Two of the most talented actors in the country today, Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia, would be seen in back to back films this season. First of the two releases is 'Being Cyrus' that hit the marquee this Friday. Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia, play a Parsi couple in the movie and what is notable about their relationship are the one sided fights that Dimple is shown to be picking up with her husband at any given opportunity. The second release would be a completely opposite film in terms of look and substance, 'Banaras - A Mystic Love Story'. The film releases two weeks down the line on 6th April and is based in the holy city of Banaras where Dimple plays an upper class mother of Urmila Matondkar while Naseeruddin Shah is a mystic 'guru'. It has to be ascertained whether both share any screen time together in the film though their mere presence should be a good enough reason for expecting powerhouse performances.
Naseer goes bald for OMKARA
While lot is being heard and said about the looks and mannerisms of the principal star cast of OMKARA, most notably being Saif Ali Khan, Ajay Devgan and Viveik Oberoi [in that order], there is more to the film that what meets the eye, as apparent by looking at the character played by Naseeruddin Shah in the film. Simply known as 'Bhaisaab' in the film, Naseeruddin Shah bears a bald look in the film with a razor thin moustache to match that gives him an altogether new personality. He plays the role of a sophisticated man with great influences in the Brahmin society! With political connections to match, his looks are deceptive since his profession requires him to demonstrate all shades whether black, white or gray. He has an important role to play in the life of Omkara [Ajay Devgan] as he shares not just a political but personal relationship with him by treating him as his father!

Naseer gets flashy
Naseerudin Shah is always in news for his acting abilities, but now he is creating buzz for his new flashy look. Naseeruddin Shah has decided to change his sober and serious image for Rajat Kapoor's Mithya. Rajat Kapoor says, 'Mithya is about identity'who you are & what makes you the person you are. In this movie, Naseersaab plays a powerful and ruthless gangster. Neha Dhupia plays moll, so we have decided to give him a slightly ostentatious but trendy look which he is never tried or worn before' . Naseeruddin Shah has also worn numerous pendants as he plays an underworld don who is a very religious in character. 'Normally, most dons are made to look boisterous but in Mithya, Naseersaab's character has money, good taste and a graceful girlfriend for which slick yet flashy look seems to be perfect,' justified Isha Ahuwalia, the designer. Hope this new flashy Naseeruddin Shah has lots in store for us.
Naseer, Om Puri, Gulshan Grover in a political thriller
Produced by Aron Govil Productions, Hindi Film 'SHOOT ON SIGHT' starring Indian veteran actors Naseerudin Shah, Om Puri and Gulshan Grover, is all set to storm the Indian theatres on October 17, 2008. The film will also release in English Version along with the Hindi one. 'Shoot on Sight' has been directed by Jag Mundhra, a London Based Indian Film Director, who got to fame with his earlier directed films like Bawandar and Provoked. Shoot On Sight, is a gripping thriller and riveting family drama that unfolds the turmoil in the life of Tariq Ali (Naseerudin Shah), a Muslim police officer at Scotland Yard. Commander Ali, born in Pakistan, married to an English woman, and with two teenage kids, is tasked to investigate the police shooting of a suspected Muslim terrorist on the London Underground. Distrusted by both his British superiors in the London police, and his fellow Muslims, he finds his inquiry hampered from all sides. When evidence surfaces pointing to the slain man's innocence, as well as the existence of a terrorist cell operating in his own backyard. Tariq must face the realization that sometimes, the right decision is the hardest one to make. The film is inspired by the terrorists' attacks of July 7, 2005 on the London underground that resulted in Shoot On Sight order. Naseer speaks on his character in the film 'I am playing Tariq a Muslim Cop working with the British Police. The thought that he is a brown guy working in a white force, doesn't occur to Tariq. He is married to a white woman and has two children from her like my very own ones- He is like Naseer in real life. I am a Muslim and my wife is a Hindu but my children are free to choose their own faiths. Though there is just one difference, the kind of way in which Tariq speaks English, is different to me.' Indian actor Om Puri plays the character of an Imaam, 'Junaid is an Imaam for a mosque, an educated guy whose beliefs are extreme, but there is a certain amount of truth in it. He gives the sensible examples like what the Americans have to do in Iraq, they have no business to be there? Junaid is by no means a moderate person", - is what Om Puri says of his character in 'Shoot On Sight' Filmed entirely on location in London, 'Shoot on Sight' is based on a true story of Tariq Ali, a Muslim police officer working with the Scotland Yard. 'I was not trying to appease the fundamentalists when I was making the film. I made the film because after the bombings, I was in London and I noticed that my looks went against me, probably because I have a beard and I resemble a Muslim. I couldn't even get a Taxi back to my apartment,' says Jag Mundhra. Be it 'Bawandar', 'Provoked' or the now ready-to-release 'Shoot At Sight', most of Mundhra's films are based on real life. He however admits that drama is important for all kinds of movies. Aron Govil Productions Inc. Naseer as a chef
Playing the role of a chef has made the veteran actor Naseerudin Shah much more enlightened about the intricacies of cooking dishes. It was a completely new experience for the actor as he is a person who till this time has not cared for making any kind of food except omelette. Naseer plays the character of a very jolly minded cab driver who becomes a chef in the movie titled as '7 To The Palace'. The film is directed by David Kaplan and tells the story centered on an Indian restaurant named as The Palace in Queens at New York. Although for most of the time during the shooting, Naseerudin Shah just had to fake cooking, the two things the director wanted his central character to learn was to chop onions and garlics. So Naseer before going to New York for the shooting sought the help of his friend Pushan Kripalani , a chef who runs a restaurant in Versova to learn how to do the tasks assigned by the director like a true professional Madhur Jaffrey who is a very famous culinary expert and one who is considered as the queen of cookery appears with Naseer in a scene in '7 To Palace'. Asif Mandvi who is the scrip writer also plays the role of a trainee cook in the movie. The director David Kaplan is a big lover of all kinds of foods and likes everything related with it. His last movie titled as 'Year Of The Fish' also had its main theme in cooking as it narrated the tale of a Chinese restaurant.
