More news →President, PM condole Akkineni's death
President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday condoled the death of Telugu cinema icon Akkineni Nageswara Rao. "An acclaimed Telugu film actor, producer and writer, Nageswara Rao shall always be remembered for his memorable films. His singular contribution to Indian cinema was recognised through a number of awards. In his death, the film industry has lost a creative personality whose contribution to Telugu cinema remains unparalleled," the president said in a message to the film maker's son, Nagarjuna. Nageswara Rao died early Wednesday. He was 89. The prime minister said: "I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing away of Akkineni Nageswara Rao. He was a man of multiple talents and will be long remembered for his contribution to Indian cinema in general and Telugu cinema in particular." "I convey my sincere condolences to the members of his family, his friends and well-wishers and to his countless admirers around the world," he added.
Nagendra Babu is MAA president
K Nagendra Babu, popular producer and brother of Mega Star Chiranjeevi, has been unanimously elected as president of Movie Artistes Association (MAA) for 2006-08. Earlier, he was the vice-president of MAA. Nagendra Babu is the one who had lots of concern over the fellow human-beings in general and the film industry workers in particular. He has a kind heart to understand the problems faced by the people and always tries to extend a helping hand to the needy. One can't find any ego or inhibition in Nagababu, though he was a big producer, actor and brother of Mega Star Chiranjeevi. The films produced by him like 'Rudraveena' and 'Stalin' proves the real concern in him towards the society. He is a great leader at the same time very simple and quite personality. He was never after the power but the post came in search of him. Bharadwaja elected president of Producers'
Council The Telugu Film Producers Council had elected a new body recently. The present body would be in office for three years from 2007 to 2009. The council had elected the new body unanimously. In fact the elections were to be held in the beginning of August. While popular producer and director Tammareddy Bharadwaja was elected as the new president, Vadde Ramesh and Shyam Prasad Reddy as vice-presidents, TVD Prasad and CV Reddy as general secretaries, GVH Prasad, Vajja Srinivasa Rao as joint secretaries, and C Kalyan as treasurer. Aswinidutt, KS Rama Rao, Allu Aravind, PV Ravikishore, D Sureshbabu, Dr KL Narayana, Kaikala Nageswara Rao, K Ashok Kumar, ML Kumar Choudary, Kodali Venkateswara Rao, Natti Kumar, N Mallikarjuna Rao, T Rama Satyanarayana, Kamini Venkateswara Rao were elected as the executive body members. KS Rama Rao new President of APFCC
Producer KS Rama Rao (Creative Commercials) is elected as the new President for the Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce. The elections for the new body of organization were held on Sunday 27.7.08 B.Ramachandra Reddy is elected as Vice-President, C.Kalyan as Chairman of Producer's wing, and Chakrapani as Chairman of Exhibitors Sector. MC Bose is the new Chairman for the Distribution division and P.Kiran kumar is the Chairman for Studio wing. Due to a little disturbance amongst the members, the elections for remaining posts of the office is postponed to August 10th.
MAA's new president Murali Mohan
MAA (Movie Artists Association) conducts its elections every two years, to elect the members for their office. This year the election was conducted on 14th September, at Film Chamber Office in Hyderabad. Murali Mohan and VijayChandar competed for the post of president in this election. Suresh Babu new president of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce
Popular producer D. Suresh Babu has been elected as the new president of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, said a source. "Suresh Babu is the new president of the Chamber. He will be officially sworn in at a ceremony soon," a source told. Suresh Babu and Narayana Das of Asian Films were vying for the president's post. Suresh, son of legendary producer D. Ramanaidu and father of Rana Daggubati, was unanimously chosen by all the 16 exhibitors, who now form the executive committee. Suresh produces films under the over five-decade old banner of Suresh Productions. They've produced over 200 films across several Indian languages.
