Namitha is now acting in a bi-lingual film called 'Maya'. The film is being made in Tamil and Telugu. Ace cinematographer Ashok Kumar is working on the film. Incidentally, Namita has Bulgarian, American and Canadian co-stars. The film too was shot on location there and so they got the local artistes to be a part of the film. The film is being produced by American Pictures and Eric is directing it.
Namitha plays advocate
The film '1977' produced by Saratkumar on his own banner with himself playing hero, has two female leads. Of them, the oomph girl Namitha is playing the role of a lawyer, while Farjana is donning the character of a journalist. Giving details of the film, Saratkumar says, 'I have several films in the combination of Namitha in my career. Though she is playing the role of an advocate in this film, she also had a lot of choice to fill the glamour slot. We are making efforts to release the film not only in Telugu and Tamil languages, we have plans to dub them in some foreign languages too. Presently post-production works are in progress. There is a speciality for our film '1977'. MG Ramachandran took over the reins of the State as chief minister in 1977. However, the film has no political backdrop. Three fourths of the film was shot in Malaysia. The government and police cooperated with us well there. I will appear in six different get-ups in the movie.' Ad film maker, GN Dinesh Kumar is being introduced as director through the movie.
Namitha plays CJ in Telugu
The heartthrob of youngsters, Namitha has now gone back to Tollywood. A less known fact is the actress has created a sensation earlier in Andhra with 'Santhosam', 'Gemini' and 'Oka Raja Oka Rani'. It was then she ventured into Tamil and managed to establish a niche for herself in Kollywood. She wanted to make it big in Tamil cinema and 'Billa' featuring Namitha alongside Ajith took her to new heights. Now the actress is stepping a foot again into Telugu with the remake of 'Billa'. Prabhas plays the role enacted by Ajith, while Anushka is reportedly playing the female lead. Namitha has been roped in to restate her role in the Tamil version. Namitha has reportedly gone on a diet and has reduced a considerable amount of weight to play the role of a vixen.
Namitha off to Kannada
The buxom Namitha is acting in several films including actor-director Parthiban's Pachchakkuthirra. Known for her glamour roles, Namitha has got a good fan following. Now the buzz is that the actress would be shifting her base to Kannada filmdom. Her debut film would star Ravichandran opposite her. It is a remake of yesteryear Tamil hit Aranmanai Kili which starred Raj Kiran in the lead role. It may be recalled that the remakes of Tamil movies in Kannada has increased and the likes of Pithamagan and the recent Aranmanai Kili are a pointer to it.
Namitha doesn't care about awards
Namitha is quite content about her role in Pachchakkuthiraa. Asked about playing a glamorous role in the movie, she says, 'There is a lot of difference between vulgarity and glamour. It is just a glamorous role'. She says, 'I just performed what director Parthiban wanted from me on the screen. I believe in the second half I had more scope to perform'. Namitha says, 'I don't care about awards. As long as the character has enough scope for me to perform, I would continue to act'. On rumors that she would be acting in a Telugu movie, she says, ' I am in no hurry. I love acting in Tamil films. I want to establish a place for myself here and then branch out to other languages'.
Namitha in English movie
The glam-doll of Kollywood Namitha is all thrilled. For she has been assigned to play the lead role in an English movie. The movie has been titled Maya and would be produced by Global One Studios and would be directed by Eric with Ashok Kumar cranking the camera. Says Namitha, 'It is a great joy to act in an English movie at such a early stage of my career. It is an heroine centric movie and I would certainly leave an impression in the film'. Going further, she says, 'Thogh I have acted in several films in my career, I relish acting in Tamil movies. A sense of comfort prevails when I do Tamil movies. My forthcoming movies too would take me to greater heights in Kollywood'.
