After Hum Tum became a hit, people really expected this pair to sizzle the screen once again. The wait though long is over. People will soon see the pair in a yet another Yashraj romantic film. The film is yet to be titled. The Salaam Namaste Director Sidharth Raj Anand will direct the film. Incidentally he had co written Hum Tum with Kunal Kohli. The film is not the boy meets girl romance. It is the serious genre of romance. The film talks about mature emotions and it is a mature romantic film. The director is hunting for locations for the film that match the script need. The film will be on the floor this June. It will be shot in a start to finish schedule. It will be shot outside India but surely not in Australia. The script the director feels will be a surprise package.
Rani Faces Stiff Opposition from Culture Czars in Banaras
The culture-vulture-brigade is at it again. A little known outfit Kranti Shiv Sena (KSS) burnt posters of actress Rani Mukherjee for disrupting the lives of devotees in Banaras. Incidentally Rani is currently shooting for Pradeep Sarkar's yet untitled film being produced by Yahsraj Films in Banaras and her security guards had an altercation with a few photo journalists and teeming people on the sets of the film on Monday. The film also stars Konkana Sensharma. Rani apologized to the press later but she also taught the media personnel that even the stars deserve some kind of breathing space. She also got irritated when constant questions were being asked about her marriage plans. It seems these small time culture outfits find an easy bait in successful actors for publicizing their own wares. Aamir Khan faced the wrath of a little known culture wing of a political party when his film 'Fanaa' was about to be released. And now, it's the turn of Rani Mukherjee whose posters are being burnt and effigies paraded on a death bed. Rani had earlier shot for 'Bunty Aur Babli' in Banaras. Rani Mukherjee works with GURU cinematographer
A leading mosquito repellant company which is a favorite brand of millions of Indians announced its tie up with Rani Mukherjee as the brand ambassador for their new product. The commercial featuring the youth icon Rani will go on air from 22nd January, 2007 in all the leading channels across the country. Rajeev Menon, cinematographer of 'Guru' has directed the commercial. While talking about the association Rani said, 'I have been associated with this brand right from my childhood days. It is a matter of great pride and pleasure to be part of the family again and bring this revolutionary new product in the market'. With an evocative theme adding to the mood, the film ad draws the viewer into the world of joy and happiness as experienced by a progressive family. Serving as a beautiful visual metaphor, the film draws a parallel between the product and Rani's family relationships.

The media seems to know even the smallest happening in Bollywood with all those related to this vast industry. Lately, we had heard something smoking regarding the Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukherjee affair. Now rumor is running wild that Aditya might have already gifted and engagement ring to the husky-voiced Bollywood beauty after he has applied officially for a divorce from his first wife. The divorce has been filed at the Bandra Court in Mumbai. The Aditya-Rani affair has not been approved by either Aditya's or Rani's parents. When Rajaa Mukerji launched his television directorial venture 'Kisi Ki Nazarr Na Lage' this week, sister Rani Mukerji made sure she graced the occasion to support him. Rani, who entered the event with hundreds of flash bulbs and dozens of television cameras vying to catch a glimpse of her infectious smile, was not keeping too well that evening. In spite of that she tried to put up her best and wished Rajaa loads of luck. The event also witnessed Rajaa and Rani's family joining in, along with the entire cast of the soap, turning up to show their solidarity. "The soap is a highly emotional family drama, depicting authentic Bengali culture, a facet which has rarely been explored on Indian television," said Rajaa Mukerji. It will be aired at 1pm, Monday to Fridays, starting May 5, on DD1. 'Kisi Ki Nazarr Na Lage' features the late Shubhiraj along with Aroop Pal, Sanjeev Seth, Komolika Guhathakurta, Kashish Duggal, Ashish Kaul, Vikas Anand, Ekta Sharma, Damini Kanwal Shetty, Abir Goswami, Shivani Gosain, Buddhaditya Mohanty, Shabnam, Kaliprasad Mukherjee, Krutika, Kapil, Trupti, Subrat Sarcar and Mamta Dutta in the lead cast. Written by Damini Kanwal Shetty and Raaj Shetty, other credits include lyrics by Gagandeep Brar, title music by Anuraag Ware and Rajaa Mukerji, playback singing by Priya Bhattacharya, editing by Pintu Gupta, concept by Rajaa Mukerji and camerawork by Digvijay R. Singh. While Rajaa Mukerji has directed the soap, it's being produced by Krishna Mukerji and Jyoti Mukerji.
Rani is no longer the star face of Raga
Adding to her woes of fast sliding star value and dearth of quality film projects to look forward to, another misfortune has come seeking Rani Mukerji. Giving strength to the Bollywood fact that when you are on top everyone tires to be with you and in the time of trouble, it's a desert on which you are standing alone, the watch company Titan has detached advertising ties with the B-Town Babe. It can be naturally predicted that because Rani is not considered as a hot and happening heroine anymore, the company which gained mileage with the actress for its Titan Raga brand of watches has now decided to do away with her. The explanation given by the company is that as the re-launch time is over for Titan Raga, the services of Rani are not needed. There was a time after the stupendous success of 'Black' when Rani was everyone's darling and now the situation has turned out to be just the opposite. But Rani has in abundance the one strong and reliable advantage called natural talent to fight back and with just a super hit she may regain her lost ground soon.
