Lawrence Raghavendra is brimming with joy. His directorial venture Muni is shaping up well for a early release in 2007. Shooting a stunt sequence in Chennai recently, Lawrence Raghavendra said, "I am thankful to director Saran for giving me an opportunity to direct a movie in Tamil. It is a mega-budget movie in which everything is grand." The movie stars Lawrence Raghavendra, Vethika and Raj Kiran in prominent roles. Says Lawrence, "Muni is synonymous with spirits and ghosts. But my film will be a hilarious entertainer right from the word go. Though I am a choreographer-turned-actor, I have chosen to concentrate on action in the movie. In contrast, Raj Kiran will do the dancing." "Saran has not compromised on the budget. We shot a couple of song sequences in huge sets erected in Chennai and plans are on to shoot the remaining songs abroad. The talkie portions are over," he added. Lawrence Raghavendra is optimistic that people would welcome his new attempt on the big screen and make the movie a big hit.
Muni audio launched in style
The famous Muniswaran temple at Burma Colony in Chennai witnessed the coming together of several thousand people named after Muni, for the shooting of a song sequence for director Saran's home production Muni. The movie being directed by Lawrence Raghavendra features Raj Kiran in a prominent role. To coincide with the audio launch for the movie, Saran had announced a unique contest to gather all those named Muni at the location. They were given special gifts and all of them appeared for a song sequence. Muni has musical score by Bharadwaj and it was launched at the temple on the occasion. Lawrence Raghavendra, Saran, art-director Mohana Mahendran, Vinu Chakravarthy, Kadhal Dhandapani and Raj Kiran were present on the occasion.
Muni for March 9 release
Director Saran's home production Muni will hit the screens on 9 March. Noted choreographer Ragava Larencce makes his directorial debut in Tamil with Muni. The movie features Raj Kiran and Lawrence in lead roles. Vethika, Kovai Sarala and Ramesh Kanna form the supporting cast. Going by the title, one can say that the movie is about supernatural powers. Raj Kiran plays a prominent role in the movie. Get set to enjoy supernatural powers this March.
Muni spells magic at the box office
Kudos to Ragava Larencce The choreographer - director's Muni has managed to complete a 50-day run in theatres across the State. An out-of-the-box theme, Muni featured Larencce in lead role besides Raj Kiran. Produced by Saran, the film won the appreciation of elders and children alike. Providing a visual delight for children, the director laced the film with right commercial elements which clicked. The movie which has Vedika and Kovai Sarala in the cast, has musical score by Bharadwaj. A hilarious entertainer, the movie has enough thrills to bring the audience to the edge of their seats.
Muni is going places
Muni, directed by Larencce Ragava, went on to do a successful business at Kollywood. Starring Raj Kiran and Larencce in prominent roles, the movie produced by director Saran was different from the regular run-of-the-mill stuffs. It was about a spirit that possesses the hero and how it helps him to fight against the criminals. The latest buzz doing rounds in Tamil cinema is that Muni will go to Bollywood now. Following the likes of Ghajini and Pokiri, Bollywood producers have evinced keen interest to remake Muni in Hindi. A prominent production house has decided to start the venture in Hindi and they have reportedly approached Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar to do the roles of Raj Kiran and Larencce respectively.
Muniyandi team builds a temple
It is a well known fact that Thirumurugan and Bharath combination is teaming up again after 'Em-Magan' for 'Muniyandi Vilangiyal Moondramaandu'. There is a less known fact about that film that the team is building a temple for the movie. The story has a Munishwar temple playing an important role. The team was not satisfied with any of the Munishwar temples that they visited and hence decided to build a temple of their own. The temple will come up in Vellai Koundalur near Pollachi. The temple will be built on a rock and art director Bhupathi will design the temple. A 50 foot high Muniswarar idol as well as an ambulatory wall is being built at a cost of 10 lakhs. The temple will be a usual temple with all poojas and pariharamas duly performed. The shooting will take place in it for 15 days in the temple after which the temple will be dedicated to the village. The movie tells you the problems encountered by village youth who is coming up in life. The shooting of the movie is scheduled in Pollachi, in and around Karaikudi, and Devakottai. The shooting is expected to be finish in a single schedule spreading over 50 days. Malaysia Production Company Lotus five star and Thiru pictures combine to produce the movie. Bharath will have newcomer Thamarai as his pair. Vadivelu plays an important role. Vidyasagar handles the music while Vairamuthu pens the lyrics. The movie started rolling on December 26th, and it is expected to see the light on the eve of Tamil New Year's day.
