Post tiff with Bazmee, Salman steering 'Ready' to theatres

Mumbai, May 29 (IANS) It seems Salman Khan wants "Ready" to rock to his own rhythm and has taken charge of the destiny of the film's release. Director Anees Bazmee has been sportingly justifying all his impositions as friendly collaboration, but apparently a difference of opinion recently came up between the two. "It was for a chase sequence. Salman wanted it edited in a particular way. But Anees thought it was fine the way it was. The two of them had a heated argument over the issue," said a source. Bazmee said: "It was a pre-climactic chase sequence. Salman's character pursues the goons in an auto-rickshaw. I wanted it shorter, no more than three minutes of playing-time. Salman wanted it to go on a little longer because he thought the kids would enjoy it. So we extended it to four minutes. That's it." "There has been no major argument as such. I've shown the edited portions to Salman as I've done to all my heroes in other films. What's wrong with that? Yes, I did change the chase sequence on his suggestion because it made sense to do so," he added. "Ready" is coming out on June 3 and Salman will be seen with host of other actors - Asin Thottumkal, Arya Babbar, Mahesh Manjrekar and Paresh Rawa - in the film about a rich heir who wants to enjoy life before tying the knot.

Post injury, Ranveer Singh back in business

Actor Ranveer Singh, who suffered an injury due to a fall from a horse while shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial “Bajirao Mastani” earlier this year, is now back at work. In May, Ranveer's injury had forced the actor to rest for nearly two months, read a statement. Determined to make a full recovery, Ranveer focussed on healing and physiotherapy extensively. Earlier, the movement of his shoulder after surgery was restricted, and physiotherapists worked on increasing the range of his shoulder’s movements. Happy with the treatment, he said: “I’ve been treated like an athlete would be treated. It’s three hours of physiotherapy each day, one hour in the morning followed by an hour in the middle of shoot and an hour post wrap. “The physiotherapy program assigned to me is the same as one assigns to a professional athlete and the recovery has been five times faster than that of a normal person.” The injury had compelled the 30-year-old to stop all physically intensive shooting; however, Bhansali continued to shoot other portions during this time.

Post 'Shaandaar', it's 'Rangoon' time for Shahid

Shahid Kapoor is clearly not bogged down by the debacle of “Shaandaar” at the box office as he says there are “miles to go before I sleep”. Moving on, the actor is now focusing on his next project “Rangoon”. “Time to prep for #Rangoon. Miles to go before I sleep. Keep it real you all. And believe. Because...,” Shahid tweeted on Thursday. The actor also shared a photograph in which he is seen with a beard. He seems to be brooding while looking outside his car's window. To be helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, “Rangoon” is a love story based in the 1940s, against the backdrop of World War II. It also stars Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut, and is scheduled to take off in early 2016. Meanwhile, the much anticipated film “Shaandaar”, which marked Shahid's first film after his marriage, bombed at the box office and also failed to impress critics as they described the movie as slow paced or avant-garde gone awry. Treated like a fantasy film with a backdrop of an ostentatious Indian wedding, Vikas Bahl's "Shaandaar" also features Alia Bhatt, Sanah Kapoor, Sushma Seth and Pankaj Kapur among others. It was released on October 22.
