Parthiban is all thrilled about his Pachchakkuthirra, which is ready to hit theatres on Tamil New Year's day. 'My Pachchakkuthirra is ready to gallop now. It has grown well to cross the race course first,' he says in his own style. Asked about the movie, Parthiban says, 'Pachchakkuthirra is about a callous youth Pachai alias Pachaimuthu and how he faces his life. It is certainly not another Ulle Veliyae for I am tired of facing criticisms now'. Namitha plays a slum girl and interestingly has performed well in the movie. Though the whole movie occurs in a slum, there is no vulgarity or double-meaning dialogues in the movie, adds Parthiban.
Parthiban is steadfast
After stealing the show in Azhagi, actor-director Parthiban is pinning hopes on his next Azhagigal to repeat the magic. The movie is directed by Padma Magan, who had wielded the magephone for Pallavan before. Asked why Pachai Kuthirai failed, Parthiban, said, 'I still keep the movie close to my heart. It had given me immense satisfaction. I played a hero sans any heroism. Though my commercial ventures like Puthiya Pathai and Ulle Velliyae succeded at the box office, it was movies like Sugaman Sumaigal, House Full and Kudaikul Mazhai which gave me satisfaction. I will still continue with my innovations and experiments'. Parthiban also denied rumours that his movies Ade and Rowdy have been shelved. The shooting for these movies would resume soon, he said.
Parthiban as pen-pusher
After Azhagi, actor Parthiban now plays the lead role in a movie titled Azhagigal. Interestingly Parthiban plays the role of a writer, similar to one he performed in Thangar Bachchan's Thendral. The movie is about commercial sex workers. After Pachchakkuthirra, Parthiban is optimistic that Azhagigal would touch the hearts of the film buffs. Would well repeat the magic of Azhagi. Meanwhile, two films featuring Parthiban, Ada and Rowdy has been shelved. Another of his movie initially titled Kartha has now been changed to Sooravali. Parthiban is happy to don the role of a writer in Azhagigal. According to him, 'I play the role without being inspired by any popular writer. It has hopefully come good'. Meanwhile, the actor-director is planning to commence his next directorial venture soon.
Parthiban - A man of novel ideas
Actor-director Parthiban, who started his career as Bhagayaraj's associate, is celebrating his birthday Today. After years of hard struggle, Parthiban made it big with his maiden directorial venture Puthiya Pathai featuring himself in the lead role. Known for his innovative ideas and witty dialogues in his films, Parthiban carved a niche for himself acting in movies like Sugamana Sumaigal, Vetri Kodi Kattu, Pondattti Thevai, Abhimanyu, Azhagi, Puthumai Pithan, Swarnamukhi among others. His House Full, which was produced and directed by him won the National award for Best Regional film for the year 1998. Though his last two ventures Pachakkuthiraa and Kudaikul Mazhai had a decent run, Parthiban is optimistic of turning things around. Let's wish the talented film personality a warm birthday greetings.
Parthiban in the write lane
Playing a soft subdued character of a writer, actor-director Parthiban was at his dignified best in Azhagi. He played a similar role in Thendral. Now in his under-production Ammuvagiya Naan, Parthiban dons the role of a writer again. According to director Padma Magan the thrust has been on the conflict of the common man in his fight for social justice in Ammuvagiya Naan. Debutante Bharathi plays a call girl in the film. She is confident that the movie would be a perfect launch pad for her. Padma Magan is keen to make amends for the setback of Pallavan. 'You learn from the mistakes. I have done my best to make the blend of arts and commercial aspects to a nicety. It is a daringly different movie aimed to touch the pulse of the audience'.
Parthiban in Selvaraghavan's film
Actor- director Parthiban has been cast to play a prominent role in Selvaraghavan's forthcoming directorial venture Ayirathil Oruvan.
