Richard aka Rishi, brother-in-law of Ajith, is hopeful that 'Thamizhagam' will make it big. The young lad made his debut with 'Kadhal Virus' and then rechristened his name from Richard to Rishi in search of success. Rishi is shooting in Ooty for 'Yean Ippadi Mayakkinai', directed by 'Sillunu Oru Kadhal' fame Krishna. On his brother-in-law Ajith, Rishi says, "He is a source of inspiration for me. He had no backing and it was his self confidence that propelled him to great heights in filmdom. I want to act with Ajith. But, I would like to prove myself before sharing screen space with my sister's husband". "I play a police officer in 'Thamizhagam' while 'Yean Ippadi Mayakkinai' is a musical thriller. I play a salsa teacher in the movie".
Rishi Kapoor like a father to me, says Abhishek Bachchan
Actor Abhishek Bachchan is extremely fond of his "All Is Well" co-star Rishi Kapoor who is "like a father" to him. "You cannot bring your personal life in front of the camera. Personally I love him. He is like a father to me. I'm a huge fan of his. But I cannot bring it in the film because that is the opposite of what I'm meant to play with him in the film," said Abhishek about translating the off-screen camaraderie to on-screen chemistry in the film where they play a father-son duo. Actor Supriya Pathak and director Umesh Shukla were also present at a special promotional interaction with the media. "What our relationship is in real life is of no importance in front of the camera. We have to enact our characters. The two characters that we have in the film are of a father and son who don't get along. They keep fighting. I think he troubles me a lot and he thinks I trouble him a lot. You see those shades that banter keeps on going throughout the film. At the end of the day, we're actors and our job is to perform in front of the camera," said Abhishek. "All Is Well" is slated to release on 21 August and also stars Asin in the lead role. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series among others.
From Richard to Rishi
Ajith's brother-in-law and up-and-coming actor Richard had been part of several films including 'Kadhal Virus' and 'Naalai'. Though he has the right looks and acting skills, he is still to make a mark for himself in Kollywood. Now he has opted to change his name looking for better fortunes. Richard has rechristened himself as Rishi for his forthcoming venture 'En Ippadi Makkinaai' to be produced by Kovai Thambi and directed by 'Sillunu Oru Kadhal' fame Krishna. It may be recalled that recently actor Vignesh had changed his name to Vigneshwaran, while T Rajendher changed his name to Vijaya T Rajendher.
Richard alias Rishi plays tough cop
Its now the turn of 'Kadhal Virus' Richard, who has rechristened himself as Rishi, to play a cop in a movie titled 'Thamizhagam'. As already published Vishal too is playing a cop in the film 'Sathyam'. 'Thamizhagam' is directed by debutant Suresh Kumar, and has musical score by Asif Ali, son of the Prince of Arcot, Nawab Muhammad Abdul Ali. Stunt director Rocky Rajesh, who has choreographed the action sequences for many Vijayakanth and Vijay films, makes his debut as an actor with this film. 'Thamizhagam' is expected to be a cocktail of emotions laced with humor and sentiments. 'We shot a stunt sequence in the busy roads of Poonamallee. It would be the major highlight of the movie', says Suresh Kumar. The cast includes Archana, Karunaas, Devan, Malaysia Vasudevan, Kalairani and Ajay.
Vijay s risky adventures in Sura
As day passes, expectations are also reaching sky on Vijay’s 50th film ‘Sura’. The movie is being presented by Sun Pictures and directed by S P Rajkumar. Beautifull actress Tamannaah is playing the female lead. On speaking about the film, director says “This film will be equivalent to 10 films that Vijay has so far acted. There will be so many actions and sensations. Though the film has all the ingredients like action, romance, comedy and dance as in Vijay films, the basic root of this film is the screenplay. Every scene will make his fans applaud, because every scene including the climax will be new to the audience. Vijay, who takes risk in the action scenes of all his films, has also taken risk in this film by swimming half a mile in the sea and stunned the crew by doing this scene without using dupe. Vijay is playing the role of fisherman who lives for the sake of others and not for himself and Tamannaah is playing a rich and bubbly college girl role.
'Miruthan' was a risky proposition for Jayam Ravi: Director
Director Shakti Soundar Rajan says it was really brave of actor Jayam Ravi to work in his forthcoming thriller "Miruthan", which happens to be Tamil cinema's first zombie film, despite knowing how much risk was involved. "It was an experiment that could've gone wrong and Ravi could've gone from a star with two back-to-back hits to butt of all jokes in the industry. It was a risky proposition, nevertheless he accepted the project with a lot of excitement," Rajan told. All it took the "Naaigal Jaakirathai" director to convince Ravi was one meeting. "He instantly agreed, though he requested two days time to officially come on board. My producer, Michael Rayappan, was equally gutsy, because rarely will you find someone willing to bet on a zombie film," he said. Having already made two films in different genres, Rajan says he chose to work in the zombie genre because he loves to work within the limitations of a genre. "I find that exciting and challenging. After my last film, which turned out to be hugely successful, I had the opportunity to make a film on a large canvas; something bigger than my previous films in terms of budget, too," he said. Shining more light on the film, he said he'd like to view it as a sci-fi action film. "Although there's zombie angle in the story, I personally like to view this as a high-octane action film, which has appropriate amount of gore, acceptable by Tamil cinema standard," he said, and added shooting the climatic action sequence was very challenging. The scene features nearly 500 junior artists as zombies. "Logistically, shooting it was a nightmare. The 500 junior artists would start getting ready with make-up at 1 a.m. and they'd finally get done by 10 a.m.," he recalled. A team of 40 worked in the make-up department, which didn't feature a single foreign artist. "I did not see the need to hire workforce from abroad, though we imported necessary material. Instead, we brought make-up artists who had worked on several Tamil period films," he said. The film, which releases worldwide on February 12, is high on visual effects (VFX) and Rajan hopes most of it will be invisible for naked eye. "There are about 1000 VFX shots and out of which audience may identify 10-15, while the rest will be too difficult to make out," he said. Rajan also brushed aside rumours regarding the film being based on "Warm Bodies" among other Hollywood zombie films. "I find such claims very silly," Rajan said, adding: "There are about 400-500 zombie films. In all of them, you will find similarities, like how the virus is born and how it turns people into zombies." Ravi plays a traffic inspector in the film, which also features Lakshmi Menon.
