'Ae Meri Zohrajabeen' - Music video watch

Firoz Nadiadwala is one film maker who is always known for his lavish production values, multiple stars and last but not the least, at least a couple of 'item numbers' that are exotically shot and mostly comprise of 'phoren' babes with 'apna' heroes. In recent past he has done that in 'Hera Pheri', 'Awara Paagal Deewana' and 'Deewana Huye Paagal'. And if this was not enough, even in 'Aan', that was directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, who is famous for his realistic approach to film making, he ensured that there were at least two item/dance numbers incorporated in the narrative. But with 'Phire Hera Pheri', he plays it a little different as he moves on with the times. No, it's not that he has come out of his fascination for item songs. It's just that he has given it a different flavor, look and feel to it! Lay out the red carpet for one of the funniest comic numbers ever shot for a Hindi film - 'Ae Meri Zohrajabeen'! Sung and composed by Himesh Reshammiya, the opening 3 words are borrowed from the namesake classic in 'Waqt' but the remaining lyrics along with the music is completely different....and interesting! Imagine the frustation of Baburao [Parsh Rawal] as he sees his entire gang of friends and foes gearing up to sing and dance for the next performance of 'Dhoom Dhaka orchestra' but choose to ignore him and that too in a BIG way? Everyone from Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty to Sharat Saxena gives him a cold shoulder as they get ready to wear their 'chatak-matak' attire for their performance. Insult to the injury comes when Johny Lever first [mistakingly] hands him the clothes that were originally meant for Rimmi Sen and then to keep him away from cribbing, he brings out a jumbo size collar bow with polka prints. Bewildered by the very thought of wearing just a bow, Baburao seekes revenge....and how! And to think of it, so far this was just a prelude with the song still to begin! Cut to the 'desi' stage that has been created with shades of all white and pink. Akshay Kumar and Suneil Shetty share a mike as they sing the opening lines while having a small little tiff within them, only to settle down as a team in a matter of few seconds. And guess what, both of them wear white colored 3 piece suits, pink frills and big brown shades! Imagine their look as they try to be as serious and hep as the banner of 'dhoom dhadaka' looms large in the background. This is not all as each of the male leads are accompanied by Bipasha Basu and Rimmi Sen who stand on their either sides and appear as bimbo'n'cute'n'barbie-like as possible. While Bipasha chooses to wear a short pink skirt and a white top, Rimmi chooses a denim mini. With delicate body moments to suit the mood of the song and the characters they enact, the two ladies [who act and look like teenage girls in the video] sway mischievously to the foot tapping tune to make for an eye candy moment. Also starring in the video are Sharat Saxena [who plays the drum master], Johney Lever [who plays a yellow colored guitar], Suresh Menon and Sunil Pal [who play guitarists], while Rajpal Yadav gets behind the keyboard. And all these 9 characters appear in one single frame wearing whites and pinks, only to be joined by the 10th - BABURAO! Wearing the gifted polka bow on his neck, he appears in a trademark torn vest and a lungi with big round high power glasses. His manner of taking revenge? Do whatever it takes to disturb the 'dhhom dhadaka' orchestra, even if that means whistling in the ears of the lead singers, interfering with the guitars, plugging away the wire from the keyboard, coming too close to comfort to the leading ladies or to play it simple by just snatching away the mikes! No wonder, it's time for mayhem to begin even as Himesh Reshammiya's catchy song continues to play in the background. Milind Gunaji, looking each bit a local 'neta', waves on the screen for a few seconds, Manoj Joshi shows his teeth in split second frame while body builders dressed in black kurtas try throwing away Paresh Rawal from the screen. The culmination of the song comes when none other than KING KONG arrives on the screen as Baburao uses him to his full advantage by first irritating the beast and then pinches him in the bottom to provoke him into creating a riot. Things go topsy turvy, blows fly, punches exchange and finally Baburao declares him as the winner with his parting slogan 'JAI MAHARASHTRA'! The music video works in a big way with every age group and should be a strong reason for people to flock this Neeraj Vora directed film that comes on 9th June!

'Mumbai Meri Jaan' to be set free on August 22

The time cannot be riper for this film to hit the cinema halls. The core subject of the movie is based on the Mumbai serial train blasts of July 11, 2006. When the country is yet to come in terms with the recent back to back multiple bomb blasts in two major cities, the message that 'Mumbai Meri Jaan' tries to put across will gain more significance. The film directed by Nishikant Kamat and produced by Ronnie Screwala for UTV Motion Pictures will be released on August 22. Nishikant is the same man who called the shots for the fabulous film 'Dombivli Fast'. Paresh Rawal plays one of the important characters of the film. We have seen this versatile actor play all kinds of roles with maximum perfection in the past. In this movie he will be for the first time appearing with a moustache which he grew just for the role of a police officer on the verge of retirement. To give the character the look which the director wanted, Paresh Rawal even went on to loose 15 kilos and will be looking much thinner. The unpleasant days after the serial bomb blasts ripped through the city of dreams and the impact it had on the life of different people coming from different backgrounds forms the story. An aggressive reporter, a patriotic corporate man, a retiring policeman, a rookie cop, an unemployed youth and a coffee-vendor are the leading characters. How the bomb blasts makes significant changes in all these characters lives and how they cope up with the consequences that sometimes brings the best and sometimes the worst in them are shown in the film. R.Madhavan, Soha Ali Khan, Irrfan Khan and K.K.Menon play some of the characters. The cinematography is by Sanjay Jadhav, story, dialogue and lyrics are by Yogesh Vinayak Joshi, Amit Pawar is the editor and the music has been scored by Sameer Phaterpekar. Watch out for this realistic story of ordinary people set in one extraordinary circumstance.

Remix of 'Tu Hi Meri Shab' rocks at the right time

Call it great planning but the way with which the remix version of 'Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai [Gangster] has hit the screens; it is nothing but sheer timing. Since the very first instance of the movie being promoted when its first trailer was shown alongside the movie screening of 'Kalyug', the buzz around the film has only grown with every passing week. Especially in last one month, there has been no looking back for the movie as the music by Pritam has taken a superhit status and the talkie promos have done the trick too. Now with the arrival of remix version of 'Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai', the craze for the film has reached an all time high as the rocking number is accompanied by a fast paced jazzed up video that incorporates shots from the movie alongside lip synching by Emran Hashmi and Kangna Ranuat.

Watch out for 'Ae Meri Zohrajabeen' in 'Phir Hera Pheri'

So what if 'Ae Meri Zohrajabeen' was a classic decades back when picturised on Balraj Sahni decades back for the film 'Waqt'? When Himesh Reshammiya is at the helm for a song with the same opening wordings in 2006, it is rest assured that the song would reach out to the masses, if not turn out to be a classic. That pretty much seems to be the case in 'Phir Hera Pheri' for which Reshammiya, in his trademark manner, has composed and sung the song 'Ae Meri Zohrajabeen' that has some fresh lyrics written by Sameer. A high pitched foot tapping number, it is a track that is expected to zoom up on the charts as soon as it arrives on air. With a great hit record behind him, there would be few who would doubt the expected success of the song.
