This Friday Bollywood sees the directorial debut of internationally acclaimed director Pandya Nalinkumar Ramniklal. You may ask 'Pandya' who? Well, let's give you a hint. He is the man whose film has already traveled 60 countries and won dozens of international awards. Still struggling? Then let's reveal the name of the movie. It's SAMSARA, a film with an international cast and crew that has mesmerized the audience globally. "Oh yes", you may exclaim, "but isn't the film's director known as Pan Nalin?" Yes, you got it right but if you want to know more about what goes behind Pan Nalin, it is Pan for Pandya, his first name, while Nalin comes from Nalinkumar, his middle name! The story goes like this. Pan made a number of short films before making SAMSARA and his name was being used in different abbreviated versions for the purpose of crediting. Since his films were made primarily in WEST, it was not a lucrative idea to have such a long tongue twister name to be pronounced by the West. Hence the short'nsweet name, Pan Nalin!
Bale Pandya comes back
Producer- director Sakthi Chidambaram is churning out Pazhani starring Bharath. Perarasu, who has also penned the lyrics, is directing the movie. Also Sakthi Chidambaram is wielding the megaphone for a movie that would star Sundar C in the lead role. The Sakthi ' Sundar C movie has been tentatively titled Bale Pandya. It may be recalled that it is the title of a yesteryear classic starring thespian Sivaji Ganesan in the lead role. Sakthi has planned a hilarious entertainer in Bale Pandya. Sundar C is currently busy with Veerappu and Perumal. Once he completes those movies, he would be available for Bale Pandya. Sakthi Chidambaram's last directorial venture Vyapari featured S J Suryah in the lead role.
'Pandarangadu' to shoot songs in Thailand, Indonesia
Now, if that comes as a huge surprise, then rest assured what you are reading is true. Yes, the team is preparing to leave for south-east Asian countries soon. The devotional film being directed by K Raghavendra Rao has Balakrishna playing the lead, along with six heroines. He plays the god and his devotee. Naturally, the story does not call for locales abroad. However, the ingenious team decided to take advantage of history and say that since Thailand, Indonesia and Cambodia have historically been Hindu nations, and hence would be ideal to picturise some songs there. Apparently, they will shoot some devotional songs, instead of the usual masala item songs. Well, surely our industry is going places!!
Pandian passes away
Actor Pandian, who made his debut along with Revathi in Bharathiraja's 'Mann Vasanai', passed away this morning in Madurai. The actor, who gave many hits in eighties, was suffering from jaundice for quite some time. Treatment was given to him in various hospitals in various places including Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai. He was finally admitted in a hospital in Madurai, as his condition got worsened. More details on his death are awaited. Musicmazaa expresses its deep condolence for the demise of the actor.
'Pandhayam' The game begins
Hitesh Jhabak whose production house Nemichand Jhabak Productions made the successful films 'Naan Avan Illai', 'Anjathey' and 'Pandi'. The producer has now collaborated with S. A. Chandrasekhar's production house V.V. Creations for the under-production film 'Pandhayam'. The film stars Nithin Sathya and Sindhu Tholani in lead roles. A major attraction of the film would be the fact that Vijay plays a cameo in the form of a guest role. The film is directed by S. A. Chandrasekhar and has the music of Vijay Antony. Expected to be a typical S. A. Chandrasekhar movie, the film would have the right mix of emotions, action and of course love. Nithin Sathya plays a die hard Vijay fan in the film.
'Pandhayam' to hit screens on 19 September
Veteran director S. A. Chandrasekhar's 'Pandhayam' will hit the screens on 19 September. Produced by V. V. Creations and Hitesh Jhabak, the movie features Nithin Sathya, Sindhu Tolani and Prakash Raj in lead roles. Songs by Vijay Anthony are already topping the charts. An optimistic Chandrasekhar says, 'the movie would woo youngsters. It has got everything in it to entertain the masses'. The highlight is Vijay playing a cameo in the film. He appears as the actor himself alongside director Perarasu. 'I am happy that I got an opportunity to work with a seasoned director like S A Chandrasekhar so early in my career, says Nithin Sathya. He appears as a Vijay fan in the movie. 'Raman Thediya Seethai' also releases on the same day.
