Daniel Balaji in 'Mazhai Vara Pokuthu'

Ace Malayalam director Lal Jose will take a break from Malayalam cinema for a while, and is starting work on his debut Tamil venture. The film titled 'Mazhai Vara Pokuthu' will tell the story of a rustic village in Tamilnadu that longs for rains. The movie based on a plot by Lal Jose will be scripted by James Albert who has created two big hits in Mollywood, Classmates and Cycle. Daniel Balaji will play the lead role for the first time with 'Mazhai Vara Pokuthu'. Lal Jose is finalizing the other cast and crew of this venture and will start shooting in a couple of months.

Bharath to pair with Mazhai Rajkumar

The veteran director Naveen Rajkumar, who introduced the beautiful actress Shriya to Tamil cinema with his film ‘Mazhai’, is again back to kollywood. After directing ‘Mazhai’ in Tamil, Rajkumar went to tollywood and now after a quite gap he is back with a film titled ‘Modhal’ that will have Bharath in the lead role. Director Rajkumar says that after hearing the script, Bharath has given continuous 45 days schedule for the film to finish it in a quick time. The movie will go on floors from March 20 in Bangalore.

Shooting starts for 'Chennaiyil Oru Mazhai Kaalam'

Ace director Gautham Menon takes up the nature of the prevailing youth culture in the cosmopolitan city of Chennai in his next film 'Chennaiyil Oru Mazhai Kaalam'. Gautham, who has finished up the work on 'Varanam Aayiram' starring Suriya will start the shooting of his latest movie today. The story of the film takes its shape from the call centre life of the city and the leading lady and the most experienced among the new actors Trisha plays the role of a girl working in a call centre. Satish who was last seen in the movie 'Unnale Unnale' plays an important role in this new film. The film while showing the IT culture of the city also will portray the life experienced by the employees during the night shifts. The health and family problems faced by the call centre professionals will also have its say in the new urban film. The film has songs composed by the music maestro A.R.Rahman and is produced by P Madan and J Ganesh under the Escape Artist Motion Pictures Banner. Art direction is by Rajeevan. Although Chennai is a hub of lots of leading call centers in India and a vast number of the present day youth who are also a part of the strong film crazy youngsters who represent the majority of the film audience works in the call centers and IT companies, not many films have come out of Kollywood which shows the life of this community till now. Given the skills of Gautham Menon a fantastic film that shows all the sides of the kind of life led by the youngsters as well as their attitude towards life can be expected.

Guinness records Sivappu Mazha releases today

There are no major top heroes’ movies hitting the screens today. Only the Tamil film ‘Sivappu Mazhai’, which was made in 11 days, 23 hours and 45 minutes breaking the Guinness world records is hitting the silver screens today. The film features newcomer Suresh Joachim and Meera Jasmine in the lead roles. It is directed by Krishnamoorthy. But sources say “Last week’s release Paiyaa is turning out to be a hit and it is sure going to become bigger. It has no opposition and is the automatic first preference among the family audiences for the holiday season ahead.” Let’s hope the movie to get good openings!

SATYA cinematographer Mazhar Kamran debuts as director with MOHANDAS

Mazhar Kamran's directorial debut Black comedy 'Mohan Das' starring Sonali Kulkarni, Nakul Vaid, Sushant Singh, Sharbani Mukherjee, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Uttam Haldar, Aditya Shrivastav, Akhilendra Mishra and Govind Namdeo, has moved into premixing and music mixing. Mazhar Kamran, noted cinematographer for successful films like Satya, Kaun, Jhankar Beats and Masti, has turned a director with his forthcoming film Mohandas. This film deals with problems of common man and treats it with open satire. Screenplay of the film is by Uday Prakash, Music is by Vivek Priyadarshan and Lyrics is VK Sonakia and Yash Malviya, Cinematography is by Mazhar Kamran, Editor is Suresh Pai and Art Director is Jayant Deshmukh.
