Ravana is ready

The highly expected film in the career of senior actor of Kannada cinema dynamic star Devaraj 'Prachanda Ravana' directed by youngster Srinivasaprasad is ready to hit the screen this Friday 23 all over Karnataka with 35 prints. Devaraj is anxious about the results. He is shivering like a new hero as this film is very special in his career. He had the theatre background but mythological film is his first attempt. From the SMS poll done by 'New Wave' production team actor Devaraj has been picked to play the title role in 'Prachanda Ravana'. The reason why this top actor of Kannada cinema Devaraj is finding it very special because the film is based on the 50 years old theatre play of the same title written by stalwart writer of Kannada cinema and theatre Kanagal Prabhakara Sastry. This stage play is very popular in Karnataka because actor late Vajramuni performed it in a chilling style. Now Devaraj calculation is obvious. He is feeling as if he had written LKG exams. The comparison made by people from rural side especially is keeping his fingers crossed. The old Kannada style is tongue twisting and Devaraj has taken six days to dub for this film. From last one and half years Srinivasaprasad and Giri are making this movie and expecting the breakthrough. Kanagal Prabhakara Sastry's son Kanagal Purushottam has given tips to the youngsters to make the film successfully. For the yesteryears theatre songs scored by Vajrappa it is Mysore Gopi the longtime associate with Hamsalekha retuned the songs to suit the present genre. Bharat Bagavathar plays Hanuman while television actress Rajeswari is in the role of Seethe. Nitin is in Lord Sri Rama's role.

The mythological film 'Prachanda Ravana' by New Wave Production starring dynamic hero Devaraj in the title role audio cassettes and CD was released by top south Indian actress Dr.B.Saroja Devi at a crowded gathering in Rejoyz Digital auditorium in Malleawaram Bangalore recently. The New Wave Production team created a new wave firstly by evincing interest in the mythological film production and secondly honoring the two yesteryear giant stage performers Nagarathanamma and musician Paramashivan for their meritorious contribution on the occasion of audio release of the film 'Prachanda Ravana'. Dr.B.Saroja Devi and Master Hirannaiah the doyen of theatre plays honored the two veterans in a touching style before the audio release of the film 'Prachanda Ravana'. Doing the honors and releasing the audio cassettes and CD's Dr.B.Saroja Devi felt there is a grave need for mythological films because it will enlighten the younger generation of our traditional values of the past. Instead of making films in which the young children run away from the home attempt should be made on mythological and historical films opined Dr.B.Saroja Devi. The proper diction of Kannada language could be found only in the yesteryear stage plays and mythological films felt the stormy speaker and great theatre personality Master Hirannaiah. Smt.Nagarathnamma the 85 years powerful stage artist in her heydays recited the 'Kamsa Swapna' incident in the ancient Kannada style. The 77 years Paramashivan went back to the 1940's and rendered a theatre song written by father Master Hirannaiah. Ravana might be in Lanka again

Mani Rathnam's Ravana, which was halted by the forest department of Kerala in Malayatoor forest range near Kochi in Kerala, might resume again from Tuesday. Sources close to Mani Ratnam, said, "We would try to convince the forest officials and seek their approval to continue shooting from Tuesday. In case, the forest department denies permission to continue shooting, the alternative choice would be to shoot in the jungles of Sri Lanka." The forest officials found that the director had constructed temporary thatched huts in prohibited areas inside the forest. After the forest department found the violation, they ordered the shooting to be stopped. The film unit claims that they had put up temporary huts to protect their costly equipments from the incessant rains in the area. The Tamil version features Vikram, Prithviraj and Priyamani among others.
