Journalist-turned-filmmaker Raju Murugan, who made a splash with his Tamil directorial debut "Cuckoo" last year, is currently filming his second film in the language with a slew of newcomers. "The regular shooting started four days ago near Dharampuri. The lead cast features mostly newcomers. Along the lines of his debut film, this one too will be very unconventional from the usual crop of films," a source from the film's unit told. Over the last few months, the first-time actors underwent an acting workshop. "Even for 'Cuckoo', Raju made his lead actors undergo a special workshop," the source said. The film is being produced by Potential Studios, who recently bankrolled Tamil horror hit "Maya".
Rajini Murugan Releases big in 400 screens
Actor Sivakarthikeyan's much delayed project "Rajinimurugan", will finally be releasing on 14th January for the Pongal festival.This much expected film will reportedly be releasing in more than 400 screens in Tamilnadu, despite three others films are lined up for release around the same season.Rajini Murugan directed by Ponram, will have Sivakarthikeyan, Keerthi Suresh, Rajkiran, Samuthirakani etc in the lead roles.
'Rajini Murugan' first Tamil blockbuster of 2016
Actor Sivakarthikeyan's Tamil comedy "Rajini Murugan", which released after months of delay on Makar Sankranti last week, has emerged as the industry's first blockbuster of the year. "In the opening weekend, the film raked in over Rs.20 crore worldwide. It's the biggest opening for the Sivakarthikeyan in his career so far. Despite the onslaught of the three other big releases, 'Rajini Murugan' emerged successful," trade analyst Trinath told. Directed by Ponram, the film also stars Keerthy Suresh, Soori and Rajkiran in important roles. Despite mixed reviews, "Rajini Murugan" was lapped up by the masses. "The film has registered fantastic opening everywhere, especially in B and C centres. It has worked extremely well with the masses and family audiences," Trinath said.

Young filmmaker Raju Murugan is being hailed by the Tamil society. Many top celebrities including Superstar Rajinikanth and highly respected civil servant Sagayam IAS have showered praises on his second film 'Joker' which released last week and has been successfully running in theaters with an increased screen count in the second week. However getting praised by one's Guru is something extremely precious everyone. Raju Murugan worked as an Assistant director to N.Lingusamy who has finally opened up about his protege's film. Lingusamy has sent a letter praising Raju Murugan and his 'Joker' but he has also made certain candid and honest observations. "After seeing the first look poster of 'Joker' which featured the lead actor Somasundaram sitting near a semi-constructed toilet I felt Raju Murugan would have opted for a better poster design. I even wondered why he selected this as the first look idea.
Director Vel Murugan and Ranjith - Back together
Director Vel Murugan is currently wielding the megaphone for Marudachalam with Ranjith playing the title role. The two had earlier teamed up together for Nesam Pudhusu. Marudhachalam is a commercial entertainer and Ranjith is hopeful that Vel Murugan would make it click.
Tamanna out of Rajini Murugan?
It was recently reported that director-producer Lingusamy is in talks with milk beauty Tamanna to pair opposite happening actor Siva Karthikeyan in their upcoming film Rajini Murugan. Latest we hear is the filmmaker has dropped the idea. If sources are to be believed, Tamanna is said to have claimed for a huge pay that is offered for her by Tollywood producers, which left Lingusamy in shocks. Apparently the Anjaan director satires saying lots of money seems to be lying idle with Telugu producers and started searching for another heroine. Thirupathi Brothers producing Rajini Murugan is directed by Ponram. Lakshmi Menon is the heroine. Raj Kiran, Samuthirakani and Soori plays crucial roles in the movie.
