The then music director TV Raju who gave melodious tunes to the all-time classic 'Panduranga Mahatmyam' with NT Rama Rao and Anjali Devi in the lead. The audio has become so popular that even today those songs are being enjoyed by the audiences. Especially the song 'Amma Ani Arichinaa Aalakinchavemamma' had become very popular and it is quite heart touching. Taking those songs as an inspiration, Keeravani scored music for its latest remake 'Pandurangadu' and all those also got a very good response from the current generation audiences. While director K. Raghavendra Rao decided to dedicate the film to the late NT Rama Rao, the music director expressed the wish to dedicate the audio to TV Raju. This was announced by the film unit at a recent media conference.
'Pandurangadu' set to hit screen on May 30
Directed by K Raghavendra Rao and produced by K Krishna Mohana Rao on the banner of RK Film Associates 'Pandurangadu', with Balakrishna, Sneha and Tabu in the lead is all set for release on May 30. Balakrishna says, 'I got an opportunity to play in the remake of a film in which my father played the lead which remained an all-time classic. It was really a boon for all the unit members to work for such a wonderful movie. There are a total of 16 songs and Keeravani gave melodious tunes to all of them. Already the audio received a very good response.' K Viswanath, Brahmanandam, Sunil, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Balayya, LB Sriram, Prasadbabu, Anant, Sameer, Archana, Suhasini, Meghana Naidu, Y Vijaya, Sana, Sivaparvathi, Sireesha, Bhargavi, Neethu, Baby Kavya and others are in the cast. Story and dialogues are by JK Bharavi, music is by Keeravani, cinematography is by V Jayaram, while editing is by Srikara Prasad.
Balakrishna to play dual role in 'Pandurangadu'
It is well aware that director K Raghavendra Rao who have two periodical hit films to his credit with Nagarjuna like 'Annamayya' and 'Sri Ramadasu' is now planning a film 'Pandurangadu' with Balakrishna in the lead. It is reliably learnt that Balakrishna is playing dual roles in the film including the Lord Panduranga Swamy and the devotee Pundarika. While the first half of the film would be romantic and the second half would be total devotional. JK Bharavi and MM Keeravani, who worked as writer and music director for the earlier two periodicals with Raghavendra Rao have teamed up again with him for this flick. Another interesting point to note is that Suman, who won critical acclaim for his roles in Annamayya and Sri Ramadasu is also playing a key role in this film. This is the next film to roll for Balakrishna after 'Maharathi'. It may be mentioned that the late NT Ramarao-starrer 'Panduranga Mahatmyam' was a big hit those days and his son is following the tradition. We have to wait and watch how Raghavendra Rao would mould this story, though he is well known for making romantic as well as devotional flicks with similar ease.
'Pandarangadu' to shoot songs in Thailand, Indonesia
Now, if that comes as a huge surprise, then rest assured what you are reading is true. Yes, the team is preparing to leave for south-east Asian countries soon. The devotional film being directed by K Raghavendra Rao has Balakrishna playing the lead, along with six heroines. He plays the god and his devotee. Naturally, the story does not call for locales abroad. However, the ingenious team decided to take advantage of history and say that since Thailand, Indonesia and Cambodia have historically been Hindu nations, and hence would be ideal to picturise some songs there. Apparently, they will shoot some devotional songs, instead of the usual masala item songs. Well, surely our industry is going places!!
'Panduranga' unit in Pandaripuram
The unit of 'Ranga Panduranga', starring Balakrishna, Tabu, Archana, Sneha among others left for Pandipuram recently. Today they begin shooting of a schedule which will be shot in various locations around the pilgrim centre. The makers say the decision has been made to retain the authenticity of the story, despite the heavy costs they would incur. The film has Balakrishna playing a double role. It is being directed by K Raghavendra Rao, who seems to be becoming a pro in making devotional films. He had earlier made films such as 'Ramadas', 'Annamayya' among others. The film is being produced by K Krishna Mohan Rao.
'Rangaa Panduranga' launch in June
The shooting of 'Rangaa' Panduranga' directed and produced by K Raghavendra Rao on the banner of RK Associates with Yuva Ragna Nandamuri Balakrishna playing a dual role as the devotee and Lord Panduranga, would be launched in June. Prominent writer JK Bharavi, who gave stories to films like 'Sri Manjunatha, Annamayya and Sri Ramadasu' is again penning script for the movie. It is reliably learnt that the film is being made with the inspiration of the popular classic 'Panduranga Mahatmyam' of the late NT Ramarao. It remained a classic and all-time hit devotional film and a masterpiece. The performance of the late NT Ramarao and music by TV Raju gave such a stature to the film. Director K Raghavendra Rao is committed to make the film on par with that biggest and all-time hit film. MM Keeravani is providing tunes for the latest movie.
