'Paathshaala' to open on April 16

In April when most of the schools will be gearing to close down for its annual vacations, then this reel school will open… Director Milind Ukey’s film 'Paathshaala' is reported to release on 16th April. The film starring Shahid Kapoor, Ayesha Takia and Nana Patekar, is based on the drawbacks of the contemporary education system. Presented by Eros International, 'Paathshaala' is produced by choreographer Ahmed Khan and his wife Shaira under the banner Paperdoll Entertainment. Says Ahmed, “Since the subject matter is how the education system exercises pressure on children, my film is getting a lot of attention and I have been approached by many people who want to tie up with me.” The film has attempted to reflect an interesting aspect as well – by portraying how kids’ reality show has adverse affect on children.

Paathshaala’ is about the education system

“Paathshaala” director Milind Ukey is tired of people constantly comparing his film with Aamir Khan’s “Taare Zameen Par” and says he is highlighting macro issues of the “education system at large”. “People are comparing ‘Paathshaala’ to ‘Taare Zameen Par’, but when they see the film they will realise both are very different,” Ukey said in an interview. ” ‘Taare Zameen Par’ was about one child suffering from dyslexia and my film talks about the education system at large. Our issue and scope are bigger,” he added. The Shahid Kapoor-starrer, choreographer-director Ahmad Khan’s debut production venture, is primarily about the Indian education system and deals with contemporary and socially relevant issues regarding children. Ukey worked with child stars like Swini Khare from “Cheeni Kum”, Ali Haji from “Fanaa”, Dwij Yadav from “Nanhe Jaisalmer” and Avika Gor of “Balika Vadhu” fame apart from others. Talking about his experience of working with children, Ukey said: “Handling almost 100 kids every day was not a cakewalk. Managing their mood swings, their study routines, etc., was difficult but at the same time once we knew how to communicate with them we were able to handle them better and it became a pleasurable experience.” “Paathshaala”, which is slated to release April 16 and was completed in 36 days, also stars Ayesha Takia.

Sunny Leone to speak in Hindi, pathshala in progress

The firangi divas never had it so good in Bollywood. In Shoojit Sircar's "Madras Cafe" Nargis Fakhri, whose Hindi is still shaky (read: non-existent), conveniently plays a half-British journalist. Every single spoken line of hers is in English with Hindi subtitles for those who don't follow her global twang. Now in "Jackpot The Full Jhol", Sunny goes a step further. She will speak her own Hindi lines. A full-fledged Hindi-Urdu tutor has been deployed for the purpose. Director Kaizad Gustad smiles at memories of another firangi actress in his debut film "Boom". Kaizad had introduced Katrina Kaif in the film. Her Hindi then was non-existent. And her dialogues had to be dubbed. Now Kaizad gets Sunny to be one-up on Katrina in "Jackpot". "Sunny is the only female character in 'Jackpot'. And I hope to display her acting chops. We're reading the script every day. She will do her own Hindi dialogues. We're working on it every day. "She is really one of the hardest-working actresses I've worked with. Just like Katrina. When Katrina came to Mumbai she didn't know a word of Hindi," Gustad said. Sunny, who made her Bollywood debut with the 2012 film "Jism 2", seems mighty charged with the challenge of mastering the 'rashtra-bhasha'. She will also be seen in "Ragini MMS" sequel. "I have learned all my Hindi lines for all my movies here. Even though 'Jism 2' was dubbed I still had to learn every single word. And in 'Ragini MMS' too I will be dubbing my own voice. "It's very important to me to learn and work hard to get it right. I am extremely competitive so when someone tells me I can't do something like act, dance, express emotions on screen, or speak Hindi, all it makes me do is work harder to prove all those negative people wrong," she said. "Jackpot" also stars Makarand Despande, who plays a funny twisted Konkani cop and Tamil star Bharath. "It's basically a jhol (conflict) between Sachiin Joshi and Bharath with Sunny Leone pulling a fast one on them, and Naseer pulling a faster one. I am raring to finish. I've a lot of films to make. I am making three uninterrupted back-to-back films in the next one year," Gustad said.

Shahid excited to relive early days, thanks Paathshaala

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor is set to relive his childhood days with a visit to his school and an old house in Delhi where he lived for over 10 years — as part of a promotional tour for his upcoming film “Paathshaala”. “It’s a nostalgic feeling for me to go back to my school ‘Gyan Bharti Public School’ where I studied till fourth standard. I also hope to go to my old house B-16 Saket where I stayed for 10 years with my maternal grandparents. “Delhi is like home for me and it will be nice especially for a film like ‘Paathshaala’, which is all about students and education. It’s a great opportunity for me and I am excited,” Shahid said in a statement. “Everybody visits different cities for promoting their films but when we were working on ‘Paathshaala’, we decided that we would visit Shahid’s school and his old house too,” film producer Ahmed Khan said. “Shahid had mentioned that he never thought of going to his old house even though he has been to Delhi several times after permanently shifting base to Mumbai. We will be going there next week. “Shahid wants to visit his old house and also meet the tenants who stay there now. He fondly remembers the old house, and the fact that he used to walk to his school which was 7-8 minutes away. It will be a walk down the memory lane, which is exactly what our film is all about,” he said. “Paathshaala”, directed by Milind Ukey, is primarily about the Indian education system. It deals with contemporary and socially relevant issues regarding children. The film, which releases April 16, also stars Ayesha Takia.
