Rohit Shetty has taken up a great challenge

For a long time Hindi cinema buffs had not fallen in love with the a hero and his perfect supporting lead as they had for Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi in both of the movies in the 'Munna Bhai' series. There was a sort of virtuousness and exemplary originality in these two brilliantly made characters which made them so adorable. Munna Bhai and Circuit were the creations of RajKumar Hirani and his team of writers. Attempting to cast Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi as buddies in a film other than one belonging to the 'Munna Bhai' series is without doubt a great risk because of the natural comparisons that are going to be made by the audience. But Rohit Shetty, the maker of the super hit hilarious film 'Golmaal' and the forthcoming 'Golmaal Returns' is already on his way with the idea of creating a comedy movie with two new entirely different characters for Sanjay and Arshad. The movie which hopes to tap the incredible screen chemistry of Sanjay and Arshad which can be rightly called one of the best ever in Bollywood has been named as 'Johnny Johnny Yes Papa'. What is the story line and how the movie is going to shape up is not yet known. Comparisons will be made and lets see how smart Rohit is in giving his two lead characters an entirely different feel.

Rohit Shetty strikes hat-trick with ‘Golmaal 3′ this Diwali

Director Rohit Shetty’s third instalment in the “Golmaal” franchise came out with triple aces this Diwali with over 90 percent occupancy in its initial weekend. It has beaten Vipul Shah’s “Action Replayy”. “‘Golmaal 3′ has done extremely well while ‘Action Replayy’ had a poor start and was only average over the weekend,” trade analyst Amod Mehra said on phone from Mumbai. Both movies opened on Diwali, Friday. While advance bookings for “Golmaal 3″ were too strong till Sunday, Akshay Kumar-Aishwarya Rai starrer period comedy “Action Replayy” picked up gradually after a dull start on the first day. The trade reports say “Golmaal 3″ raked in around Rs.32 crore in the first three days, while “Action Replayy” earned only half of it – Rs.16.75 crore during the same period. Most of the multiplexes are not so excited with the content of the movies, but at the same time they are happy with the business from “Golmaal 3″. ” ‘Golmaal 3′ has been appreciated a lot and the occupancy over the weekend was over 90 percent. While audiences are not really taking well to Akshay and Aishwarya’s period stint in ‘Action Replayy’. It has had an initial occupancy of only 60-70 percent,” Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (Cinemas) of Wave Cinemas told IANS. “We’ve had 10-12 shows per property on an average for both the movies and considering that no big releases are coming out next Friday, ‘Golmaal 3′ should have an extended run. It does have a shelf life,” he added. Jayendra Banerji, vice president (Operations) of Satyam Cineplexes, said: “The weekend was good as both the movies did good business and had an occupancy between 90-100 percent. ‘Golmaal 3′ was slightly better with 80 percent occupancy and good reviews from audiences while ‘Action Replayy’ had around 65-70 percent footfall.” With an unprecedented buzz before their release, “Golmaal 3″ cashed in on the rapport of its previous two outings. While Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor reprised their roles in part three, Kunal Khemu and Mithun Chakraborty came as new additions to the cast. “Action Replayy”, on the other hand, saw Akshay and Aishwarya together as a couple for the first time, but failed to create a spark considering the initial audience reaction. Srikant, a college student who went to watch the movie with his friends, says he had a rollicking time. “We just loved the movie. It is a ‘paisa vasool, time pass’ laugh riot,” he told IANS. PVR Cinemas ran around eight to nine shows of both the movies on an average per property across Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR). A source from the multiplex chain said that “Golmaal 3″ did a good business, but the content is disappointing. “The weekend was terrific. ‘Golmaal 3′ and ‘Action Replayy’ both did well. But the content of both the movies has not been appreciated that much. It was only due to the pre-release hype that these got a good footfall,” said the source. Kanika Jain, an ardent movie fan, too complained about the content saying. “There is no content in ‘Golmaal 3′. It was pathetic. I walked out half way.”

Rohit Shetty to blow up 20 cars for 'Singham'

Bollywood director Rohit Shetty, known for his flair for comedy, has decided to blow up 20 cars for the opening sequence of his upcoming "Singham" as he does not want to compromise on high-octane action scenes. "The scene is set in a parking lot where a kidnapping takes place. It is a chase scene between Ajay (Devgn) and some gangsters for which we will require to blow up cars. In the shot, there will be about 200 cars out of which we will blow up 20 cars," Shetty said in a press statement. The movie is a remake of a Tamil action film of the same name. Shetty, who has made movies like "Sunday", the "Golmaal" series and "All the Best: Fun Begins", is quite charged up and has decided to himself conceptualise, design and execute the action for the film. Produced by Reliance Pictures, the film also features southern actress Kajal Agarwal. Both lead actors will be joining the crew in Goa as "Singam" goes on floors Wednesday. It will release in July. Hopefully this sentiment of Rohit works too in Singam.

Bollywood director Rohit Shetty is gearing up to remake Tamil hit movie Vijay Sethupathi’s Soodhu Kavvum. To be produced by Rohit under Rohit Shetty Entertainment Pvt Ltd, this film will hit the floors from mid 2014. Rohit Shetty is impressed with Soodhu Kavvum story line that he is keen on either directing or producing the movie and apparently acquired the remake rights. UTV Movies, Fox Movies and Endemol India were among the others in rush for Soodhu Kavvum remake rights. Currently, Rohit Shetty is busy with his Ajay Devagan starring Singham 2, written and directed by him. For now, Imran Khan and Shraddha Kapoor are expected to play the leads in Soodhu Kavvum remake while Sudeep's name is also being considered to play Vijay Sethupathi’s role. Rohit, Kohli, Dhawan guide India to 9-wicket win over Australia

Superlative batting by Rohit Sharma (141 not out), Virat Kohli (100 not out) and Shikhar Dhawan (95) helped India comfortably chase down Australia's mammoth target of 359 for five in 43.3 overs and win their second ODI by nine wickets at the Sawai Mansingh stadium here Wednesday. India scored 362 for one to record their highest and the overall second highest ODI chase so far, tying the seven-match ODI series against the visitors 1-1. Having put up 359 for five, Australia seemed to have batted India out of the game but Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Kohli played superbly to comfortably overhaul the Australian score.

Rohit Shetty is new generation's Manmohan Desai: Kareena

Kareena Kapoor says that Rohit Shetty, who has mastered the art of churning out fast-paced action-packed dramas, is the Manmohan Desai of the current generation. Desai, the man behind hits like "Amar Akbar Anthony", "Naseeb", "Coolie", and "Mard", catered to the masses with his typical masala potboilers. "I chose to do 'Singham Returns' because it's a Rohit Shetty film. I am a huge fan of Rohit and according to me, Rohit is the Manmohan Desai of this generation," said Kareena, who had featured in Shetty's hit comedies "Golmaal 4" and "Golmaal 3". "He is fantastic and which actress would not want to be part of his films. He has given me my careers biggest hits and third one is on the way. He is written this role especially for me. It has Rohit, Ajay Devgn and this is more my home than anything else." In "Singham Returns", this big screen diva will be seen mouthing abusive language. She said: "There is no 'Lavani dance' number as such, but I have spoken in fluent Marathi. I picked it up quite fast and I have given a lot of gaalis in Marathi so it was a lot of fun shooting for the film."
