Ra.One’ release date not yet fixed: SRK

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has clarified that the release date of his superhero film “Ra.One” has not yet been decided, unlike what has been reported. According to certain media reports Tuesday, the actor-producer is planning to release the film June 3, next year. But Shah Rukh has denied it. “Nice to know that the release date for ‘Ra.One’ has been fixed by someone… somewhere. Maybe they can now come and finish it as well,” Shah Rukh posted on his Twitter page. “Will work backwards in terms of post-production and announce the release date in tandem with office guys. Should be around June,” he added. In another message that seemed like an indirect dig at the recent alleged involvement of Pakistani cricketers in match-fixing, Shah Rukh wrote: “It seems everything is being fixed everywhere. For a change let’s unfix a few things, get unhooked, unhinged… free from set plans and float a bit.”

Superhero film ‘Ra.One’ for my kids: Shah Rukh

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is excited about his first superhero film “Ra.One”, which will also see him flying. And he says he is doing it for his children and hopes to succeed at the box office. “The film ‘Ra.One’ is a superhero film. There is a good guy, there is a bad guy, there is a beautiful girl, there is a wonderful singer and a fantastic director,” Shah Rukh told reporters at a press conference organised to welcome the international R&B singer Akon at Sahara Star hotel Tuesday. “It’s a kind of film, a genre we guys haven’t tried at ‘Red Chilies’. On behalf of the whole team, I would like to try and I hope we succeed. It’s a new thing for all of us, so we are giving it our best shot. Hopefully, we will be able to do what we are set out to do. I am doing it for my kids,” he added. The film is being directed by Anubhav Sinha and Kareena Kapoor plays Shah Rukh’s love interest in it. He said: “My superhero character is called Jeeva and he can solidify electricity. It’s a concept we are trying to work on. Hopefully, visually it will be understandable too. It is a superhero film and I am going to fly in it.” Shah Rukh confirmed Akon will record a number for the film, but clarified that the R&B singer won’t sing for the promotional song for his IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). “No, he is actually here to do a song for ‘Ra.One’. We would love him to do a lot of songs. We haven’t developed the song for KKR, but if I do, I would obviously request him to do that. “No, there is not any business deal with Akon. He has just been very gracious. You know, he is unlike me – I charge for everything. I will be really honest. When you see an artist or a singer, you truly realise that they want to do it for the sake of art. And what I love about him is that he only loves to work,” said Shah Rukh. Kareena was also present and welcomed Akon by putting ’tilak’ on his forehead and a garland around his neck.

SRK's 'Ra.One' beats Salman, Aamir in multiplex space

As we said earlier King Khan Shah Rukh Khan is keen to regain his crown and is slowly conquering the territories. The latest news is Shah Rukh Khan's 'Ra.One' has attracted 95% space in multiplexes all over. Aamir Khan starrer '3 Idiots' got 65% space, Salman's 'Bodyguard' got 80% space and now Shah Rukh has beaten them handsomely with a 95% space for his most ambitious Ra.One. The multiplex chain had a meeting and decided to have maximum shows for 'Ra.One' which hits this Diwali on 26th of this month. This means the other two releases Himesh Reshammiyah's 'Dumma Dum' and Hema Malini's 'Tell Me O Kkhudda' will have to share from the leftover 5%. Himesh's 'Dama Damm' is however not an all India release so it won't be affected to that extend but Esha Deol's comeback vehicle 'Tell Me O Kkhudda' will struggle to find more shows in the midst of 'Ra.One' mania. Ironically, it was Hema Malini who gave SRK his first break in big screen with 'Dil Aashna Hai' in 1992 and today her daughter Esha Deol's comeback vehicle is pitted against the same SRK who is now referred as the Baadshah of Bollywood. Trade pundits support the decision by multiplex and say its business decision as the movie has created tremendous buzz and it's a family crowd puller. Whereas 'Tell Me O Khudda' and 'Damadamm' come with have their share of limitations.

Are you ready to watch 'Ra.One' with Dolby 7.1 system?

