Ramba celebrates her birthday today

The girl who created waves among the adolescents of South India is celebrating her birthday today. Introduced in the film 'Ullathai Allithaa' by director Sundar C. to the Tamil film world, she became a star overnight playing a youthful girl in love. It was a slapstick comedy that also featured Karthik, Goundamani and Manivannan. She maintained the dream girl status for well over a decade often playing a love sick and demure girl. Ramba hails from Vijayawada and was first introduced in a Telugu film named Aa Okkati Adakku in 1993. She stormed into the Tamil, Malayalm and Hindi film industries as well and was quick to be identified as the girl-next-door. She has an impressive list of co-stars in the form of Chiranjeevi, Rajnikanth, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Sunil Shetty and Govinda. She also worked with Kamal Haasan in a comedy flick. Ramba turned producer briefly with the film Three Roses in Tamil starring Jyothika, Laila and herself. The film was inspired by the hollywood flick Charlies Angels. Her performance in the 2007 film in Malayalam titled Paayum Puli was greatly appreciated and won her rave reviews. Rama Retires and settles with spiritualism

The erstwhile small screen 'Rama' Arun Govil has announced that he has given up finally acting and turned to spiritualism. Arun performed the lead of God Rama in Ramanand Sagar's small screen epic of eighties 'Ramayan' and entered into politics and represented BJP in the lands supreme law making body when the party sweeping north India. Partnering with his younger brother of the devotional mega hit, Sunil Lahiri he has established a Television production company. He also disclosed that their first venture Happy Home which deals with senior citizens earning not only revenue but also tops in the TRP ratings after aired in nations biggest TV network Doordarshan. Now it seems that spiritualism has taken the actor and he devotes his time under the guidance of his guru Brahmarishi Srikumar Swami. The actor is against re-making of the epic classics is a waste of energy and money since it won't have any soul. Though many silver screen personalities shining in politics viz, Jayapradha, Jayabachan, Jayalalitha, Dharmendra and cricket stars like Sidhu , it is conspicuous that why small screen actors including Shruti Irani did not shine that much?

Ramya Nambeesan joins the wagon

Malayalam filmi heroines had been through great times for the past few years, making big names all through the South Indian industry. All the lead heroines of Kerala are getting big films in Tamil and other South languages, which has started a trend for every upcoming heroine to make a try in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. The latest to join the group is Ramya Nambeesan who debuted through the Jayaram starrer Malayalam film 'Aanachandham'. She had agreed to share the lead with Cheran in the new film 'Raman Thediya Seetha'. Directed by Jaganji, the film is produced by Monsaphiyar Productions. Ramya is presently enjoying the success of Malayalam film'Chocolate' which had her in a prominent role.

Rama Narayanan and the animals

Old habits die hard. Director Rama Narayanan, who started his career with revolutionary films, then switched over to make films involving animals. Soon he mastered the art and most of his films featuring animals became hit movies. He also went to the neighbouring states and made many producers happy by giving many hit films in the same genre. Rama Narayanan's passion towards animal related movies is still alive and his current ventures as a distributor prove this point. The director cum producer, who is the president of Producers' Council, is now distributing the dubbed versions of English movies. You wouldn't be surprised if you look at the film he has chosen to distribute now. It is a movie revolving around an animal! D-War, a fantasy movie featuring a bizarre animal with a dragon's face and a snake's body, will hit the halls by the end if this month. The movie with amazing graphics work will enthrall the Tamil audience with Tamil dubbing with the title 'Rudra Nagam'. There is little surprise in Rama Narayanan, who is fond of animal movies, releasing the film in Tamil.

Pic Of The Day: Ramya Krishna as Jayalalithaa!

After the demise of former Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa, There is strong buzz about the biopic of the Iron Lady in the film and political circles. Trisha has already declared that she would love to reprise the role of Amm onscreen. Several other actresses were keen to do the role if the offer comes their way. All of a sudden, A photoshopped picture of Ramya Krishna who looks alike Jayalalithaa went viral on the social media. The poster was created by 'Fully Filmy'. Tagline given to the poster - 'The Story of a Queen!'. In fact, The creative brain behind this poster opined Karthik Subbaraj is the right person to helm the project. Fans of Amma just loved the poster. They feel no one better than Ramya Krishna would suit the role and even their voices were similar. When quizzed by media, Ramya Krishna said she has seen the fan made poster on WhatsApp when a friend sent it to her. She adds, 'Playing Jayalalithaa on the screen is my dream role. Its an honour to reprise the role of a woman who is most admired of our times. I would love to do the film if a sensible director approaches me with a good script'.

Producer-Director Rama Narayanan - Seeking the mandate

With producer-director Rama Narayanan being elected unanimously for the post of the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), elections would be held to for the post of vice presidents, secretaries, treasurer and executive committee members. Rama Narayanan has fielded producer Khaja Mohideen and Anbalaya Prabhakaran for the post of vice presidents, K Srinivasan as secretary and Azhagam Thamizhmani as treasurer. A host producers are fielded for the post of executive committee members. Speaking to press persons, Rama Narayanan assured that if their team is elected they would strive for the welfare of producers. All issues affecting the welfare of producers would be taken care of.
