Why do Roshans avoid paying Protection Money?
Roshans are raking in crores at the Box Office after hitting bull's eye with their successive films, but they seem to have a problem with paying trivial amounts to the Mumbai police for providing security to them. In reports published in leading newspapers today, it has come to light that Rakesh Roshan owes Rs 3.52 lakhs while Hrithik Roshan owes Rs 3.4 lakhs to the police for having provided security to them. It may be recalled that Rakesh Roshan survived a near fatal attempt on his life when he was shot-at by the shooters of Abu Salem before the release of 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai'. He along with son Hrithik has been provided with constant police cover since then. Either the Roshans are not aware of the amount they are supposed to pay to the police or they've been plain careless. Let's see if after getting such negative publicity the famous father-son duo cough up the protection fees'.
Playing Leela was huge responsibility for me: Deepika
Actress Deepika Padukone, who featured in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2013 hit film “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela”, says essaying the role of Leela was a big responsibility for her. In an interview to UTV Stars’ show “Yeh Hai Meri Kahani”, the 28-year-old said that before shooting the film, the director thanked her for accepting the role, said a statement. “Weeks before I started shooting ‘Ram-Leela’, Sanjay sir sent me a message, where he thanked me for playing Leela, the importance of Leela in his life and what it meant to him because that’s his mother’s name. So, playing Leela was a huge responsibility for me,” said Deepika. The episode will be aired Saturday.
Playing double role was challenging for Kangana
She has essayed complex roles in films like "Gangster", "Fashion" and "Queen" with perfection, but managing dual roles in "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" turned out to be a challenge for National Award winning actress Kangana Ranaut. "Tanu Weds Manu Returns", a sequel of the 2011 film "Tanu Weds Manu", will revolve around Tanu and Manu's life after four years of their marriage. It will feature Kangana playing double roles of Kusum "Datto" Sangwan and Tanuja "Tanu" Trivedi. Talking about her experience of playing two roles in the sequel, Kangana said: "They are very different. The experience was very challenging. It's usually hard to portray one character, but here I was asked to play two strong characters." "The biggest challenge for me was to essay these two girls with complete conviction, especially when they have scenes together," added the actress, who turned 28 on Monday and was here to launch her new film's poster here. Looking lovely in a Sabyasachi Mukherjee designed outfit for the event, Kangana revealed more about her two characters. "In the beginning of the film, Tanu is more self-centered. She loves herself much more than others. While Dattoo is not like her. She is a complete woman. She is somebody who we would want to be like. "But Tanu is more beautiful and attractive. Dattoo has bunny teeth, she has got a weird accent and there is nothing glamorous about her. She is an athlete. I have played her with more of boyish gestures," she explained. So, how will Madhavan, who will be seen as Manu in the film, cope up with Kangana's dual torture this time? "It takes a lot of effort to look after one wife in real life, but in the film, I'm dealing with two girls. I had a great time filming this one as I learnt a lot from it," he said. Shooting "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" was fun for Madhavan. "I was shooting 'Saala Khadoos' before starting 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' and the challenging part for me was that I finished the last day of 'Saala Khadoos', shaved off and moved into this one. "For that, I was very beefed up and very muscular, so it was really unfortunate that Manu looks like a 'pehelwaan' after four years in this film. But more than the physicality, getting back to Manu was fun... I think it is the freakiest character in my career." "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" is slated to release in end of May.
Playing simple character 'challenging' for Salman
Superstar Salman Khan, who has essayed action-packed roles in films like "Kick", "Dabangg" and "Wanted", says he found it hard to break his macho image in "Bajrangi Bhaijaan". "It was a difficult thing for me right now to play after the 'Dabangg', 'Wanted' and other films. It was challenging to come back to play a simple character," Salman said here. The 49-year-old actor, however, said that "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" does have action to some extent. "There is action and everything (in 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan') but it is simple and all heart. We've shown a typical Hindustani (Indian) character where people get a feeling, 'What a nice guy', 'bechara' (innocent)." "All the action films we do, they need to be backed with emotions. Otherwise, action is pointless," he added. Released on July 17, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", which is co-produced by Salman Khan Films (SKF) with Rockline Venkatesh, is about the bond shared by a Pakistani mute girl, essayed by young and beautiful child artist Harshaali Malhotra, and an Indian man. The film has entered the Rs.100 crore club in its opening weekend itself.
