Adaikalam is Prashanth's big hope
Prashanth is pinning all his hopes in Adaikalam. After a average outing in the last couple of years, the actor is optimistic of turning things around with the movie directed by debutant Bhuvanaraja. He has taken up a role that calls for some solid performance and he's delivered the goods. Says Bhuvanaraja, 'I narrated two subjects to Prashanth and he liked both. It was then that I told him there was another script that could be gratifying for him as an actor, and Prashanth was keen to listen to it too. He immediately agreed to do it', he says. Bhuvanaraja, who has worked as associate with directors Adhiyamaan and Mugavari Durai, says, 'the audience can see a different Prashanth in Adaikkalam. He has come up with a matured performance with right expressions.' On the subject, he says, 'the movie revolvesaround the bonding between a responsible father and his estranged wife, son and daughter'. Kadal Pookal fame Uma, Thyagarajan and Saranya are also in the cast.
Ajith back in the groove
Ajith, who reduced his weight considerably to play an angry youth in Tirupathi, has now put on weight to play the hero in his next film Aalwar. Rigorous workouts and food habits have helped Ajith add six more kilograms. With his long hair cut and increased weight, Ajith is back to where he left in the likes of Vaali and Mugavari, say sources close to the actor. Ajith, who plays a ward boy in the movie, will have Asin as his ladylove. Directed by a debutant Chella, the shooting for Ajith's Aalwar will commence on 1 August at a huge set erected at Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad. Ajith, who pulled out of Bala's Naan Kadavul, at the last moment, is hopeful of rendering a hit in Aalwar. Mohan Natarajan is producing the movie.
Reality films are in
Films inspired by real-life incidents are on the increase in recent times. Adding one more to the list is director V Z Durai's next venture. Titled Hindu Nesan, the movie is supposed to star Jeeva in the lead role. The movie would be produced by director Ameer, who is wielding the megaphone for Paruthy Veeran. It may be recalled that Hindu Nesan was a popular magazine in early 1940s which wrote gossips on veteran actors M K Thyagaraja Bhagavathar and N S Krishnan. Its reporter Lakshmikanthan was murdered and the blame fell on MKT and NSK resulting in both being jailed. One wonders whether the movie is inspired by the incident. However efforts to contact Durai in this regard has failed. Durai, who shot to fame directing movies like Mugavari, Kadhal Sadugudu and Thotti Jaya, is planning to commence shooting in the coming months.
