Happy Birthday to 'Prince'
Maheshbabu was born on August 9, 1974, to Super Star Krishna and Indiradevi. At that time, nobody might be knowing that Maheshbabu would be called as 'Prince' by his fans and would reach the level of breaking the 75-year-old Box Office records of Telugu cinema. Maheshbabu was quite bubbly and sweety as a child and he entered the films right in his childhood and played several roles as child artiste in some of the films where his father played the hero. Especially, he performed excellently in films like 'Mugguru Kodukulu and Koduku Diddina Kapuram'. Like a flower spreads its fragrance right from the moment it starts blossoming, Maheshbabu could prove himself as a matured artiste right in his childhood as a child artiste. He made his debut as hero through 'Rajakumarudu' under the direction of K Raghavendra Rao and Preeti Zinta was his first heroine. He showed good maturity as hero in his first film itself. He got the necessary glamour from his father as an heir and maintained his own style of action and attained a handsome personality. Especially, his ever-smiling face enhanced his glamour further and made him to attract everyone. After 'Rajakumarudu', his films 'Yuvaraju and Vamsy' were released and received good applause. However, the first biggest hit in Maheshbabu's career was 'Murari' released in 2001 in which he paired up with Bollywood heroine Sonali Bendre. However, his films 'Takkari Donga' and 'Bobby' released in 2002 were not very satisfactory. Next came 'Okkadu' directed by Gunasekhar and produced by MS Raju on the banner of Sumanth Arts in 2003 and proved to be a blockbuster. This film earned the star image for Maheshbabu as his stamina and calibre were proved in this movie. His film 'Nijam', which was released in the same year, though failed to prove a commercial hit, earned him the Nandi Award from the State government as a Best Actor. In 2004, Maheshbabu's films 'Naani' and 'Arjun' were released and once again Maheshbabu bagged Nandi Award as a Best Actor for 'Arjun' directed by Gunashekhar and produced by Maheshbabu's brother Rameshbabu. In 2005, Maheshbabu played hero in Trivikram Srinivas direction with Trisha in the female lead, for 'Athadu' and this film was also proved to be a Super Hit film. Once again Maheshbabu bagged Nandi award for his best performance in this film. At the same time, he also received the Best Hero award from 'Filmfare' for his excellent performance in 'Athadu'. The most memorable film in Maheshbabu's career 'Pokiri' was released in 2006. Directed and produced by Puri Jagannath, the film broke the records of the 75-year-old Telugu film industry history and rewrote the Box Office records. As far as collections and the performance of Maheshbabu, the film remained a milestone. It is worth mentioning here that All India Superstar Big B Amitabh Bachchan and one of the greatest directors Ram Gopal Varma openly complimented Maheshbabu's performance before the media. Then came 'Sainikudu' which was again a big dud. Presently, Prince is playing hero under Surender Reddy's direction for 'Athidi' being produced by his brother Rameshbabu. After this film, Maheshbabu had two more projects on hand. One is 'Mirchi' to be directed by Hembar and produced by Dr KL Narayana on the banner of Durga Arts and another is 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' to be produced by MS Raju on the banner of Sumanth Arts. 'Pokiri' completes 175 days in 63 centres
Maheshbabu entered the film industry as 'Rajakumarudu' as the heir of Super Star Krishna. He proved himself as an artiste of eminence with 'Murari'. Later, he showed his stamina with 'Okkadu' and further strengthened his position with the success of 'Athadu'. With his latest flick 'Pokiri' he proved one among the top heroes and established himself as 'Prince', a title that was given by his fans. When it comes to heroine Ileana, she made the Telugu audiences as 'Devadasus' with her glamour and won their hearts with her beauty in 'Pokiri'. As of the director, Puri Jagannath made his debut with Badri, and later made his films 'Idiot, Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi, Sivamani' big hits. His latest film 'Pokiri' had rewritten the history of 75-year-old Telugu cinema, produced by Manjula. The film 'Pokiri' had created yet another record in the Indian film industry by completing 175 days in 63 centres across the State. Though the director Puri Jagannath claimed that the different presentation of the hero, and Mani Sharma's music, had helped for the success of the film, it is he who portrayed the hero's character in an impeccable style. One thing is proved that the Telugu industry started coming out of slump as a majority of Telugu films were proved hits this year. The entire unit gave a new lease of life to the Telugu film industry with their film 'Pokiri'. Another notable point is that the Telugu film industry had erased the image that dubbed films would only remain hits as there was some creativity in them and it was proved that our directors are the best and second to none. 'Pokiri' had received compliments both from the Tamil super star Rajinikanth and the Telugu Mega Star Chiranjeevi. Moreover, 'Pokiri' is being remade in Tamil as well as Hindi after it proved a tremendous hit.
