Meenakshi, who made her debut in Tamil with Karuppasamy Kuthagaitharar will romance Sundar C for her next film. The young actress from Kolkata, won appreciation for her maiden venture. She played the female lead opposite Karan. She is now assigned to play Sundar C's heroine in Perumal. Directed by Vincent Selvah, Perumal features Sundar C, Namitha in lead roles. Meenakshi has now been roped in to play the second heroine. Vincent Selvah says, "Both Namitha and Meenakshi have enough scope to perform. It is not a triangular love story."
Meenakshi - Heroine with a difference
Director Samy who made 'Mirugam' is coming up with his next film titled 'Sarithiram'. The search for the heroine was on for a very long time across the length and breadth of India in vain. A condition set by the director made finding the right heroine that much difficult. The director was absolutely adamant that the heroine should be an expert of 'Silambattam' before shooting can commence. Finally actress Meenakshi of 'Karuppusamy Kuthigaikarar' fame has come to the director's rescue. The actress is prepared to learn the art of 'Silambattam' and is up to the project. Meenakshi, it seems had been waiting for the right script to come across and didn't want to be part of any run of the mill project. The whole idea of learning Silambattam has fascinated her and has remarked that not only is she willing to learn the traditional art, but also is open to learning a lot more skills if it can make her a good artiste. Her commitment sure is laudable. It should be good to see a demure girl get on with the bamboo stick with precision.
Meenakshi to play a baddie
Meenakshi rose to fame after her performance in 'Karuppusamy Kuthagaikarar' where she was paired with Karan. Industry sources say that a Hindi film 'Taxi Number 9211' is to be remade in Tamil with Pasupathi, Ajmal, Simran and Meenakshi in lead roles. The Tamil version of the Hindi film that starred Nana Patekar as the taxi driver will be played by Pasupathi. John Abraham's role is taken up by Ajmal. Meenakshi is paired with Ajmal and the character is supposed to take negative shades towards the end of the film. Meenakshi is not perturbed by this at all. She states in a matter-of-fact way that she features throughout the film and the character she plays is a very absorbing one with scope for a mighty good performance. Sameera Reddy played this role in the original version. Meenakshi goes on to add 'I am the heroine of the film 'Perumal' with Sundar C. as hero. There are only three more days of shooting left for this film and will release next month. I am also currently indulging in talks for a Hindi film'.
Meenakshi in, Keerath out
Actress Meenakshi has replaced Keerath to play the female lead in 'Agam Puram', a movie to be directed by 'Thee Nagar' fame Thirumalai. 'Agam Puram' features Shaam in the lead role and the shooting for the film would begin shortly. It may be recalled that Thirumalai's maiden venture 'Thee Nagar' starring Karan went on to become an average grosser. Initially Keerath Bhattal was signed to play the female lead. However she has been replaced by Meenakshi at the last moment. Let's see if Shaam and Meenakshi can make the screen sizzle.
