More news →'Varasudhara' Completes Major Schedule
The maiden direction of Star Creators Guru Deshpande has completed 28 days of talkie portion featuring Ravi Belegere, Sandeep, Ashwini, Suchendra Prasad, Dattanna and others in and around Bangalore. Sanjana the actress of 'Ganda Hendathi and a boy friend' is appearing in a song and some talkie portions of this film. For the song portion director Guru Deshpande is leaving to Badami, Bijapur and Belgaum surroundings. Inspired from the writings of famous tabloid editor of 'Hai Bangalor' Ravi Belegere director Guru Deshpande is focusing on the terrorism and underworld connivance in this film. In the dialogue portions Ravi Belegere has been very useful for me. Such a busy man has worked for 18 days so far complimented Guri Deshpande speaking to media persons at 'Masala' restaurant on the outskirts of Bangalore. Guru Despahnde traveled thousands of kilometers to trace the spots for his film song shooting in Karnataka. He has also finished 25 percent of the editing so far.
Month of major films
The last month of the year 2007 December is going to have a real battle in the box office of big star films in Kannada. The paucity of theatres on the one side and economy factor of the audience is not looked in to. There are films set for release of all the major stars in Kannada cinema in this month. Dr.Vishnuvardhana, Darshan, Jayaprada starring 'Yee Bandhana' debut direction of Vijayalakshmi Singh that has been re-shot to prove that it is not a remake of 'Baghban' is the ambition project of producer Jai Jagdeesh who is badly in need of a major breakthrough. He has lost nearly Rs.5 crores from his earlier films like 'Kanchanaganga, Adhi, Kathegalu Saar Kathegalu and Madhana. Jai Jagdeesh also a famous actor has to survive from 'Yee Bandhana'. He has plans to release the film on 14th December 2007 Producer Prabhakar's very careful attempt 'Lav Kush' with two major box office heroes Shivarajkumar and Upendra also starring Jennifer Kotwal and Charmee is all set to release with 50 prints on 14th of December 2007. Sai Prakash is the director and Gurukiran has scored the music for 'Lav Kush'. The much expected 'Preethi Eke Bhoomi Melidhe' the debut in acting by hat trick director Prem for Ashwini Productions is releasing with 99 prints all over Karnataka on 14th of December. That means to say for 14th of this month three big films are out in the middle to prove their mettle! Darshan, Navya Nair and Sindhu Tholani starring 'Gaja' is expected to conquer the silver screen on 7th of December 2007. After the moderate hit in 'Snehana Preethina' and a few flops behind him Darshan is eagerly looking for marvelous results in the box office. Superstar Shivarajkumar's 'Satya In Love' starring Genelia as his counterpart for the first time producer Ramesh and debutant director Raghav Loki is expected to come on the last week of December 2007. Vijaya Raghavendra and Madhumitha starring 'Naanu Neenu Jodi' by creative director N.R.Nanjunde Gowda hitting the screen in the third week of December according to reliable sources. SPR productions maiden venture 'Gaalipata' in Kannada directed by Yogaraj Bhat of 'Mungaru Male' (starring Ganesh and Pooja Gandhi) is releasing on 30th of December because on 29th of December 2006 Yogaraj Bhat's 'Mungaru Male' release clicked immensely making Rs.50 crore businesses for first time producer E.Krishnappa. Yogaraj Bhat and team are eager for release of 'Gaalipata' starring golden star Ganesh, Rajesh, Diganth, Neethu, Daisy Boppanna, Bhavana Rao and Ananthnag in the lead roles on 30th of December. Puneeth Rajkumar and Hansika Motwani film 'Bindhaas' produced by Chandrasekhar the 50th directorial venture of D.Rajendra Babu, 'Ghooli' starring Sudeep and Mamata Mohan Das of producer Ramu and director P.N.Sathyaa are ready for Pongal release in January 2008.
Raj Kiran is a Mayor now
Post Thavamai Thavamirundhu, Raj Kiran's career has been on the upward swing. His subsequent films including Kireedam and Thottal Poo Malarum have done well at the box office. Now he has been assigned to play the role of a city Mayor in a movie titled Managara Thanthai. Managara Thanthai would be directed by Rajkrishna and a search is on to identify actors and actresses for other roles. Meanwhile, Raj Kiran is acting with Taraka Ratna, the grandson of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N T Rama Rao in a movie titled Pagadai. Known to be choosy of his roles, Raj Kiran is donning the character of Bhagwan, a jail convict in Pagadai.
Major production houses eyeing Katrina
It's a known fact that Katrina is the only actress to have had four back to back hits last year'€”Namastey London, Apne, Partner and Welcome. And this year begins with Race that is all set to hit the theatres soon. Her two tracks 'Touch Me' and 'Sexy Lady' have her gyrating seductively to have viewers' eyes popping out of their sockets. The songs have topped the list and Katrina has become the talk of the town. Looking at the curiosity that 'Touch Me' had generated, director duo Abbas and Mustan shot 'Sexy Lady' with Katrina and Saif. So impressed was producer Ramesh Taurani with Katrina-Saif track that it was included in the audio CD too. Meanwhile, Katrina's Rs 6 cr deal with Studio 18 has generated interest amongst other A-list production houses which are looking at cracking similar contract with her.
Major Sundararajans son into production
Remember Goutham. He is the son of veteran actor Major Sundararajan. Goutham had acted in a few films besides establishing himself as successful choreographer. Now the actor-cum-choreographer is planning to venture to film production. Goutham will produce a film titled Aiyandham Padai. Director-turned-actor Sundar C will play the hero in the movie. Badri, who directed Sundar C for Veerappu recently, will wield the megaphone again. Search is on for heroines.
Major portions of I wrapped up: Shankar
Shankar’s directorial I starring Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead roles will begin new schedule shoot from tomorrow. The film has already wrapped 75% of the shooting and recently the unit has filmed in the places of Bangalore, Mysore and Chennai. Shankar has written about the film’s status in his online blog. The Mega director said, “It’s been a year since we started shooting for ‘Ai’ and technically it is taking its own time for Vikram’s physical change, scanning, molding and for preparing prosthetic make up materials, but I believe it’s worth the wait.” The director is all praises for Vikram, “An eye riveting make up for Vikram was done by Sean Foot and Davina Lamont, and Vikram proved he’s a great actor once again. Now we’ve completed 75% of the movie and going for the next schedule in a couple of days.”
