent of making his costars crib and complain about working with him as they find it a bit too 'demanding.' After proving his mettle in film after film, Aamir has got the tag of being an outstanding actor who challenges the norms and accepted conventions in the film industry in his own unique way. Though Aamir is meticulous and careful about his work that he does with passion, there is something that he is not too fond of. And that is keeping his privacy at stake. After Lagaan, the 19th century period film, people sat up and took more notice of this ace actor. He slowly became a name to reckon with in every household, what with his passion for films, penchant for unconventional roles, courage and conviction to say and do the right, diligence and of course, his intellect. Though this die-hard perfectionist and highly opinionated actor holds no significance for award functions held by print and television media, he firmly believes that refuting a National award is impertinent. That's what we said, opinionated. But it also shows that he is someone who speaks his mind and what you see is simply what you get! He, then, lives his life on his own terms.

Sudhir Mishra: Reinterpreting Cinema

He is a quintessential thinking man's film maker and his latest award winning film Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi has made the Film Industry proud. Meet Sudhir Mishra in a new light 'There is an awesome amount of talent in India, but our film industry has to be freed from the clutches of intellectually bankrupt feudal masters who can't think beyond the Star System,' says critically acclaimed director Sudhir Mishra whose much-applauded film Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi won recognition all over the world. Mishra is a filmmaker with an impressive repertoire of films like Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin Dharavi, Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi, Chameli and Calcutta Mail. He added a new dimension recently when Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms agreed to produce the remaking of his first film Yeh Woh Manzil to Nahin. 'It was the first film that I made on a limited budget with class actors like Habib Tanvir and Pankaj Kapoor. I want to reinterpret the two characters involved in a student movement in a small town.' After Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi, in Bahut Nikle Mere Armaan, he has once again taken a line from a popular Ghalib Couplet. 'I am from Lucknow and obviously Urdu poetry comes naturally to me. Ghalib is part our heritage. If you are in Bengal, then obviously you'll be influenced by Tagore. Similarly, when you are in Lucknow, you are bound to be influenced by Ghalib,' he justifies. He is still in the process of finalizing the cast of Bahut Nikle Mere Armaan and except for Shiny Ahuja (The actor whom he introduced in Hazaron'and the actor who won all the best debutante trophies this year), rest of the cast is yet to be finalized. For a man who has always narrated original story ideas, Sudhir Mishra is upset with film makers who cry hoarse about piracy. 'It's a case of pot calling the kettle black. So many Indian films are direct lifts of foreign films. If you don't respect the copyright of others, then why will you be taken seriously? There's too much mediocrity and there's no option other than the greedy makers filching from DVDs. Maybe a CEO like culture and with more Corporates coming in, it shall make things better,' he says. He is also of the opinion that the Government of India should take the Indian Film Industry more seriously. According to him, little or nothing is done for the betterment of the stature of our films. 'Film Industry is not merely an industry. It is a cultural investment for long periods. Maybe something should be done for the state of cartoon or animation films in India as our children blindly follow and ape the American cartoons. Childhood is a very impressionable age. What is true for American culture need not be true for Indian culture.' And would he like to do a typical commercial film with song and dance routine? 'I find nothing wrong with song and dance routine. What is wrong is bad aesthetics, vulgarity, crudity, giving credence to loafer mentality and presenting women in a sick way. I don't want to be part of such films,' Mishra says defiantly. We rounded up by noting the list of his favourite film makers and actors. ' Shekhar Kapoor, Ketan Mehta, Anurag Kashyap, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Vinod Chopra, Aziz Mirza and Farhan Akhtar. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has the potential of making a great film some day if he stops being clever. Amongst the actors, I like Rani Mukherjee, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Chitrangada, Sanjay Dutt, Shiny Ahuja, Vivek Oberoi and Ajay Devgan.'

Little known facts about RD Burman

Pancham introduced the twin track effect in 'Baharon Ke Sapne', which he later used to create the mesmerizing 'Qatra Qatra Miltee Hai' [Ijaazat] and a few more songs. He also pioneered the use of electronic organ in Indian Films with the song 'O Mere Sona Re' [Teesri Manzil] RD was, as Gulzar says, as good a craftsman as a musician. In 'Chura Liya' he used the sound of a spoon hitting a glass For the 'Kitaab' song, 'Master Ji Ki Aa Gayee Chitthhi', he brought some desks from a classroom in the studio while recording and used them as a percussion In 'Abdullah' he used the sound of a bamboo whistle with a balloon tied to it for a song Once to get the sound of raindrops, he spent the whole rainy night in his house's balcony recording the sound he wanted In the song 'O Manjhi Re' from the movie 'Khushboo', RD Burman used bottles with water filled at different levels and created a hollow sound by blowing into them and this sound effect was used with the orchestra During the recording of 'Hum Dono Do Premi' [Ajnabee] the musicians were on strike. So he improvised the song with emptied-out musical interludes and just listen the song Out of his 331 released movies 292 were in Hindi, 31 in Bangla, 3 in Telugu, 2 each in Tamil & Oriya and 1 in Marathi. RD also composed for 5 TV serials in Hindi and Marathi. He also scored a large number of non-film songs in Bangla [also known as Pooja songs or modern songs], which are available in different albums. He did a song for a small documentary film called 'Maa Ki Pukar' too, in 1975. Starting independent music company in 1961 with 'Chote Nawab', he did 331 films and 4 non-film albums. Before coming onto his own, he assisted his father S.D. Burman for long. Dada Burman used Pancham's tune 'Ae meri topee palat ke aa' in 'Fantoosh'. Pancham was only 9 when he composed the tune. For Pyaasa, SD used his son's 'Sar Jo Tera Chakraye', which became a huge hit Amit Kumar, Abhijeet and Shabbir Kumar were given their first breaks by Pancham R.D. Burman made his acting debut in Mehmood's 'Bhoot Bangla'. Later in 'Pyaar Ka Mausam' toohe gave a hilarious performance as Mr. Popat Lal. R.D played the mouth organ for his friends Laxmikant Pyarelal in a song in 'Dosti' and also in a movie for Kalyanji Anandji. The mouth organ played in the song 'Hai Apna Dil To Awara' sung by Hemant Kumar in the film 'Solva Saal' is played by RD Burman himself Both Lata and Bhupinder won a National Award for the song 'Beeti Na Bitaaye Raina' from 'Parichay', and this song was composed in a hotel room in no time R.D. Burman won the Filmfare award only 3 times [Sanam Teri Kasam, Masoom, 1942-A Love Story] while being nominated 16 times for the award
