The debutant actor Om (original name Aravind) of 'Dhin Dhina Dhina' is swimming for success in the acting profession! He plays the role of a national level swimmer in his debut. He is taking training in swimming at a swimming pool in Jayanagar from last few months to match the reality of a swimmer. Ravindra is directing 'Dhin Dhina Dhina' and Rajeev is the producer of this film. Om hails from a family of horse trainers studied business management from RV College Bangalore. In his college days he appeared in stage plays and in one of his meeting of friends at Coffee shop he was traced by director Ravindra. That's how he was picked for the film. But soon after selection Om went to Mumbai for crash course in Asha Chandra training camp and for creative talent he met Vidhur creative school. He returned after initial training to Bangalore to appear for the first shot of 'Dhin Dhina Dhina'. "I overcome nervousness to face the camera". While shooting for the film I have learnt the confidence to go ahead from senior artistes like Jayanthiji says Om. As a swimmer of national repute in the film Om is a confused person on screen as there are three heroines in this film dodging on him. He keeps on changing his thinking and who will be his heroine and how is the interesting climax he says with a smile on his face. For a newcomer this is the right film to make debut says Om speaking to media at Green house restaurant on last Saturday. Om has finished 50 percent of shooting and the last schedule of 30 days will be taken by shortly. Producer Rajeev present at the media meet lauded the learning interest in Om. He is not like let us just do and get away. He takes the reading of his dialogues well in advance and prepares like a student said Rajeev. The remaining portion shooting of the film 'Dhin Dhina Dhina' will be held in Bangalore. Two separate sets will come up for songs said Rajeev answering a question.
Om Puri has a foreign connection
After young actors like Aamir and Vivek romancing foreign beauties in their films, its now time for somebody more seasoned to romance a foreigner. It is our own Om Puri who will romance a Britisher in an Indian production. The film is I Do I Don't. It is being made by Prakash Jha's production company and will be directed by Ajay Sinha- a popular TV director. He plays a flirtatious guy in the film who confesses his love to a British lady. The film will commence shooting in Kuala Lumpur very soon. The British lady opposite him is yet to be finalized. This is his first bollywood film where he has a British co-star. He has worked with foreign co stars in East is East. He is quite excited, as the experience will be different from his others so far. It is partly serious partly comedy. It talks about relationships in a different way al together. He is currently shooting for Farhaan Akhtar's Don. He previously had worked with him in Lakshya. He is also excited about his next release Malamaal Weekly with Paresh Rawal. He plays a milkman in the film. He dismisses all the news of actor rivalry with Paresh Rawal. He is happy to have worked with Priyadarshan in most of his Hindi films.
Om Puri and Satish Kaushik team up
After a long time we will see two comedy sultans teaming up together. The last time they worked together, they left the audiences tickled with a black comedy Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron. And now, as many as 23 years after that film, we will see them sharing the screen together in Rajan Kothari's film Panga Na Lo. The film also has Supriya Pathak, Viju Khote, Navni Parihar and newcomers Kunal Roy and Priyanka Yadav. The film is about two families headed by Satish Shah and Om Puri respectively. The two actors jumped at the offer as soon as the script was revealed to them. Guess they're also pretty excited about working with each other after a long time.
Om Puri teaming up with buddies
Om Puri is all set for his next film Panga Na Le. Incidentally, the movie is made by Rajan Kothari who happens to be a batch-mate of Om Puri from Pune's Film Institute. Puri role is of a Punjabi whose best friend is his neighbor who is a Gujrati. Satish Shah plays that role. Even Satish happens to be alumni of FTII. Om Puri also plays the role of a sex-crazy husband in the movie.
OM SHANTI OM music in mid-September
Wait for hearing the music of one of the biggest films of 2007 would finally be over in around a month from now. OM SHANTI OM, an extravagant offering from Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan, is aiming for a November 9th release. The film's promotion is all set to get started in a week from now while the music album is expected to hit the stands somewhere around middle of September. Music of film has been in news ever since the project was announced. To begin with A.R. Rahman was finalised as a composer. Later due to certain differences over holding of rights, replacement for Rahman was sought and duo of Vishal-Shekhar was instead roped in. Also, services of Pyarelal [of Lakshmikant-Pyarelal duo] were sought to arrange one of the songs from the film. As per insiders, Vishal and Shekhar have come up with a terrific soundtrack that traverses genres. A complete Bollywood soundtrack that goes with the 'masala' flavor of the film, OM SHANTI OM is one music album to watch out for as it hits the stands next month.
Om Puri The right choice
True lovers of the art of cinema in India can now watch out for some radical and fast developments in the work of National Film Development Corporation of India if the newly elected chairman of the film corporation Om Puri brings into reality his visions for the old establishment. NFDC, the state run film financing body contributed a lot in the growth of Indian cinema during the 1970's and 80's when it played an important role in supporting the movement called the new wave of Indian cinema which resulted in a new approach to film making, production of several critically acclaimed movies and was also instrumental in giving chances for actors like Om Puri to showcase their talent. With a film personality like Om puri at the helm of affairs, the now limping film corporation can hope to revive its film promotion functions and once again try to make the institution a supporting platform for emerging film makers and actors. Om puri said to the press that, first the concept of cooperative film production will be seriously considered. This concept will totally rely on its success on the established names in the industry, mostly the stars. The actor only gets a percentage of his original pay package before the film goes to the floors. The rest of his remuneration will be added to the production cost of the film. Upon the film's release the rest of the money will be paid to the lead actor. The seasoned actor also reminded the media that NFDC came into existence for promoting good cinema and to make issue based films which convey strong messages for the public and the first priority of the corporation will always be to encourage new talent. He also explained why this organization started for the growth of films lost its focus somewhere down the years due to lack of resources and also because of not adopting new methods to produce and distribute films according to the changing times. It's for sure that Om Puri will be having a deep emotional attachment for the organization which helped in shaping up his career and credentials as a great actor and precisely because of this reason we can have complete faith in him as the new chairman of National Film Development Corporation. So after a long time, can we expect sunny days ahead for NFDC?
