One of the most acclaimed 'Taare Zameen Par', which sensitized millions, had Aamir Khan in the role of a teacher who identifies an eight year old boy as dyslexic and helps him to emerge out of the challenging defect. The similar role of an understanding teacher will be played by the yesteryear beauty Nadiya in an upcoming movie titled as 'Pattalam'. Nadiya features as school correspondent cum psychiatrist in this movie which is produced by director Lingusamy's production house 'Thirupati Brothers'. Rohan Krishna, a film institute student makes his directorial debut through this film. He was a former assistant to Rajiv Menon and Santosh Sivan and also has won a national award for a short film titled 'Paramapadham'. The film revolves around the school students, played by new comers and has strong, emotional values, which impressed Nadiya very much and made her act in the movie as she is very selective about her projects these days.
Nadiya joins Trivikram's 'A...Aa'
The latest addition to the ensemble cast of filmmaker Trivikram's Telugu romantic drama "A...Aa", which features Nithiin Reddy and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles, is popular yesteryear actress Nadiya. "Nadiya really liked how Trivikram etched her character. She's really excited and is expected to join the sets very soon," the film's spokesperson told. This is the second time Nadiya has collaborated with Trivikram after Telugu blockbuster "Attarintiki Daaredhi". "A...Aa", which will be produced S. Radha Krishna of Haarika and Hassine banner, will have music by Anirudh Ravichander. It also features actress Anupama Parameswaran in an important role.
Nadhiya ready for the in-law challenge
'I am not averse to doing mother-in-law roles', says Nadhiya, who has been now flooded with such offers after her comeback. A yesteryear heroine Nadhiya bid bye to acting after her marriage. She made her comeback with M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi playing Jayam Ravi's mother and followed it up with a pivotal role in Vishal's Thamirabarani. The actress now plays Sundar C's mother-in-law in Porukki. Produced and directed by Sakthi Chidambaram, the movie went to floors recently. Nadhiya says, 'After deciding to make a re-entry, I did not accept all the offers that came my way. I am very choosy. If I have a meaty role to play, I am ready to accept the offer'. On her role in Porukki, Nadhiya, 'It is a strong character that demands my best on the screen. I accepted the offer with glee'. Nadiya was one of the real top heroines in Tamil ever when she was at the top of her prowess.
Nadhiya gets a dream role
The moment some one says the name of the actress Nadhiya Moidu, the roles that come in to the mind are the ones she portrayed in the films like 'Poovae Poochudava' in which she played the role of an youngster whose time to spend in this beautiful world is limited due a deadly disease, 'Chinna Thampi Periya Thampi' in which we saw her with Prabhu presenting one of the best screen couple ever, and highly popular 'Uyire Unakkaga' with Mohan. Years have passed and still we see the same charm in her acting when we see her in the roles of mothers to heroes and heroines of the present generation. In the new film 'Pattalam' Nadhiya plays the role of a school correspondent and psychiatrist who is very close to 9 school going youngsters who are having a blast enjoying their teenage years without any commitments to burden them. The director in charge is a new person called Roshan Kumar who is a former assistant to hit makers Priyadarshan and Santosh Sivan and also has got a national award for a short film 'Paramapadham'. Linguswamy is producing the new film under the banner of Tirupathi Brothers. The actress is very upbeat about this role and considers it as a kind of character that does not come often. Well if that is the case, some exceptional performance can be expected from Nadhiya.
Nadhiya's impressive comeback
Nadhiya is one of the very few yesteryear heroines to make a successful comeback. Playing a new generation mom in 'M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi', she commenced her second innings with a mighty bang. Movies like 'Thamirabarani' and 'Sanda' consolidated her place. She is currently acting in 'Pattalam', produced by Lingusamy and directed by debutant Rohan. Nadhiya says, 'I mainly go by my character in the film and my instinctive hunch. These generally don't let me down'. 'Nadhiya plays a counselor and head of a school in 'Pattalam'. 'Being with teenagers makes me feel really young, and Rohan is doing a wonderful job. Pattalam should work,' says Nadhiya. 'I am in no hurry to accept all offers. I take one movie at a time', she says with smile.
Nadhiya back to the pavilion
Nadhiya left her mark intact in the Tamil filmdom with her graceful performance in 'Poove Poochudava'. After a gap, the actress made a comeback in Kollywood with 'M Kumaran S/0 Mahalakshmi', is now planning to make it big in Mollywood. The actress, who has been looking for the ripest roles in Malayalam, has been roped in for a new film directed by V M Vinu, featuring Vineeth Sreenivasan and Sreenivasan in the lead roles. The movie will start its shoot on 10th November at Palakkad. To be reportedly produced by Seven Arts of 'Kuselan' fame, the film is expected to be one of the earliest releases of 2009.
