Mumbai PR agencies take charge in Tollywood

Suddenly the buzz around Ram Charan's latest movie Dhruva has increased. Similarly Rajamouli comes out of blue and gives interviews to CNN-IBN channel. Rana always stays in the news in top newspapers cinema columns. There's a reason behind all this. Actually bigger stars like Ram Charan, Rajamouli and Rana have hired PR agencies from Mumbai to handle their branding job. These agencies make sure that their client always stays in the news with somehow or the other. While Rana is doing that from a while, Rajamouli hired just before Baahubali 1 release and Ram Charan hired them recently. Mumbai gang-rape: Big B expresses shock

"Deeply shocked" and "distressed" over the gangrape of a woman photojournalist in Mumbai, megastar Amitabh Bachchan said the pride in the name of Mumbai has taken a beating. He said it needs to be rectified soon. "We have all been very distressed and extremely shocked at this most heinous kind of crime - the gangrape that has happened in Mumbai. This a huge tragedy and I must say this that the name of the city (Mumbai) has taken a beating and we need to rectify that," Big B said here during the launch of a "Kaun Banega Crorepati" 'Hot Seat Aapke Shehar' van. A woman photojournalist was raped by five men in the abandoned Shakti Mills compound near Mahalaxmi railway station where she was on an assignment along with a male colleague here Thursday. The police has so far caught two of the culprits. "I hope the authorities will take the immediate steps and catch the culprits and put them through a very rigorous investigation, take them to the law and make sure that the law acts as soon as possible," added the 70-year-old. Lamenting how the city, considered safe for women, has witnessed such a crime, Amitabh added: "We have always had great pride in this city... in the city that has been devoid of any kind of such incidents. "Women have always been looked upon with grace and a lot of dignity and they have always felt very safe, irrespective of where they go or what they travelled in."

KABUL EXPRESS girl Linda in MUMBAI SALSA

Linda Arsenio, the pretty girl who played the role of Jessica Beckham, a journalist from New York, in last year's KABUL EXPRESS, would soon be seen in MUMBAI SALSA. Getting into an altogether different territory by shifting base from a movie centered on a war zone to the one revolving around an up market discotheque, Linda is one of those few imports from the West who have enjoyed an extended innings in Bollywood. Appearing in MUMBAI SALSA, she would be accompanied by mostly youngsters such as Indraneel Sengupta, Dilip Thadeshwar, Manjari Phadnis, Vir Das, Neelam Chauhan and Ray Irani. Meanwhile, there are also reports of her been signed on by Aseem Merchant for his docudrama 200 DOLLARS.

Mumbai trains could be painted for EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL

If you stay in Mumbai and travel by local trains there, chances are that you would be having one 'colorful' experience soon! Courtesy, Sanjay Khanduri! In a unique promotional strategy and an intense marketing drive, there are speculations that some of the trains at handpicked railway routes may be painted with the promotional material of Abhay Deol-Neha Dhupia starrer EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL. Is that true? "That's right", says debutant director Khanduri, "We are toying with the idea of painting the trains and are currently looking at options while getting the right permissions. Since the film revolves around a missed train and has a local train forming the backdrop of the film, as is obvious through the film's title, we thought that it would be a good idea to use this forum for the promotion of the film." "Also, since the film is based in Mumbai and the subject would come quite naturally to the Mumbaikars, we are looking at going all out with the buzz and hype in the city", he adds, "There is a certain flavor that the city of Mumbai brings, hence it is imperative that when a subject revolves around a missed local train, we make the audience aware about what they are going to get from the film." So when does that happen? "The film is coming on April 20th so a few days before that we should be having the permissions in place while the painters do their job. Rest assured, you would be enjoying yourself with one colorful ride the next time you board a local in Mumbai," he signs off!

'MUMBAI CUTTING makes IFFLA gala night memorable

The IFFLA festival closed with the Closing Night Gala presentation of MUMBAI CUTTING'A CITY UNFOLDS on Sunday, April 27 at Arc Light Hollywood. The film gives each ace director an opportunity to interpret Mumbai, one of the most dynamic, prosperous and vivacious cities of the world in their own special style. At times stark, sometimes comical, and equally cynical, and hopeful, the diverse visions that they portrayed captures the complexities of the 60 million people that have been drawn to India's dream factory, where struggling for survival is the main pastime! This year's Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles attendees included eight of the eleven prominent directors of MUMBAI CUTTING'A CITY UNFOLDS; they were Sudhir Mishra, Anurag Kashyap, Revathy, Kundan Shah, Jahnu Baruwa, Rahul Dholakia, Shashank Ghosh and Ayush Raina. All the directors were energized by the response they got after the premiere. Indian Audience will love it'. Jahnu Barua was the last one to shoot his film as he says ' I am pleased that White cloud and Sahara One Motion Pictures agreed to push the deadline by one month for me, I am very proud of being part of this bold endeavor.' While Rahul Dholakia states that 'My film features last and the audience response was that it sums up the entire film, couldn't have got a better compliment than this. Mumbai Cutting was fun and I love the idea of short film per say.' In Shashank Ghosh words 'The film was very well accepted by the firangi's here, they were glued to their seats and I think that by itself is a fantastic response.' 'Mumbai Meri Jaan' to be set free on August 22

The time cannot be riper for this film to hit the cinema halls. The core subject of the movie is based on the Mumbai serial train blasts of July 11, 2006. When the country is yet to come in terms with the recent back to back multiple bomb blasts in two major cities, the message that 'Mumbai Meri Jaan' tries to put across will gain more significance. The film directed by Nishikant Kamat and produced by Ronnie Screwala for UTV Motion Pictures will be released on August 22. Nishikant is the same man who called the shots for the fabulous film 'Dombivli Fast'. Paresh Rawal plays one of the important characters of the film. We have seen this versatile actor play all kinds of roles with maximum perfection in the past. In this movie he will be for the first time appearing with a moustache which he grew just for the role of a police officer on the verge of retirement. To give the character the look which the director wanted, Paresh Rawal even went on to loose 15 kilos and will be looking much thinner. The unpleasant days after the serial bomb blasts ripped through the city of dreams and the impact it had on the life of different people coming from different backgrounds forms the story. An aggressive reporter, a patriotic corporate man, a retiring policeman, a rookie cop, an unemployed youth and a coffee-vendor are the leading characters. How the bomb blasts makes significant changes in all these characters lives and how they cope up with the consequences that sometimes brings the best and sometimes the worst in them are shown in the film. R.Madhavan, Soha Ali Khan, Irrfan Khan and K.K.Menon play some of the characters. The cinematography is by Sanjay Jadhav, story, dialogue and lyrics are by Yogesh Vinayak Joshi, Amit Pawar is the editor and the music has been scored by Sameer Phaterpekar. Watch out for this realistic story of ordinary people set in one extraordinary circumstance.
