The long wait for success for Priyamani ended with Paruthi Veeran. Though she had acted in several Tamil films before, it was Paruthi Veeran which propelled her career in Tamil. Her role was widely acclaimed and she had more offers coming her way. Meanwhile, the actress has also established herself successfully in Tollywood. She is part of a couple of big projects which includes a movie opposite Junior NTR. In Yamadonga, Priyamani plays Junior NTR's heroine. Malluwood girl Mamta Mohandas is also in the cast. She is acting in Toss opposite Raja. The movie features Kamna Jethmalani too. Says Priyamani, 'I am delighted to have won a place in both Tamil and Telugu film industry. I would concentrate on doing movies in both Tamil and Telugu.' Though she is getting enough offers now to play a part of commercial cinema, Priyamani hopes to do at least one off-beat film a year.
Priyamani is Vishals heroine in Malaikottai
The success of Paruthi Veeran has done wonders for Priyamani's career. After playing heroine to newcomers and up and coming heroes, Priyamani has struck it big in Tamil cinema now post Paruthi Veeran success. Priyamani has been cast opposite Vishal for a movie titled Malaikottai. The movie is directed by G Boopathy Pandian and produced by Lakshmi Productions. Priyamani is currently busy acting in a couple of movies in Telugu including Yamadonga opposite NTR Jr. Priyamani's portrayal in Paruthi Veeran won her rave reviews. She is one of the young talents who have proved her acting skills. Initially Trisha was slated to play the female lead in Malaikottai. However busy with her commitments in Telugu films, Trisha has opted out of the project. Priyamani is also doing well in Telugu with a big movie under her belt with NTR, and another with Raja, an up and coming hero there.
Priyamani adjudged the best
Priyamani has been chosen the best actress in the 9th Osian's-Cinefan film festival at New Delhi. She has been chosen for her strong performance in Ameer's Paruthi Veeran. Paruthi Veeran directed by Ameer, starring debutant Karthi and Priyamani in the lead roles, explores the relationship between two strong characters - a small-time criminal and a girl from the respected Thevar community. The movie was screened at the fifth day of the festival attracting enough audience. It received raving reviews and everyone appreciated Ameer and the star cast for their good performance. The movie with a tragic end had musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Karthi and Priyamani shot to fame with the movie. The film is running successfully for over 150 days.
Priyamani ecstatic
Priyamani is thrilled at being chosen as the best actress for her strong portrayal in Paruthi Veeran at the Asian Film Festival recently held in Delhi. Giving credit to Ameer, Priyamani says, "I should thank Ameer sir and the whole team which motivated me to come out with my best." Though the actress had been part of several films before, it was Paruthi Veeran which gave her recognition. She played a village girl, who dies in the end. Priyamani says, "It was a tough and challenging role. I was confident that I would come out well. It is very rare to come across such a sensitive theme in Tamil cinema these days. Hats off to Ameer".
Priyamani oozes glamour
Hitherto known for donning performance-oriented roles, Priyamani has opted for glamour in Vishal starrer Malaikottai. Playing Vishal's ladylove in the movie, Priyamani has oozed right glamour to win over her fans. Priyamani had made her debut in Bharathiraja's Kangalal Kaidhu Sei and followed it up with films like Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam. Recently she had her Paruthi Veeran released. As Muthazhagi, Priyamani's casual performance as rural belle won her accolades. She was much acclaimed at the Osian Film Festival, where Paruthi Veeran was screened recently.
Priyamani in the thick of it
Priyamani is busy shooting a song sequence with Tharun in Kirgysthan. She is shooting for a Telugu movie titled 'Nava Vasantham'. Interestingly the movie is a remake of Tamil hit 'Punnagai Desam'. Priyamani dons the role enacted by Sneha in the original. Jai Akash, Ankitha and Kotta Sreenivasa Rao are also in the cast. She will return to Chennai soon to complete the shooting for her long-pending movie 'Thotta'. After a big hit in 'Paruthiveeran' and the recent-released 'Malaikottai', Priyamani has not accepted any offer in Tamil cinema so far.
