Arivazhagan tipped to one of the prodigious talented directors of South has roped Mahima Nambiar, the pretty actress in his next film Kuttram 23. She plays the female lead named 'Thendral' a breezy title that is all set to sweep off the audience.Kuttram 23 is a medical crime thriller is produced by Inder Kumar of Redhan the Cinema people in association with Aarathi Arun of In Cinemas Entertainment (P) ltd.The beauteous actress is very much excited to be a part of the film and she believes that ‘Kuttram 23’ would take her to the next level in Tamil Film Industry. “It was on one fine day, I received a call from Arivazhagan sir’s office for doing a female lead in Kuttram 23.I was called in the morning for audition and got finalized in the evening. Initially I was very much nervous for pairing opposite to Arun Vijay sir, since he hailed from a strong filmic background Family. But he is very cordial and caring in nature which made me to feel more comfortable.After watching YA movie, I became a huge fan of him and I was very much impressed by his emotional acting, extraordinary footwork and daring stunt sequences in Thadaiyara Thaaka” says Mahima.Mahima who was seen in rural characters in the past films, will be portrayed as a city girl in Kuttram 23. “Arivazhagan Sir, has a phenomenal style of showing his heroines in a most delightful manner, enhancing their talents and looks to a larger extent. In that case I am very much lucky enough to prove my talents, as well as my looks. Named as Thendral, I am very much attracted to the soul of my character. ” said Mahima with an elegant smile. This most anticipated movie ‘Kuttram 23’ is in their final schedule of the shoot.
Bejoy Nambiar’s next is a remake of Mani Ratnam’s movie
Director Bejoy Nambiar is working on the remake of Mani Ratnam’s hit film “Agni Nachathira”. Bejoy, who tasted success with his last film “Wazir”, is busy re-writing the Tamil version of the 1988 film for the Hindi audience. “One of the scripts I am working on is a contemporary reboot of that film (“Agni Nachathiram”),” Bejoy told PTI. The cast for this film will be decided once Bejoy finishes the script. “We will announce all that in some time,” Bejoy said, when asked if he would go for A-listers or newcomers for the movie. His last release “Wazir” had megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar in lead roles. puf
Bejoy Nambiar to remake a classic hit of Maniratnam
‘Wazir’ director’s eye is on One of Maniratnam’s classic Action Dramas ‘Agni Nachathiram’. 1988’s sensational hit starring Prabhu Ganeshan and Karthik Muthuraman is about to get remade by Bejoy Nambiar. He chose Harshvardhan rane and Vicky kaushal to play the main leads. Harshvardhan was seen in couple of Bollywood movies earlier and showed some decent acting skills. On the other hand, it is Vicky who is exciting the whole Bollywood for his next release Ramana Raghav 2.0. Bejoy said he has seen their work earlier, thinks they both are amazing actors and fit the characters very accurately. Bejoy did work for Maniratnam as assistant earlier in his direction department and have huge admiration towards his work. So, partially you can see it as, Bejoy is trying to recreate his idol’s legendry work and give a tribute to him. Well, Good Luck with it Bejoy!
Can't direct horror film: Bejoy Nambiar
He has produced forthcoming horror drama "Pizza", but Bejoy Nambiar says he can't think of directing a film in the same genre. "I am s**t scared of horror. I don't think I can ever direct a horror film. But I have a director who is so confident about his craft. He was so comfortable that it gave me confidence as a producer," said Nambiar, the director of thrillers "David" and "Shaitan". "The audience is ready for horror and suspense thriller movies and this is the reason we are making the film," he added. Directed by Akshay Akkineni, "Pizza" featuring Akshay Oberoi and former Miss India Parvathy Omanakuttan among others will come out July 18. As the film is nearing release, Nambiar confesses to experiencing pressure for many reasons. He said: "There is a lot of pressure, specially when there is a first time director and also when format of shooting was different. It's a learning experience for all of us, and the pressure was added because you were trying something new."
Ridiculous things happening in censor board: Bejoy Nambiar
Filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar, who feels "ridiculous things" are happening in the censor board, says there needs to be uniformity regarding censorship of content in Indian cinema. Asked about his views on the strictness of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Nambiar said: "Some ridiculous things are happening in the censor board. I think it's high time we take a uniform decision about what kind of content we should be allowed to watch. "If this kind of discussion is consistently happening (what and what not to allow), it means there is definitely a problem... which has not happened earlier. It's high time we get a certificate rating like we have in the west," he added. Bejoy is currently busy promoting his film "Wazir", which has megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar. He says working with stars has its pros and cons. "They come with an aura which makes things easy, but the disadvantage is that you have to make sure that the story complements the aura well. Certain stars might be huge, but they won't fit the part... So that's also an easy trap to fall into," he added.
Don't want to restrict myself to a particular genre: Bejoy Nambiar
Filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar, who has made a string of thriller movies like "Shaitan", "David", "Pizza" and now "Wazir", says he wants to explore more genres. Asked if he would venture into other genres, Nambiar said: "Definitely, I would love to explore more genres. I don't want to restrict myself to particular one." "I want to do films that would challenge me as a director because I just don't want to restrict myself to say a thriller or a drama genre," added the Kochi-born director, who is awaiting the release of "Wazir", which hits the screens on Friday. The movie stars Farhan Akhtar, Amitabh Bachchan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Aditi Rao Hydari and John Abraham. Talking about what he plans to do after the movie, Nambiar said: "Well, right now the focus is just on 'Wazir'. So let that come out and let people watch it. I am working on other stuff too. But first priority is 'Wazir'".
