The Music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya, sung by Himeshji, Sonu Nigam , Kunal Ganjawala & Akriti, the song "Dil vich Lagaya veh" is on all channels. When Shabana Azmi Did Playback Singing
Shabana Azmi is a class actor with several National and International Awards to her name. But one role she always wanted to do was re-enacting the part played by Shaukat Kaifi in Muzaffar Ali's 'Umrao Jaan'. She got that opportunity when her friend JP Dutta decided to present another version of novelist Rusva's 'Umrao Jaan Ada'. Shabana herself admits that she gave no option to JP Dutta except herself for fitting into her mother's shoes. During the gala music launch of 'Umrao Jaan' Shabana came along with her mother Shaukat Kaifi. She also admitted that it was an exciting moment for her to replay a part immortalized by her mother. Shabana had earlier acted in a film 'Anjuman' directed by Muzaffar Ali which was also based in Lucknow. And this is her second film to have been based in Avadh culture. Shabana had also sung all the songs in 'Anjuman'. Music was given by veteran composer Khayyam. And I am sure not too many people would be aware about that bit of information. Playback singer Mahadhi to enter wedlock!
Come tomorrow and it will be a very special day for Mahadhi, the playback singer. Yes, the reason is her wedding to Dr. Sree Kumar. Mahadhi was introduced to the film field by 'Isaignani' Ilayaraja. The first film that she sang was for 'Kadhal Jathi'. Though this film has not yet hit the theatres, Mahadhi made a mark for herself with the other songs that came after 'Kadhal Jathi'. She has crooned hit numbers like 'Aiaiyoo Aiaiyoo pidichiriku..' from the film 'Saamy', 'Innisai..' from the Ajith starrer 'Varalaru' and the latest 'Mudhal Maazhai' song from the film 'Bheemaa' starring Vikram and Trisha. 'Mudhal Maazhai..' has been a super-hit song much ahead of the film being released and has taken Mahadhi's fame up by a few more notches. The marriage will take place tomorrow, March 16, 2008, Sunday from AVM Rajeshwari Kalyana Mandapam at 6 am in the morning. The couple will have their wedding reception on the same day, and that is to take place around sunset by 6.30 on the same day. Ace singer Balamurali Krishna's orchestra will grace this occasion. Mahadhi has done her Masters in English Literature and her would be, Sree Kumar, is a Dental Surgeon and facial plastic surgeon by profession. Ever since Samantha let the cat out of the bag saying that she is love and that she will tie the knot and settle down in life, numerous rumours are being written about her personal and professional lives. Telugu playback singer V. Ramakrishna is dead
Veteran Telugu playback singer V. Ramakrishna, who was reportedly undergoing treatment for cancer for quite some time, breathed his last on Wednesday at his residence here. He was 68. "He passed away late last night at his Venkatagiri Hills residence," a family source told. Born in 1947, Ramakrishna, who has nearly 5,000 songs to his credit, started his career as a singer at a very young age on popular show Yuva Vani on All India Radio. Nephew of popular playback singer P. Susheela, Ramakrishna idolised legendary singer Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao. In 1972, he made his singing debut with the Telugu song "Vayase Oka Poolathota" from "Vichitra Bandham". He went on to sing several chartbusters in films such as "Andala Ramudu", "Sharada", "Alluri Seetharama Raju", "Muthyala Muggu" and "Amaradeepam". Ramakrishna is survived his wife Jyothi, son Sai Kiran, a popular Telugu actor and daughter Lekha. His last rites will be performed on Thursday.
P Susheela gets Padma Bhushan, wishes to give playback
She is the nightingale of the south. Having started her illustrious career in 1950, she has sung in various south Indian languages apart from Hindi. Born in Vijayanagaram in Andhra Pradesh in 1935, she sang her first duet with AM Raja in 1950. Like they say, there has been no looking back for her ever since. Known for her melodious voice, she has sung for heroines of five generations. She won the National Award five times in 1969, '72, '78, '83 and '84. These apart, she had received many state government awards apart from the prestigious Raghupati Venkaiah Award given by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2001. Having retired following her husband's death, she makes special appearances at felicitation functions and awards nites these days. She has expressed shock and happiness having received the award. But more than the award, she feels it will revive her career as she is keen to sing once again for the new generation. Like they say -- once a singer, always a singer. Now, wouldn't it be a pleasure to hear our 'Gana Kokila' once again?
