Actor-director Bhagyaraj's Parijatham, which introduces his daughter Saranya on the big screen will be releasing this Friday. The film has been ready and waiting for release since last six months. The elections and the political climate in the State were the reasons for the delay. The movie which has story, screenplay, dialogues and direction by Bhagyaraj features Prithviraj in the lead role. Being distributed by Oscar Ravichandran , the movie is expected to open up in many theatres. Bhagyaraj, who recently joined DMK, is hopeful that the movie would click. The movie has musical score by Dharan and character artistes like Sarath Babu and Prakash Raj will add to the story's weight. There is also good expectation over Saranya's performance as she has the right genes for acting.
Parijatham - Soft is in
The good run of Parijatham has given Kollywood a pleasant surprise. Considered a hero-oriented industry, the good response to the soft romantic tale has surprised many in the trade. Scripted and directed by K Bhagyaraj, Parijatham featuring Prithviraj and Saranya is witnessing a decent run. Has the tastes and preferences of audience changing? According to Bhagyaraj, 'Certainly not. Audience have always been receptive to good films. Movies with strong storyline and script have always clicked'. A good movie should have a good story, an engrossing script and artistes who can give life to the whole idea conceived by the director, he adds. A section of distributors do feel that the good opening for movies like Parijatham would embolden others to come out with such movies. People are tired of watching similar themes and overdose of violence these days. Thankfully Parijatham came at the right time.
'Padikathavan' goes to floors
Dhanush is optimistic of 'Yaradi Nee Mohini's' success at the box office. The movie, a remake of Telugu hit 'Adavari Mataluku Ardhale Verulae', directed by Jawahar, features Nayantara opposite Dhanush. It is a jovial and entertaining film and I am sure that it would rock, he says. Meanwhile, the shooting for his next 'Padikathavan', directed by Suraj, kicked off on Saturday. Featuring Tamanna opposite him, the movie is produced by Vijaya Vauhini Productions. On the tough competition to excel in the industry, he says, 'Becoming an actor is easy, but sustaining in the field isn't. You must constantly hone your acting, fighting and dancing skills. Heroes are killing themselves to give that one hit. Never before in the history of Tamil cinema have we seen such a burgeoning band of heroes. To survive the race, one must be multi-talented'.
' Padikathavan' It's the turn of Superstar's film title
It seems that following up on Rajinikanth's hit films and even borrowing film names of the superstar is here to stay in Kollywood for some time to come. Dhanush who is called as Radha Krishnan in a new film is the latest to get inspired from the films of his father in law. The young actor is not trying for a remake but is just borrowing the title of the Rajinikanth hit 'Padikathavan' which sounds almost similar to his previous hit movie 'Polladhavan'. The shooting of this film has already started and an action sequence between the hero and some rowdies is being canned at a grand set erected near the Karaikudi Nemam Sri Jayamkonda Solleshwarar Temple. Actor Suman plays the character of the heroine Tamanna's father who owns the temple. The main theme of the movie is about a problem faced by the hero just because he is an uneducated youth who comes from a very well educated family. Tamanna comes in the role of a software professional from a high class society who falls in love with the uneducated hero. The title 'Padikathavan' is aptly suited for the movie as it speaks about the nature of the hero's character. May be the story of this film was inspired and conceived just from the title of superstar old movie.
