The trailer of Mohanlal's much awaited Pulimurugan was released recently , which was highly action-packed. While the majority of the audience were stunned by Mohanlal's flexibility, a section of people started to spread rumors saying that the stunts were performed by a stunt double. But sooner, the film's stunt man Eric reacted to these rumours and said that it was Mohanlal himself who performed those stunts. Eric, a professional stuntman mostly confined to American and European movies, respects Mohanlal for his absolute commitment. He said that Mohanlal has an amazing body flexibility even at this age. He also complimented the complete actor by saying, "when many youngsters found it difficult to do some moves in the shooting spot, Mohanlal pulled those off easily". A befitting reply from this stunt man has put an end to all these baseless rumors.
Pulimurugan Box Office: Breaks Charlie's Record!
Pulimurugan, the Mohanlal starrer is all set to become the biggest box office hit of 2016. Now, Pulimurugan has made yet another achievement, when it is about to complete the first week of release. Interestingly, the movie broke the collection record of Dulquer Salmaan starrer Charlie, by becoming the fastest Malayalam film to cross 50 Lakhs gross collection from the Ernakulam multiplexes. Charlie had made a collection of 54 Lakhs from the Ernakulam multiplexes, within the first 4 days of its release. But, Pulimurugan managed to make 57 Lakhs, when it completed 4 days at the centres. The Mohanlal movie made more than 15 Lakhs on its releasing day, from the Ernakulam multiplexes. Later, it collected an average of 14 Lakhs on the second, third, and fourth days of its release. Pulimurugan had a grand opening at the box office by collecting 4.5 Crores on its release day. Thus, the movie broke the record of Kasaba to become the Malayalam film with the highest initial collection. Later, Pulimurugan went on to surpass the records set by Mohanlal's Oppam, by becoming the fastest Malayalam movie to cross the 10-Crore and 20-Crore mark at the Kerala box office.
Pulimurugan To Have A Tamil Remake Soon?
Pulimurugan, the Mohanlal starring action thriller has already emerged as one of the biggest hits of 2016. The movie has broken several pre-existing box office records of Mollywood, within a short while. According to the sources, Pulimurugan is all set to have a Tamil remake soon. If the reports are to be true, the Tamil remake right of the movie has been bagged by producer Ramesh Pillai, for Abhishek Films. Even though the actual price has not been revealed yet, the sources close to the project suggest that Pulmurugan remake right has been sold for a record price. More details are expected to be revealed soon. As per the reports, a top notch Tamil star has been approached to reprise Mohanlal's role in the remake. Reportedly, the makers are yet to finalise the director and major star cast of the movie. Meanwhile, the Telugu dubbed version, which has been titled as Manyam Puli will hit the theatres in November. The team is also planning to release the movie in English, Chinese, and Vietnamese, languages. Pulimurugan is written by Udaykrishna of Sibi K Thomas-Udaykrishna duo and directed by Vysakh. The movie is produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam, under the banner Mulakupadam Films.

Pulimurugan, which released on October 7, 2016, has completed its 50 days of run. The film has had a phenomenal outing so far, with the movie setting some new records at the box office. Now, the movie has achieved a rare feat, something which no other Malayalam movie has had in the past. Reportedly, the film has completed 50 days of run in over 100 screens in Kerala, making it the first Malayalam movie to do so. Pulimurugan, did have a wide release sd the movie was released in over 250 screens. Despite having such a big release, the movie still holds on to these many centres, which is quite rare nowadays. Earlier, Mohanlal starrer Drishyam did complete 50 days of run in about 75 screens in Kerala. Now, Pulimurugan has eclipsed that record, as well. Even the new movies like Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan, Dear Zindagi etc., have not affected the rock solid run of Pulimurugan. Going at this rate, the movie is expected to complete 100 days of run in good number of theatres. The film is expected to have a smooth run till the Christmas season. We have to wait and see whether the movie can manage to hold on the screens, even after the Christmas season.

Responses have been good for advance booking. Pulimurugan was earlier expected to be released in close to 200 theatres but had to reduce the number of theatres since Mohanlal starrer Oppam is still continuing to do good business at the theatres. Oppam, which released during the Onam season, is still strong at the box office. The film has crossed the 30-Crore mark and is on the way to becoming one of the biggest hits in the history of Malayalam cinema.
