More news →'Say Na' girl Aneela is back with 'Mahi'
Aneela is a pop star who rose to fame with her single 'Say Na Say Na' that was heard in 'Bluffmaster' that released last year. While most of the songs in the film were mainly used for the promotional purpose/background score, 'Say Na' was one of the select songs from the album that was actually picturised in entirety in the film. Now Aneela is back with a full fledged album of hers titled 'Mahi'. Comprising of chartbuster songs like 'Mahi', 'Chori Chori', 'Jaande', 'Bombay Dreams' and many more, 'Mahi' is made of 12 songs that have been released internationally and now have been compiled for a launch as an album in India A young woman, Aneela was born in Denmark in a small town called Frederiksvaerk. She has a half-Persian half-Pakistani mother and a dad born in India. She grew up with Asian folk music as a natural part of her upbringing and though she is based out of Sweden, she is in touch with Bollywood music and Indi-pop.
SOCHA NA THA debutants clash at box office
After a togetherness for years during the making of SOCHA NA THA, it's lead pair of Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia would now be on the opposite sides as their films come within breathing distance of each other this April. Hence while EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL starring Abhay in the lead along with Neha Dhupia would be hitting the screens on April 13th, a week later Ayesha would be bringing along her love story in Tusshar Kapoor led KYA LOVE STORY HAI. Incidentally while EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL has been in the news for around 2 years with the release date finally being closed after months of speculation, KYA LOVE STORY HAI has been relatively a quickie in the making with news about it just beginning to make rounds. There is coincidence though about the two films as each of them has a debutant director at the helm. While EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL is directed by Sanjay Khanduri, KYA LOVE STORY HAI has Lovely Singh as the man behind the megaphone.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ breaks even, makes Rs.59 crore
Director Zoya Akhtar’s “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” has broken even, making Rs.28.60 crore in the opening weekend and Rs.31 crore through satellite and music rights for a total of over Rs.59 crore. The budget of the film, including prints and publicity was Rs.55 crore, trade sources said. At the box office, the film, which was publicised extensively across the country, earned Rs.8.15 crore Friday, Rs.9.25 crore Saturday and Rs.11.20 crore Sunday, with occupancy being 100 percent. The film recovered Rs.24 crore through satellite rights and Rs.7 crore from its music rights. Despite the bomb blasts in Mumbai two days before its Friday release, people queued up to watch the movie. The film opened with 90 to 100 percent occupancy. “The response to the film is really good. We are running the film in almost all our properties with 100 percent business. Although Friday was low, but the film picked up with word-of-mouth publicity,” Amit Shah, chief manager (programming) of DLF DT cinemas told IANS. The film is about four best friends, who set out on a road trip that changes their lives. It celebrates the sheer beauty and physicality of location and their deep connection to the characters’ state of mind. The star cast of the film includes Abhay Deol, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin. “The movie is being liked by everyone. It’s a family entertainer. It a movie with fresh feel and does not belong to any particular genre. You would find a little bit of everything in the movie. The film is likely to sustain for longer time,” said Munish Sharma, general manager (marketing) Satyam Cineplexes. Hrithik-Katrina teamed up as a couple for the first time in the film and their on screen chemistry has been the talk of the town and Farhan’s acting has been appreciated too. “Of all the three actors, Farhan stands out. It’s a refreshing, plain and simple movie. The occupancy has been above 95 percent,” said Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (Cinemas) of Wave Cinemas. Looking at the kind of response that the film got over the weekend, Farhan took to the internet to reveal his excitement and also praised his sister Zoya for making an entertaining film. “Wow! Cannot get over how much positive support and love this film is being given.. Thank you all. Well done Zoya! You truly deserve it,” Farhan wrote on microblogging site Twitter.” Hrithik also tweeted: “Wow!! Moshi moshi!! Going MANTAL with the response!!!!”
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ earns Rs. 108 crore in 10 days
Zoya Akhtar’s “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”, a story of the adventurous road trip in Spain of three friends, is spinning magic at the box office – grossing Rs.108 crore in 10 days. Released by Eros International, the film starring Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin and Katrina Kaif has earned Rs.86 crore at the domestic box office (net collection Rs.60 crore) and Rs.22 crore overseas. The film released on over 1,800 screens. “We are ecstatic with the audience as well as critics’ reactions to ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’. The superb run of the film so far, especially across multiplexes, has superseded all expectations and we are expecting the film to continue its excellent performance in the coming week as well,” Nandu Ahuja, senior vice president (Distribution), India, Eros International Media Ltd, said in a statement. The film opened to rave reviews and raked in Rs.52.50 crores worldwide in the very first weekend.
Reshammiya says 'Samjho Na'
Well, its not really our fault if a news item about Himesh Reshammiya finds a place on our website on an almost daily basis. Afterall the man is not resting at all and finding his name plastered everywhere, be it billboards, talent hunt shows or album covers. Unrelenting in his onscreen appearances to the songs sung by him, he would now be seen in the music video of the third song from his private album 'Aap Ka Surroor'. A painful song with an agonizing cry to your loved one, 'Samjho Na' features Reshammiya in his bearded best as he searches, finds and then looses his love. The music video has been imaginatively shot as a young boy and girl are shown building castles in the air (literally) as they walk over the clouds at their innocent best.
RDB dislodges Kaho Na Pyaar Hai
Rang De Basanti is now on the way to be a 50 crore plus hit and while en route to the glorious landmark; it is toppling one record after another. The movie has a 47.5 crore total to boast after 8 weeks of running across the country and has 1 more clear week ahead without any major releases. After marching past the total of 'No Entry' [45 crores], the film has now dislodged 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai' from the 4th position in the list of biggest grossers of the current decade. The adjusted total of KNPH was 46.25 crores. The way RDB is progressing, it is now all set to come to the 3rd place by going ahead of Koi Mil Gaya's (adjusted) total of 49 crores!
