YRF - Jugal Hansraj film titled ROADSIDE ROMEO?

Is the directorial debut of Jugal Hansraj titled ROADSIDE ROMEO? That's the speculation going around the town ever since news came in that actor Jugal Hansraj has been roped in by Yash Raj Films to direct their first ever animation film. Another highlight of this film is that it won't be based on human beings but, hold your breath, dogs! Hence the title ROADSIDE ROMEO! To add spice to the flavor, there are also rumors of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor being roped in to give voiceover for the two dogs who are the prime protagonists in the film. Will there be an official confirmation soon?

"It was fun dubbing for Roadside Romeo" - Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor has stepped into Angelina Jolie's shoes. No, no apni Kareena hasn't replaced the firangi Jolie in any Hollywood film but like Angelina who enjoys dubbing for animated characters, Kareena too completed dubbing for one recently. A close friend of the actress revealed, "Kareena just completed dubbing for Roadside Romeo. This is Yashraj Films' animation film. Kareena had fun giving various sounds for her animated character in the film." The source adds, "Before proceeding with the dubbing, Kareena heard the story and made sincere efforts to understand the character that she dubbed for. Kareena knew that it is her voice that will put across the emotions on screen. It was hard work but after watching the end result Kareena felt all the efforts were worth it. She even saw Kung Fu Panda for which Angelina Jolie dubbed for." It may be known that Kareena and Saif have been roped in to dub for the main characters in Roadside Romeo that marks the debut of Jugal Hansraj as a director. Says Kareena, "It was fun dubbing for Road Side Romeo. It's for the first time ever that an actress has dubbed for an animation film and since it was a first of sorts, it was particularly challenging." Trust Kareena to always be a trendsetter.

Kareena demonstrates her 'ada' for ROADSIDE ROMEO

Forget the Pooja of TASHAN, Kareena is all set to be seen in an altogether different avtar for Yash Raj Film's next production. Soon she would be heard as Laila and the film which would be giving her this platform is ROADSIDE ROMEO. ROADSIDE ROMEO - Well, that's the first ever animation outing for YRF where Kareena along with Saif Ali Khan would be giving a voiceover for the dogs. In fact it is going to be a Kareena v/s Kareena outing since ROADSIDE ROMEO would be arriving on 24th October while GOLMAAL RETURNS would be hitting the screens on 29th October. Though the first look of ROADSIDE ROMEO (featuring Saif Ali Khan's voice) was revealed months back when this Jugal Hansraj film was slated for Summer 2008 release, a delay to Diwali has resulted in the makers arriving with a new promo with Kareena in focus this time around. As Laila, the female dog who comes to give an audition for a heroine's role, Kareena gets the right 'ada' in place to demonstrate the naughty-yet-smart streak. She doesn't just tease the casting director with her monosyllabic yet confident replies, she also intimidates him with her smartness. Not just that, she also flutters her eyelashes when the right arrives and gives a lot more than just a simple message when the director probes deeper into skills. How exactly? Well, she just replies that she knows 'everything - just about everything'! Paving a way for far more interesting things to come as the film arrives in entirety, the special promo of ROADSIDE ROMEO has already made quite a splash! ROADSIDE ROMEO is slated to be the biggest animation movie ever coming from the house of Yash Raj Films with music by Salim-Sulaiman. The other star attraction of the film is Javed Jaffrey who also gives a voiceover for a dog.

"Tension Not", "Stay Cool" and "I'm Good Na" - That's Roadside Romeo

HotMuggs, a stylized drink ware concept, has entered into an alliance with Yash Raj Films for producing licensed merchandise on Roadside Romeo. With about a dozen characters in Roadside Romeo, this is the first animated film - an India-U.S. co-production of Yash Raj Films and the Walt Disney Company, and is scheduled for release on October 24, 2008. With the concept of film merchandising catching on in the Indian film industry, HotMuggs has incorporated a first time concept of incorporating cool one-liners from the movie like "Tension Not", "Stay Cool" and "I'm Good Na" on the muggs. These mugs not only appeal to the movie lovers but also to a wider audience who emote with the appeal and positioning of the characters from the movie. The merchandise has been designed, manufactured and marketed by Hot Muggs, and will be available at malls, bookstores, and concept shops in over 40 cities across the country. Hot Muggs plans to promote the merchandise through a multi-channel promotion campaign with emphasis on below-the-line activities and other promotional programs. Mr.Rishi Jain, Managing Director ' HotMuggs, said, "The product class of Hot Muggs, the concept of entertainment, funkiness, adventure, adaptability has an ideal connect with Roadside Romeo. Characters such a Romeo - a small cute looking pet of a super rich human family, Laila - the hottest girl ever, Charlie Anna - the dreaded Don of the Slum, these characters lend itself to being merchandised. We are upbeat about the fact that we are not just offering a product or merchandise, but an object of desire that one would want to own." With Indians investing lots of time and passion in Bollywood and cricket, often labeled as national obsessions, sports and film merchandising too are in nascent stages.
