More news →After 'Mastizaade', Milap Zaveri's next to be family comedy
Director Milap Zaveri, who has come up with some explicit content for his film "Mastizaade" will next make a family comedy "Mubaraka". "I'll be directing a film which is a family comedy, not an adult comedy. It's an entertainer and is called 'Mubaraka'... it's too soon to speak on it since the casting and other details are being finalized. It's produced by Ashwin Warde, who is the producer of 'Boss' and 'The Shaukeens', and Murad Khetani," said Zaveri at the trailer review of "Mastizaade". Zaveri has previously scripted the sex comedies such as the three parts of the "Masti" franchise. One of the reasons for him to attempt the family comedy genre in his next is that with "Mastizaade", he feels the adult comedy genre has reached its maximum limit. "What we've achieved in 'Mastizaade' is the peak. I don't think any film can achieve more than 'Mastizaade' in the genre of adult comedy. Any upcoming film won't have more masala than this and that is something I can guarantee," he said. Asked if adult comedy has more scope, he replied: "Sometimes a path is created but it has only one direction. When such a path is created, it's not like a freeway from where you can go to different places. "This path has opened up till this level. I don't know if it can open more but if it does open, it's great because creativity should not be controlled." About his Sunny Leone starrer, he said: "Hopefully if it does well, I'll make 'Mastizaade' part 2." The teaser of "Mastizaade" has already gone viral for its dialogue and Sunny's sizzling costumes.
Wouldn't have done 'Mastizaade' with anyone else than Sunny: Vir Das
Stand-up comedian-turned-actor Vir Das says that he wouldn't have done sex comedy "Mastizaade" if any actress other than Sunny Leone would've been cast opposite him. "What I enjoyed the most working with Sunny is that she hasn't done comedy till now but she is genuinely very funny. Our track gave us the chance to do a lot of really cool comedy." said Vir at a press conference for the film. "And after watching the film, that's what you'll talk about... that she is legitimately very funny. I would not have done this film if any other actress was on board," he added. Considering Sunny with a tag of a pornstar-turned- actress and the fact that she is easily more popular than Vir, were there any apprehensions? "I don't think about these things. I'm a pretty secure guy in my fan base and talent. The reason I did the film is because I like being opposite a strong actor with a presence. Being opposite a huge star is a cool thing," he replied. The teaser of the film has already been unveiled and the trailer of the film is all set to be launched on Wednesday. Vir, who gained popularity as a stand-up comedian, had initially started out with insubstantial roles in "Namastey London", "Love Aaj Kal" among others but then received good characters in "Badmaash Company", "Delhi Belly", and "Go Goa Gone". He even essayed the lead roles in films like "Amit Sahni Ki List". "I love comedy, comedy is my life. But I haven't done this genre of comedy before. I've never done a commercial masala film. And I've been waiting since years for that perfect package - good script, actress, director - this came together very nicely," he said. "My career has been like working in a company where you get promotion every year. I started with one scene in a film, then two, then five, then supporting characters and now characters like these," he added. "Mastizaade" has been produced by Pritish Nandy and Rangita Pritish Nandy.
Whatever we shot for 'Mastizaade' is not wrong: Sunny Leone
Indo-Canadian adult film star Sunny Leone, who will soon be seen in sex comedy film “Mastizaade”, says the film director made her feel so comfortable that she never felt "wrong" shooting for the movie. "Every actor and actress have their own dos and don'ts and in this film ('Mastizaade'), there were lots of don't but me and Milap Zaveri (the director of the film) sat together and decided what we can do. He made me so comfortable. “I feel whatever we shot for 'Mastizaade' is not wrong and I am not worried about people's reaction towards me,” she added. Co-produced by Pritish Nandy and Rangita Pritish Nandy, "Mastizaade" will release on January 29. The film also features Tusshar Kapoor and Vir Das, among others. Sunny feels that people have different perceptions about her but she never took it seriously. "If people think I can do anything onscreen then that's a natural thing for them to think. I can't do anything about that. As an actor when you start putting limitations, you don't have an open mind to explore."
Didn't want 'Hate Story 3', 'Mastizaade' to clash: Tusshar Kapoor
Actor Tusshar Kapoor says his film "Mastizaade" was delayed due to distribution issues, and he did not want it to clash with "Hate Story 3" at the box office. Asked if issues with the censor board was the reason behind the delay, Tusshar clarified: "We got our censor certificate long back, we got delayed as some distribution issues were there, we didn't want 'Hate Story 3' and 'Mastizaade' to come on the same day. It was a mutual decision between the producers." "It's now coming on January 29. Yes, it's been delayed from December to January, but a month's delay is not that much," Tusshar said at the GQ Fashion Nites. While Vishal Pandya's "Hate Story 3", starring Zareen Khan, Karan Singh Grover, Daisy Shah and Sharman Joshi is touted as a sex thriller, Milap Zaveri's "Mastizaade" is a sex comedy and it stars Sunny Leone in a double role along with Vir Das. A video teaser of "Mastizaade" with Sunny Leone in a bikini and stressing that her character's name was Laila Lele while holding bananas has gone viral. Pictures of Tusshar and Vir from the film -- which had a sexual context -- were also released. Reports said the censor board had issues due to the same and got an A certificate only in August.
