More news →‘Raavanan’ cinematography nominated for Asia Pacific Screen Awards
Raavanan cameramen Santosh Sivan and V. Manikandan together nominated for Best Cinematography Award at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, which will be held in Australia on December 2nd. India had received three nominations, including three Marathi films for the fourth annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards. Though the film is disaster at the box office, Cinematography of Santosh Sivan and V. Manikandan was admired even by all the critics. Marathi film Vihir, which is produced by Amitabh Bachchan was also competing in the same category with Raavanan Queensland government, Australia initiated Asia Pacific Screen Awards in collaboration with UNESCO and International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations.
‘Raavana’ finally gets its release date!
The ace director Manirathnam’s much anticipated flick ‘Raavana’ finally gets its release date after facing so many barriers in between. It is officially declared that the movie is going to hit the screens on June 18 across the world and an international premiere has been arranged to be held at IIFA. The schedule for the Hindi version has been completed a month before and some shots are being redo in Tamil version as director was not convinced with the earlier. And to the more interest, this movie is going to be very special for Vikram as his two opposite roles hero and villain in Tamil and Hindi will be a winning line in his career.
Ravanan release date is out
Mani Ratnam’s forthcoming magnum opus ‘Ravanan’ release date was finally confirmed and out clearing all the rumors. It will hit the big screens on June 18. Sources say that the post production works are going on in Chennai at rapid pace as Mani has planned Cannes premiere in this May, so that there will be ample time to promote the movie. It is a multilingual film that will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. There is also a buzz that Vikram is going to dub for himself in Telugu version but details about Hindi version are yet to be announced. Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya and Vikram will play the key roles in all the languages but other cast may change in the different versions. Let’s wait to watch modern Ramayana in Mani’s style.
Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavana’ for summer
Mani Ratnam’s bilingual movie ‘Raavana’ is almost ready and the film has moved into final editing stage. More than 70% of the dubbing is also over. Some final shots for patch work involving Vikram are happening in the jungles near Pollachi. With the film just about to be completed Mani Ratnam is planning for a simultaneous release in May for both the Hindi and Tamil versions. But what is still not decided is the title for the Tamil version. It appears that he is in two minds whether to call the Tamil version also ‘Raavan’, In fact when the film was first announced ‘Ashokavanam’ was said to be the Tamil title. ‘Ashokavanam’ sounds good even today. ‘Raavan’ has a sterling star cast with Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai- Vikram for Hindi and Vikram-Aishwarya Rai-Prithviraj for Tamil.
Ranjitha retained in Ravanan
Ever since the actress Ranjitha and Nithyananda scandal made it to the public, rumors are milling that Mani Ratnam may remove the scenes of Ranjitha in which she is playing the role of Vikram’s sister-in-law in forthcoming film ‘Ravanan’. But the latest buzz is that the dubbing work is going on and the scenes involving Ranjitha were not deleted by Mani Ratnam in the movie. It is a multilingual movie that features Vikram, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan in Tamil version, while Aishwarya and Abishek playing the lead roles in Hindi version.
