'PK' crosses Rs.50 crore in two days

Aamir Khan-starrer “PK” has minted over Rs.50 crore in two days in the domestic market, and trade experts expect it do "steady” business in coming days. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film released Friday. Girish Johar, who is aware of the economics of the Hindi film industry, tweeted: “#PK does a 50crs+ in flat 2 days - is now the 4th film of 2014 to get 50crs in 2days - #HappyNewYear #PK #SinghamReturns #Kick" The film, which also stars Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjay Dutt, did better on second day by earning Rs.29 crore, said Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines. “It has collected at least Rs.55 crore in first two days. On the first day, it earned about Rs.26 crore. The next day, it managed to mint Rs.29 crore. They will earn profit, but expectations were higher,” he told. “The film is being liked by people in metropolitan cities. It will maintain steady figures in coming days,” he added. Impressed by "PK", writer Milap Zaveri predicts a "huge run" at the box office. "#PK has great growth on Saturday! This film is set for a looooong and huge run at the box office," he tweeted.

'PK' crosses Rs.200 crore in India

“PK”, a film that “stirs thought and discussion”, continues to perform well at the Indian box office. It has earned Rs.214.14 crore so far. Featuring Aamir as an alien, the film takes a hard hitting swipe at organised religion, god and godmen. Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films, in association with Disney India, released "PK" Dec 19 and since then it has been soaring high at the box office. “PK” collected Rs.17.12 crore on Saturday, read a statement. It is doing phenomenally well in the international market too. The film also stars Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjay Dutt.

PK' collects $7.03 mn in China

Actor Aamir Khan's "PK", which hit the screens in China on May 22, has turned out to be biggest international release for an Indian film across 5,400 screens and a collection of a massive $7.03 million. "PK" had also turned out to be the highest grossing Indian film in Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan, and the highest grossing foreign language movie in North America in 2014. "We are thrilled with the audience response in China. Aamir Khan, Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra travelled across China with our marketing team promoting the film at media and audience events and culminated this with a grand premiere in Shanghai for the film," Amrita Pandey of UTV told. "It was such a warm reception for them in China and now the movie has become a talking point and opened to such phenomenal collections! This is a really proud moment for us, and we are happy to have made this impact in a new market." PKSE encourages in-film promotion

While 'Pyaar Ke Side Effects' is turning out to be an interesting film to watch, primarily due to the pairing of Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat and some funky music by Pritam, it's also in news due to some in-film promotion done as a part of the film's publicity. Publicity stills of the movie revolve around the 'Just Married' couple of Bose and Mallika where Mallika is shown all excited about her journey in life while Bose looks hassled, a little confused and seemingly battered! While striking a comic pose, the two are shown hanging around a bright red two wheeler that is a KINETIC NOVA make. Produced by PNC, PKSE comes close on the heels of 'Ankahee', that was also a PNC product. While 'Ankahee' was a drama revolving infidelity, PKSE is a romantic comedy about a young couple.

PKSE - Greatest Indian love story set in Mumbai?

If there is one flick that has garnered immense hype solely on its own 'dum' over last few days, it is Pritish Nandy's 'Pyaar Ke Side Effects'! A film written and directed by a newcomer Saket Chaudhary and starring Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat [none of whom really are big box office draws in the true sense] may not be everyone's idea of a great business preposition. But PNC thought otherwise, took a well calculated risk and the result is a light hearted comic entertainer with funny moments aplenty that goes by the name of 'Pyaar Ke Side Effects'. With a rocking music by Pritam to boost, the film is turning out to be one of the 'watch-out-for' films this season. No wonder the film is (rightfully) being titled by its makers as "The Greatest Indian love story set in Mumbai"! Is that really the case? Well, it may not be the greatest of all times but it seems to be a frothy entertainer for sure. A few more weeks to go and we should have the answers!

After PKSE, Mallika's next outing is an item song

After a strong author backed performance in 'Pyaar Ke Side Effects', Mallika Sherawat's next big screen outing is in an item song. But is she complaining? Naah! How could someone actually complain when you are asked to perform in a movie with Mani Ratnam as a director? This is the reason why Mallika Sherawat, in a guest appearance in the film, has a lot to enjoy in 'Guru' where she jives to the sensuous number 'Mayya Mayya'. A beautiful innovative tune set to music by A.R.Rahman, it has all in it to be a huge success if unleashed at just the right time and promoted well thereafter. Also, if the film turns out to be a success when it eventually releases on 12th January, the song is certainly going to go a long distance. Now all eyes are set to see how well does Mallika sizzle with a director of the caliber of Mani Ratnam behind the camera?
