Shilpa Shetty hosted Bigg Boss reality show is marred with controversies one after the other leading to set backs. After Jade Goody's unexpected exit from the show, now it is caught up with a criminal dimension. The entry of Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi has raised a legal question that law enforcers would like to get clarified. Monica Bedi extradited from Portugal with Mumbai don Abu Salem in 2005 and lodged in the City's central Jail in connection with fake passport case and now she is under bail. She was acquitted by the Chief Judicial Magistrate's (CJM) court here and later by the Sessions Court; the prosecution has appealed against her acquittal in the High Court. Now the police have to probe how she influenced the team of Bigg Boss and got an entry in to the show. It is suspected that underworld pressure ensured a place for Monica in the reality show since there was a similar practice prevailed in the past. In the controversies side Aamir Khan's brother Faisal Khan and Ramdas Athawale, President of RPI and MP, Lok Sabha have complained about their being dropped out. Faisal Khan filed a case against the organizers for not disclosing the reason behind his removal. Athawale went a step further and alleged that he was dropped because of his Dalit background. It is reported that his supporters ransacked the Colors TV premises and broken windowpanes, furnitures and fittings both inside and outside.
Police record Preity Zinta's statement
Mumbai police Tuesday started recording the statement of Bollywood actress Preity Zinta who has accused her former boyfriend and business partner, industrialist Ness Wadia, of allegedly molesting and threatening her. The actress came in the evening to the Wankhede Stadium where the alleged incident involving Wadia took place May 30 and was closeted with the investigators till quite late. Among other things, the police questioning is expected to reconstruct the sequence of events that night during an IPL match played by their jointly-owned King XI Punjab Team. Police are also likely to visit the couple of places in the stadium where the alleged incident took place as part of the investigations, and get the names of more witnesses who were present at that time. The 39-year old actress had submitted a written complaint to the Marine Lines Police station here June 12 making various allegations against Wadia, who denied them as "false and baseless." Later, police recorded the statements of at least half a dozen other people, including some eyewitnesses in the case. Soon after lodging her police complaint, Preity left for a foreign tour and returned to Mumbai two days ago (Sunday). Police officials remained tightlipped on the line of questioning, whether it was completed or would continue tomorrow (Wednesday), their plans to question more witnesses and further of action in the investigation.
Police complaint against Sunny Deol for abuses in 'Mohalla...'
A complaint has been filed with the police in Varanasi against popular film star Sunny Deol and director Chandra Prakash Dwivedi over some abuses in their forthcoming film "Mohalla Assi". Complainant Sarvajan Jagruti Sanstha has alleged that not only does it violate moral ethics, but it also shows Varanasi in poor light. The social organization filed the complaint at Bhelupur police station on Sunday. "The film hurts religious sentiments and we cannot allow such a film to be released," a complainant told. The film is based on a novel - "Kashi Ka Assi" - written by acclaimed Hindi writer Kashinath Singh. The film also stars Ravi Kishen and Sakshi Tanwar. Sunny Deol plays the lead role of a Sanskrit teacher and an orthodox religious priest (Pundit) while Sakshi Tanwar plays his wife.
Policegiri' team gets fans to pen messages for Sanjay
At the music launch of Sanjay Dutt-starrer "Policegiri", producer Rahul Aggarwal unveiled a vinyl board on which fans can post their messages for the actor, who is currently in jail. The message board will travel to different cities during the film's promotion. "We will unveil a vinyl (board) on which everyone here will write a message, and we will carry it (the board) to all the cities we are travelling to. There also, people will write a message to Sanjay Dutt, and we will make sure (the board) gets to him," Aggarwal said here Friday. Sanjay is serving his 42-month prison sentence at the Yerawada Central Jail in Pune, in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blast case. He plays the lead role of a policeman in "Policegiri", the Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster "Saamy". The film's lead actress, Prachi Desai, said it is the responsibility of the film's team to give their best in promoting the project in Sanjay's absence. "It is a huge responsibility because all the people who love him expect him to be around. I am sure if he was here, people would have been looking forward to seeing him a lot more," the 24-year-old said here. Nevertheless, the team's spirits are high. "Since he (Sanjay) is not here, we all are doing our best and keeping our spirits high. That is something we learned from him. He was holding his strength so hard and he shot with us till the last day (before he went to prison). We are doing everything we can for him," she said. Directed by debutant K.S. Ravikumar, "Policegiri", releasing July 5, also stars Prakash Raj.
Mumbai Police seize more than 7889 Pirated Discs
Mumbai Police on behalf of the film industry conducted a raid in Mumbai and seized over 7889 pirated DVDs and CDs worth around Rs. 8, 00,000 The raid was conducted near the Sakinaka, Borivali and Vidhyavihar station. Around 7889 DVDs were seized at these locations. The pirated CDs and DVDs included last week's release Ajay Devgan starrer 'Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge', 'Teen Patti' 'My Name is Khan' and 'Toh Baat Pakki' among others. AA Khan, former IPS officer & Ex. ATS Chief and head of AA Khan & Associates says, "Piracy is a serious offence and one which is rampant within major parts of the city. We along with Mumbai Police are dedicated to the cause of arresting the increase of such activities. However, the job of the police is nullified since the common man goes and purchases movies from such pirates. People need to remember that besides denying the creators of the content their fair share, the proceeds from such sales fund several illegal activities including terrorism in India and abroad." Four people Sultan Alam (24), Mohd Munaji Ansari (19) Ram gupta (29) Sayyed kammal khan (34), Anwar Mirbaksh Syed (38) have been arrested during the raid. The accused were booked under sections 51, 52(A), 63, 68(A) of the Copyright Act of 1957. In the last three months there have been as many as 30 raids conducted in Mumbai resulting in seizing goods worth lakhs of rupees and helping the movie industry in curbing the menace of piracy to an extent.
Police Samrajyam in November 2nd week
The Malayalam hit film 'Tiger' directed by Shaji Kailash with Suresh Gopi and Gopika in the lead is being dubbed into Telugu as 'Police Samrajyam' by Surya Shekhar on the banner of Sri Chilukuri Balaji Productions. Surya Shekhar says, 'I saw the movie in Kerala and liked it very much. There was tremendous response from the audiences to the film. The powerful dialogues penned by Bharatibabu for the Telugu version would be another highlight. Presently DTS mixing is nearing completion and we are planning to release the film in November second week'.