Shah Rukh Khan's "Ra.One" promises to change the movie-going experience for cinegoers here. For the first time, the Dolby surround 7.1 system is reportedly being installed in several multiplex theatres in the run-up to the sci-fi's release. And this is not just a vain wish to be one-up on all the other technically-sophisticated films. SRK is going all-out to ensure "Ra.One" sets a new benchmark for technical finesse in Hindi cinema. In June, the film's technical team headed by Shah Rukh will be in Los Angeles to get special sound effects done for the film. These effects, never used in any Indian film, can only be experienced fully only when the new Dolby equipment is operational. Oscar winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty, who will also go to Los Angels, said: "You see, 'Ra.One' is not just a movie experience. It will be the first Indian film to hover somewhere between being a game and a movie. It requires a very unconventional sound and visual quality for which we're getting the Dolby 7.1 system installed." The idea to get sound effects done in Los Angeles and to install Dolby 7.1 in Mumbai's theatres comes from SRK alone who has taken complete charge of the project's post-production editing marketing and release. "The Dolby 7.1 format goes a long way in creating a larger-than-life experience on 'Ra.One'. We're looking at changing the Indian audiences' movie-viewing experience this Diwali," said Resul. He admits multiplexes in Mumbai are going for a makeover for the release of "Ra.One". "And for this I want to give a large part of the credit to Ramesh Sippy, who has been hands-on in supporting us in the campaign to update and modernize and sound and projection in the theatres," he said. Explaining the Dolby 7.1 system Resul said: "Dolby 7.1 is a new sound format which gives you two additional surround channels that ensure much wider sound compared to the present Dolby 5.1. "All the digital cinemas playing sound through their native systems and formats will now have to go through a Dolby processor which follows and standardizes the cinemas according to the ground rules of the SMPTE (the Society Of Motion Picture & Television Engineers) and ISO (International Organization For Standardization) which ensure a better movie experience for the audience." Shah Rukh is apparently sold on the idea of taking Indian cinema to an international level with "Ra.One".

RA. One’ music album leaked online

Superstar Shahrukh Khan is upset to know that the entire music album of his upcoming movie “RA.One” has been leaked online. He has urged the people to respect the hard work of the film’s makers and not download the music illegally. “How sad it is that someone somewhere has no regard for our labour of love. 5 yrs of work and they put it on net so callously. Extremely sad…,” Shah Rukh posted on micro-blogging site Twitter. The audio release of “RA.One” is slated for Sep 12 and just two days before the release, the entire thing has been leaked online. Vishal Dadlani of music director duo Vishal-Shkehar, who has also given music to the movie, tweeted: “Show your support for ‘RA.One’ and SRK. Don’t download illegally.” To which the director Anubhav Sinha added, “Appeal. Everyone who has an illegal ‘RA.One’ track, DELETE IT.” “RA.One”, a superhero film, is coming out Oct 26.

RA. ONE’ earns Rs. 18 crore on first day

Shahrukh Khan’s most ambitious sci-fi thriller hit the screens on Diwali and while some critics gave it a thumbs up for blending elegance of Hollywood with Indian sensibilities, others panned the superhero drama by labelling it just as a video game. The reviews notwithstanding, it has managed to collect Rs.18 crore at the home box office on the opening day. However, as predicted by trade pundits, the film couldn’t break the first day collection records of Salman Khan starrer “Bodyguard”, which earned Rs.22 crore in the domestic market on the opening day. In the onverseas market, the Red Chillies Entertainment and Eros International co-production raked in Rs.6.5 crore. If reviewers have a different take on the film, viewers are also reacting differently but theatre owners predict good business in the coming week. “Although the film has got mixed reviews, the first day has been really good. We witnessed more than 80 percent occupancy,” a source in PVR told IANS. “Moreover, the extensive marketing of the film has created a curiosity among people, who are eager to see what is the film all about,” the source added. Cinemax witnessed an average footfall on the first day. “There could be two reasons – the 3D version of the film was made available a little late. Although in metros it was fine, but in other cities due to delayed release in 3D we had to cancel some of the shows,” said Sunil Punjab, CEO of Cinemax. “Also, we saw a decline in the occupancy in the evening as it was Diwali time and people were busy in Diwali puja. But today (Thursday) the response has been encouraging since morning we have had good number of people coming to see the film,” he added. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the Rs.150 crore film, which also stars Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in prominent roles, was released in as many as 3,500 screens across the world. Even before the film reached the theatres, its makers earned money by selling its satellite rights reportedly for for Rs.35 crore and the distribution rights for Rs.77 crore. The film’s highlight is high-tech VFX shots, which were outsourced from multiple specialty studios in London, Paris and Bangkok, as also the US. Puneet Sahay of Spice Cinemas, however, informed that the film is not appealing to adults. “Although Shah Rukh’s acting is good, ‘RA.One’ is basically a film for children as it boast of lot of animation and special effects. Adults are not actually liking the film. However, it is likely to do well in the coming days,” Sahay said. “Actually, it’s nothing more than a video game,” said college student Akhil Sharma.
