Superb first week for SHOOT OUT AT LOKHANDWALA and good box office returns for CHEENI KUM have claimed at least two causalities in the form of EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL and RAQEEB. While RAQEEB failed in the first week itself with hardly any notable collections and a non-starter from day one, EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL had shown hopes after sustained collections over the first week after a decent weekend. Sadly RAQEEB, in spite of being a well made film, had nowhere to go in the second week and crashed completely. EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL too didn't fare any better and was discontinued from most of the theaters with SOAL and CHEENI KUM occupying most of the screens. As things stand today, neither RAQEEB nor EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL are in the running in the third week with three big films FOOL N FINAL, PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN and SHREK 3 making them virtually extinct from the theaters. A sad state of affairs, though one hopes that they manage to make their presence felt in the DVD circuits soon.
"Mine is a true 'seeti-maar' role in RAQEEB" - Jimmy Sheirgil
After DELHII HEIGHTS that has Jimmy Sheirgill in a central role comes RAQEEB - RIVALS IN LOVE. And Jimmy is highly excited about it! Ask him why and he replies, "Well, I have been looking for different kind of roles in each of my releases and the track record over the last few months, if one looks at BAS EK PAL, EKLAVYA - THE ROYAL GUARD, DELHII HEIGHTS and now RAQEEB - RIVALS IN LOVE says it all. So after playing horde of exciting characters, RAQEEB has me playing a struggling actor who has been going through a screwed up career and now wants to give one last shot to make his life rock." So how does his character come on screen? "My character is that of a struggler with grey shades and I can assure you that whenever I come on screen, there would be 'seetis' and 'taalis' all over. Director Anurag Singh has ensured that mine is a true 'seeti-maar' role in the film. So be ready for the fun and thrills", he concludes.
