Meena's moment

Finally, Meena is all set to appear in a mega-serial. The once preferred heroine of Kollywood, who had acted with several popular actors including Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan and Vijayakanth, Meena has recently got down to the small screen. She hosted a game show in Jaya TV. Rumors were abuzz that she would soon appear in a mega-serial. And the rumors have come true. Meena is appearing for the title song of a mega-serial to be aired in Sun TV soon. Titled Lakshmi, the serial's title song would feature Meena. The song sequence was recently shot. However whether Meena is acting or not in the serial is kept as a secret.

Meena makes a beginning

After testing the waters of the small screen by hosting a game show successfully in a prominent Tamil satellite channel, Meena now forays to act in a mega-serial on Sun TV. Meena plays a bold Brahmin girl, who fights evil against women in the society in a mega-serial titled Lakshmi directed by Sundar K Vijayan and produced by Sujatha Vijayakumar. Says Meena, 'I was not forced to enter small screen. Even now, I have offers coming my way in Malayalam. Since I was impressed with the script narrated by Sundar K Vijayan, I accepted to act in Lakshmi'. Asked whether she had any regrets on acting in a mega-serial, she said, 'I know it is time consuming. But I don't find any difference between the silver screen and the television. I enjoy acting whatever be the medium is'.

Meena on denial mode

Meena, a once popular heroine, has now settled down for television serials. A section of press had carried reports on Monday that she was going steady with a Kannada actor and she would marry him soon. Meena, currently shooting for the tele-serial, was immediately flooded with anxious calls. A smiling Meena denied the news as rumors. According to her, 'I have been part of a couple of movies starring Sudeep in Kannada. Unfortunately some media organizations have gone to town saying that my wedding is arranged.' Going further, Meena, says, 'I am still a busy actress. I am doing a Malayalam film with Mammootty and a couple of Kannada movies. More ever it would be an arranged wedding for me. My mother is on the job'.

Meena finds Malluwood comfy

Meena has found solace in Malayalam. At a time when heroines from Malluwood are making hay in Tamil, Meena has managed to take a leap into Malayalam filmdom. Once popular in Malayalam, Meena made a recent comeback with Mammootty's Karutha Pakshigal. She plays a cameo in the movie. Now even before the movie could release, she has bagged a plump role in a Suresh Gopi starrer. Meena plays Suresh Gopi's heroine in director Vinayan's Black Cat. Says Meena, 'I am happy to get good offers in Kannada and Malayalam. I am in no mad rush to accept movies. I choose them by merit.' Meena nurses the same ambition that many of her contemporaries do. She wants to win the National Award for best actress one day.

Meena plays Gopikas mother

Meena is busy these days in Malayalam. The once-popular heroine of Tamil cinema who acted opposite the likes of Kamal Hassan, Rajinikanth, Vijayakanth and Sarath Kumar, is now playing a dual role in a Malayalam movie. Interestingly, Meena plays mother to Gopika in the movie. The movie is being directed by Sunder Dass. 'I don't mind playing mother's role. Since the role is very challenging and has enough scope for me to perform, I took it as a challenge,' says Meena. She is also acting in a couple of Kannada movies besides a tele-serial in Tamil.

Meena opposite Shaam

Shaam, who is back on track in Tamil with a couple of big ventures like Inba and Thoondil in his kitty, is foraying to Malayalam with a film titled Koodaram. Directed by a debutant Sudharshan, the movie is a romantic entertainer which would have two heroines opposite Shaam. Buzz is that Meena has been cast as one of the heroines and the actress readily agreed to be part of the movie after she listened to the story. Efforts are on to convince a popular actress in Malayalam to play the second heroine. Shaam is thrilled to enter Malayalam. 'Language is no barrier to art. If you are honest and sincere in what you do, success will follow you', he says philosophically.
