The curly haired petite Meera Vasudevan mesmerized the audiences with her very first film 'Rules:Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula' in 2003. The actress was an overnight sensation and offers from big wigs kept pouring in. She was even one of the strong favorites for the most promising actress of the year. Since Meera believes in sticking to her roots and culture, she didn't give in to movies that would require her to dance around a pole or be skimpily clad. The actress took it real steady and in 2007 was pitched in for Ken Ghiosh's 'Chain Khuli Ki Mein Khuli' alongside Rahul Bose. Then much later came 'Thodi Life Thodi Magic'. Though the film bombed at the box office, Meera walked away with rave reviews such that even the likes of Ashutosh Gowarikar expressed his views of the same. Now with awards for best Tamil actress and awards for her performance as Mohanlal's wife in the path breaking 'Thanmatra', Meera is set to repeat this with bollywood. Though there are immense substantial roles pouring in from the big wigs of the south, Meera is all set to hit it big in bollywood. She still believes that in an era of sex bombs such as Bipasha Basu and Kareena Kapoor , there is still enough room for her. It has also been reported that a few bollywood producers and corporates have expressed their interested in this petite damsel from the south. Here's wishing Meera all the best!
Meera wants a long innings
Meera Chopra maybe a bit confused at this stage. Her feeling must be bitter sweet now. She is happy that Bangaram, her first movie in Telugu, is almost ready. But her troubles in Tamil may not allow her to enjoy it fully. Meera Chopra, the beautiful Punjabi girl, knows that the good show in Bangaram may take her places. She says the film has come out well with Dharini, the director, handling it with poise. Meera is happy that she has managed to act with a star like Pawan in her first movie itself. Meera is not concerned that she had to share frames with other actresses like Reema Sen and Trisha in the movie. Meera is also doing a film with Nitin under the direction of Siddique Lal and produced by Srinivasa Raju. Meera wants a long innings in Telugu. The portents are there already.
Meera proves many wrong
Meera Jasmine no special introduction to Telugu audience. She is one heroine who has proved that glamour need not be the sole weapon in an actress repertoire. Despite being beautiful in a cuddly sort of way, Meera does not possess any of the curvaceous delights. She is also averse to exposure and glamour. But Meera has managed to survive not just in Telugu but is also one of the top heroines in Tamil and Malayalam. Meera, a National award winning actress, is a successful actress in Telugu. She has been seen in hits like Bhadra, Ammayi Bagundi. She also acted in Gudumba Shankar. She is now acting in a couple of films now. The latest on her is that she maybe featured as the heroine in a movie alongside Balakrishna. This is the movie that Balakrishna would be doing under the direction of P Vasu. Vakada Apparao will produce the movie. Meera surely is making every critic eat his words.
Meera is cool
Any new heroine will be anxious to know the fate of her film. But Meera Chopra, the heroine of Bangaram, isn't. The young and beautiful girl is pretty relaxed about it all. For, she knows she has done her best and it now rests with the others. Such equanimity and poise comes naturally to this US-educated girl. There is spontaneous calm to her and that helps her to work over anxious moments. Coming from a conservative but settled background, Meera is able to take the rough with the smooth. After Bangaram, she has the film with Nitin. Though she hasn't signed up anything new, Meera is confident that things will pan out to her liking. Well, confidence is the girl.
Meera's chants
Meera Chopra was obviously disappointed that Bangharam did not give the kind of opening that she would have hoped for in Telugu. The film did not give her enough room to make a mark. But Meera hasn't lost her hopes of making it here in Andhra. She is very gung-ho about Satyam Shivam Sundaram. The film, which features Nitin in three 'perspectives', gives Meera a good chance to redeem herself. "It is a very nice movie and I hope to make the most of the opportunity," Meera says
Meera does hot scene for 'Nepali'
Yes, Meera Jasmine, the same girl who is seldom seen in anything beyond sarees, half sarees and churidars, has dared to go for a glamourous look for her forthcoming Tamil film Nepali. Directed by V Z Durai, reports from Chennai are that there is one particular steamy scene in the film, which could pose a problem with the censors too! The stills of the film show her prancing around with hero Bharath, who will be playing three roles in it. Looks like this Mallu babe is keen on shedding her onscreen Miss Goody Two shoes image. So will we see her doing something similar in Telugu?
