Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who is in the midst of shooting "Kapoor and Sons", says he did not recognise his "Damini" co-star Meenakshi Seshadri on meeting her after many years. The 62-year-old actor took to micro-blogging website Twitter on Wednesday morning to share a photograph of the former actress and asked his fans to guess who the actress was. "Any guesses who this is? I didn't recognise her for a moment. What a lovely surprise. Name in 30 mins no hints," Rishi tweeted. The "Bobby" actor received many answers. He then replied: "99% got it right. Meenakshi Sheshadhari as always whenever in Mumbai pays us a visit unannounced. Looking gorgeous." Rishi also told his fans and well-wishers about the "Damini" actress' whereabouts and tweeted : "Damini, MS, lives happily with hubby Harish Mysore and 2 kids, girl and a boy in Dallas, U.S. Visiting relatives, can work in film if a good role." Rishi and Meenakshi have also worked together in films like "Vijay", "Sadhna", "Ghar Parivar","Bade Ghar Ki Beti" and "Gharana". Last week, Meenakshi was seen at an event in Mumbai and she quashed rumours that she may be seen in the sequel of her 1990 hit film "Ghayal", saying she is "not interested in films at this point".
It’s Hrithik, not Abhishek in ‘Agneepath’ remake
It’s official. Karan Johar finally admits it is Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra in the “Agneepath” remake. Speaking officially for the first time about the casting of the “Agneepath” remake, Karan Johar coolly and cleverly passes on the buck to his novice director Siddharth Malhotra for Abhishek Bachchan’s non-presence in the remake…a casting digression that jolted everyone who thought Abhishek was a natural and inevitable inheritor of the “Agneepth” role. Says Karan: “When my father (late Yash Johar) produced ‘Agneepath’, he left everything to his director Mukul Anand and kept completely away from the project. I’m carrying on the family tradition.” “The casting for the ‘Agneepath’ remake was decided by the director Siddharth Malhotra. He decided on Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra. Why Hrithik and not Abhishek? I think Siddharth has his own ideas on how to present the character. I think the protagonist in the new ‘Agneepath’ would be very different from how he was in the original.” The script for the new “Agneepath” is also entirely revamped. Priyanka Chopra won’t play a nurse, like Madhavi had done in the original. And Mithun Chakraborty’s character from the original has been done away with completely. If there was any tension about the Bachchan scion Abhishek not even being approached for the remake of “Agneepath”, it was wiped away Wednesday and Thursday last week at the Haute Couture Week where it was crystal-clear that the Bachchans still treated Karan as part of their family. At Manish Malhotra’s fashion show Wednesday night, Abhishek, more baffled than hurt by not even being asked to do the “Agneepath” remake, walked up and warmly hugged Karan. The following evening, Karan coaxed the original “Agneepath” protagonist Amitabh Bachchan to walk the ramp with star of the remake Hrithik Roshan, thereby putting an end to all speculation within the film industry about a strain between the Bachchan parivar and Karan over the “Agneepath” issue. Says Karan emotionally: “The Bachchans and my family go back a long way. Our association is not on a film-to-film basis. It doesn’t matter how many films we work in or don’t work in. For the record I will be doing at least 10 more films with Abhishek in my lifetime. He has already done two films with our banner Dharma Productions. He’s doing ‘Dostana 2′ next year.”
Abhishek: Home is where the heart is!
Well, he is all alone and far away from his home land. We are talking about Abhi baby who is flying from one country to the other, we mean literally, for his shoots these days, and the saddest thing for this home bird is that he is not finding time to get back even for a short breaker to India. But then his doting family has come to his rescue. If reports circling B town are true then soon the Bachchan parivar will pack its bags and fly straight to meet their son who is right now shooting in Miami for K Jo's 'Dostana'. Bachchan Jr. is really busy these days shooting for 'Drona' and 'Dilli 6' which will see him pairing with the latest entry Kapoor girl, Sonam Kapoor. In 'Dostana' that is being produced by Karan Johar and directed by Tarun Mansukhani Abhishek Bachchan will be seen sharing screen space with John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra. Karan Johar while speaking on this film to a media had vowed that this was a story way different from others. So lets just wait and see if what K Jo has said comes true.
Bachchans in Buddha?
Seems like almost all the directors these days want to make at least one historical film for themselves. A few days back there was news doing the rounds that Shyam Benegal, who has many Indian and international awards to his credit was going to make a film on Buddha, and there were talks going on with the Roshan scion Hrithik for doing the protagonist's role. It was later reported that the director was in the very early stages of scripting the story and that he has not met or spoken to any hero regarding the role yet, but considered that Hrithik would be an apt choice of this role. The rumor mills were also spinning with the news that another NRI director Pan Nalin was going to make Buddha, and talks were going on with Aishwarya Rai to act as Yasodhara, Buddha's wife, because this story will be directed from Yasodhara's angle. Well, there are more reports on this front. It is reported that Pan Nalin is in talks with Mahindra & Mahindra Group which is going to diverge into the movie business. There is news doing the rounds that the director, Pan Nalin, wants stars with global acclaim for his film and that he would want to direct Amithab and the Bachchan Bahu, Aishwarya as King Shudhodhana and Yasodhara respectively in the film. No news has being emerging from the Bachchan parivar though regarding this. We are aware that Pa and bahu are too busy with a handful of films, and it would be the director's knack if he gets the two biggies of Bollywood to act in his film.
