Masumeh was amongst the lucky few to attend the AMFAR event organized by Sharon Stone. It was almost a dream come true to rub shoulders with the Hollywood bigwigs. An event organized by Sharon Stone for AIDS awareness, AMFAR raises money for the purpose. In a single evening they raised a good 7 million dollars. It was quite a celebrity studded event with the cast members of Oceans 13 like George Clooney, Matt Daman, Andre Gracia etc. present. They auctioned off a kiss with George Clooney which a husband bought for his wife for 35000 dollars, it can only happen at Cannes! Steven Soderbergh, Robert Redriguiz (Director of Sin City), designers Roberto Cavalla were there. It was spectacular to meet such talented people under one roof. Also in attendance were super models Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Dita von Tesse who did a strip show sponsored by Mac. Kylie Minogue performed a couple of her songs in order to raise money for the charity. The event was also graced by internationally acclaimed photographer Mario Testino (he has shot every celebrity in the world) who actually made live special edition photographs for people for a fee of 10,000 dollars. Says Masumeh, "It was really a fun event to see stars from every part of the world and I was fortunate to have been invited to the event. It really showed how one can use their celebrity status to help a cause." Masumeh has earlier acted in films like CHUPKE SE, MAQBOOL, PADMASHREE LALOO PRASAD YADAV and WOH LAMHE. She would soon be seen in DUS KAHANIYAAN.
With Luv...Tumhara - A film with record comebacks
Upcoming small budget film 'With Luv...Tumhara' may as well create a record for itself in terms of featuring number of actors making a comeback with the film. While leading lady Preeti Jhangiani has much to look forward to this film after her central protagonist act in 'Chand Ke Paar Chalo' went unnoticed early this year, the film's leading heroes too would be pining their hopes on the film. Parvin Dabbas would be appearing in his first mainstream lead hero role after acting in films like 'Monsoon Wedding', 'Muskaan', 'Lakshya', 'Kuch Meetha Ho Jaaye' and 'Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maara' to name a few. Also making a comeback would be Nakul Vaid who gained a lot of appreciation for his small act in 'Ab Tak Chappan' [as Nana Patekar's junior] but good projects still didn't fall in his lap. Both Parvin and Nakul have a lot to look forward to when 'With Luv..Tumhara' releases. This is not all as 2 more females looking at making a comeback with the film would be Anupama Verma and Moushmi Chatterjee! Anupama's last release has been 'Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav' [2005] and it has been a good year and a half since she was seen last on the big screen. On the other hand Moushmi Chatterjee's last big project was 'Na Tum Jano Na Hum' [2002] after which she has been seen in released-today-gone-tomorrow films like 'Hum Kaun Hain' [2004] and 'Jalwa - Fun In Love' [2005]. With its entire principal starcast looking forward to a comeback, 'With Luv...Tumhara' would indeed need a lot of love from the audience to make a mark for itself!
Johny Lever back to his best with '36 China Town'
Everyone who has watched '36 China Town' is unanimous in noticing one fact i.e. Johny Lever being at his best. His comic act has been amazing with the vintage touch pretty visible while his scenes with Paresh Rawal never failed to set the house on fire. Success of the film would be sweetest for Johney Lever who has been facing tough competition from Rajpal Yadav for last few years. 2003 was the least year when he was the TOP COMEDIAN with hits like Koi Mil Gaya, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, Chalte Chalte and Andaaz. But since then it has been all downhill with projects like Market, Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav and Saawan - The Love Season that hardly created any ripples at the box office. Overdose of stuck films like Banana Brothers, Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai and Khullam Khulla Pyaar Kare coming in quick succession meant that whatever good work he had done phased away unnoticed! But with '36 China Town' bringing him a big league success once again, all eyes must be set on his next release 'Phir Hera Pheri' where he gangs up with the likes of Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Suneil Shetty all over again after 'Awara Paagal Deewana' and 'Deewane Huey Paagal'!
Tid-bits you wanted to know about Tathastu
HIT team of immensely successful 'Dus' unite again for their dramatic social "Tathastu'. The movie is about to be released by the end of this month and we present below some of the important facts and tid-bits about the film's storyline and execution: 1) 'Tathastu' is a Sanskrit word. It symbolizes the affirmative response by deities to their disciples' wishes. That's the reason why the tagline of the film reads - 'So Be It'. 2) 'Tathastu' brings together actor Sanjay Dutt, producer Nitin Manmohan and director Anubhav Sinha yet again after the success of 'Dus'. 3) While 'Dus' was a hardcore actioner, 'Tathastu' has a great dramatic appeal. 4) The film is about a father's [Sanjay Dutt] struggle against the injustice done to his daughter. Sanjay Dutt played a role on similar lines a few years for Mahesh Manjrekar's 'Pitaah'. 5) While 'Pitaah' had a village setting, 'Tathastu' has an urban setting with Sanjay Dutt enacting the role of Ravi Rajput, a 40 year-old factory supervisor. 6) Yet again, Sanjay Dutt is forced to take up law in his own hands as he fights against the "society" and "system'. 7) Amisha Patel, approximately half the age of Sanjay Dutt, plays his wife. Incidentally Amisha Patel had her biggest success [Gadar-Ek Prem Katha] when she played the wife of much older Sunny Deol. Also, she had one of her biggest flop with Sunny paaji recently in the form of 'Teesri Aankh - The Hidden Camera]. 8) Jayaprada makes a comeback after an inconsequential role in 'Khakee'. In 'Tathastu', she plays a doctor and is said to have given a great performance. 9) Gulshan Grover is what he is BEST at - playing BAD MAN, though in a much sophisticated manner. 10) 'Tathastu' would also mark the return of Manoj Pahwa, who played a funny cop in 'Being Cyrus'. 11) As per industry buzz, 'Tathastu' has a unique and terrific script, something that hasn't been ever seen before on an Indian screen. 12) The film is written by Yash-Vinay who have earlier written screenplay of 'Dus', 'Viruddh', 'Plan', 'Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav' and 'Kaante'. Their next release would be Vikram Bhatt's 'Ankahee'. 13) The film's highlight is a 8-minute long non-stop dialogue delivery by Sanjay Dutt in the confines of the Yerwada jail in Pune. The scene was shot using 6 cameras and had more than 2000 junior artists. 14) The film has only one song in form of a 'qawalli'. As per composer Vishal-Shekhar, its one of those intense 'qawallis' that are a must watch. It is sung by a man called Humsar Hayat who is a chief qawall at Nizamuddin mosque, New Delhi. Also it has some really gorgeous lyrics by Panchi. 15) The film was completed in a record span of less than a month.
