Omkara title song creates a strong buzz

Vishal Bhardwaj has done the trick, both in the capacity of a director and a musician! While his OMKARA has been in news since its conceptualization phase to the present times when it is getting ready for release, what has increased the awareness exponentially is one single song promo! Title song 'Omkara' has been premiered on the small screen around a week back and in this short duration has managed to generate a strong buzz about the film. So far there were tid-bits in the form of film's stills or short single frame teasers introducing the characters but this 30 second song promo establishes the rustic'n'earthy look, feel and attitude of the film. With a lively folksy base that sets the pace for the film, title song of 'Omkara' shows the entire starcast of the film and the actor who impresses most is not Ajay Devgan, who plays the title role, but Saif Ali Khan! Watch out for his scheming mean look with stubble on and a short haircut and you will know what we mean!

OMKARA craze starts heating up

While there are number of movies like Corporate, Golmaal, Ahista Ahista, Aryan - Unbreakable, The Killer, Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota and Anthony Kaun Hai? releasing this July, one movie for which the craze is unparalleled is Vishal Bhardwaj's OMKARA. Why? Because the pre-release hype and an aggressive publicity have already done the trick. To make matters more interesting, short introduction of the film is out which has been presented as a work of literature. Have a look: Once upon a time in the East In a world ruled by outlaws, a world that lived by the trigger There was a single clan that was held together by loyalty Friendship tied their hearts, adversities strengthened their bonds But beneath all the merry lay eyes, lurking eyes that shone of envy Beneath the greed lay a gut, a gut infected with deceit Beneath the deceit lay a heart, a heart that only knew how to love ....And to kill for the same No wonder, Omkara is fast turning out to be a must-watch film of the month!

Omkara Awaited With Baited Breath

Omkara. Dolly. Langda. Keshu. Billo Chaman Bahar. Bhaisahab and Vishal Bharadwaj. Add the name of scriptwriter William Shakespeare. And you have the Desi version of the classic tragedy Othello. 'Omkara' is easily the most awaited film. As the D-Day: 28th July is fast approaching, the decibel levels of expectations are growing higher and higher. The film industry is buzzing with the extraordinary performances by lead pair Ajay Devgan and Kareena Kapoor, while the whole starcast is vouching for Saif Ali Khan's devilish act worthy of many an award. The smoldering-with-magic music by Vishal himself is being loved by all. While 'Beedi Jalayi Le' and 'Omkara' is a rage amongst the masses, 'O Saathi Re' and 'Laakad' are the favourites of connoisseurs. Gulzar's lyrics are like molten lava that heats up things with unconventional-yet-simple imagery. One thing that has caught the attention is the poster and publicity designing. The rustic earthen feel literally flows out of the picture images that are doting the newspapers, cinema hoardings or wallpapers on the internet. 'Omkara' is the story of Othello and Desdemona and how jealousy kills a relationship. The sixteenth century idea has been adapted into the mafia infested interiors of India's Western UP in today's times. Vishal also promises a surprise at the end, something that may make King Shakespeare turn around in his grave. Here's looking forward to 'Omkara' with baited breath.

Omkara Doing Well Overseas

The makers of 'Omkara' are claiming that there are concerted attempts to pull down their film by filmmakers who are having a big release coming up shortly. It is being said that the women are being paid to walk out of the film midway to create an image that it's not a film for ladies and kids. Producer Ajay Devgan's take on that, 'Omkara' has been given an 'A' certificate and it's not meant to be a children's movie in the first place. Although, it's doing well in metros like Mumbai and Delhi, the reports are not encouraging in the interiors of the country. But the overseas market has seen an encouraging trend. Here are a few figures to confirm that. 'Omkara' opened with an excellent box office response during the release weekend the world over, including major international markets like UK, US, UAE and Australia. It raced to UK Top 10 charts as per EDI Neilson reports along with Hollywood films like Cars, Break Up, Pirates of the Caribbean, Superman Returns and Garfield 2. Box office collections for the opening weekend grossed to GBP 91,294 with a screen average of 3070. In US, it found a place in Variety's Top 20 US Box Office charts with a screen average of over USD9094. This was more than the screen average for other films from the top 20 charts like Miami Vice, John Tucker Must Die, The Ant Bully and Scoop, which got released during the same weekend. The gross collections exceeded $427,000 in just three days. Screen average for UAE was USD 11,878 with gross collections of USD 178,179 for the opening weekend. Gross collections in Australia for the same weekend were A$34,571, with a screen average of A$4940. According to MX News (Sydney), Vishal Bhardwaj's bold adaptation signifies that Bollywood has finally come of age.

Omkara is Vishals best work?

Vishal Bharadwaj is busy winning awards-n-adulation all over the world for his rapturous adaptation of Shakepeare's Othello, 'Omkara'. But what is being ignored (slightly) in all this exaltation for Vishal the new age director is Vishal, the fascinating music composer. In fact his music score for 'Omkara' is undoubtedly his best work till date. And the best part about 'Omkara's' music is that it appeals to both masses as well as classes at the same time. If the title track 'Omkara', 'Beedi' and 'Namak' have an earthen feel for all round entertainment then 'O Saathi Re', 'Jag Ja', 'Naina' and' Laakad' touch the deep chord of thoughtfulness within. It was a glorious surprise to listen to Vhsial's fabulously soothing singing vocals in 'O Saathi Re' while his wife Rekha Bharadwaj's powerful rendition of 'Namak' and 'Laakad' is worthy of winning all the popular and critical awards this year. Vishal Bharadwaj started his career with Gulzar's 'Maachis' and followed it with Ram Gopal Verma's 'Satya' and his very own 'Maqbool'. He has never been a music composer in hurry to get ahead in the rat race. Today he is a director of repute and the adrenaline rush of being taken seriously by the big wigs of the film industry is also reflecting in his music as well. For he can do things the way he wants to. And then he has a wonderful lyricist in the form of Gulzar who always saves the best verse for him. 'Omkara' is undoubtedly Vishal's best and most flawless work till date. He can only get better from here on. Hopefully he shall continue surprising with his unique musical idiom in the future as well.
