Remix of 'Tu Hi Meri Shab' rocks at the right time

Call it great planning but the way with which the remix version of 'Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai [Gangster] has hit the screens; it is nothing but sheer timing. Since the very first instance of the movie being promoted when its first trailer was shown alongside the movie screening of 'Kalyug', the buzz around the film has only grown with every passing week. Especially in last one month, there has been no looking back for the movie as the music by Pritam has taken a superhit status and the talkie promos have done the trick too. Now with the arrival of remix version of 'Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai', the craze for the film has reached an all time high as the rocking number is accompanied by a fast paced jazzed up video that incorporates shots from the movie alongside lip synching by Emran Hashmi and Kangna Ranuat.

Take the global rock star home

The man-with-the-cap wants to remain in news one way or the other. Alright he has had a great first half of 2006 when he had several hits to his name (before he holds my neck'.Lemme make it 36 hits), a successful trip to US and UK with his dance troupe and a 'slap on the face in print' from Asha Bhosle for comparing his nasal disaster with the legend of RD Burman. Well, the irrepressible self-anointed-genius is back. A half page advertisement in one of the leading newspapers today claims that Himesh will be performing live 'Aap Ka Suroor-Live in concert' at a city hotel this New Year's. Now, what caught my eye was this line: 'Buy tickets to the concert and you can be one of the lucky three to take the global rock star home.' Now, Reshamiyya is pushing his luck a bit too much. For he doesn't know what a 'global rock star' means. Is he in the same league as Pink Floyd, Metallica, Aerosmith, Scorpion, Eagles, Deep Purple? The kind of hard work these guys have put in for years together is unprecedented. And their fan following cuts across the spectrum. Regaling an expatriate audience abroad in a few shows doesn't make Himesh Reshamiya a global rock star by any standards. There have been reports about Himesh saying that his debut as an actor in 'Aap Ka Suroor' will result in an appeal far more captivating than all the three Khans put together. This narcissistic streak is getting a wee bit too much. He should decide first of all what and who he is? A global rock star or an actor better than anybody else? Don't be surprised if you hear from him next that he is on top of Hollywood and Tom Cruise is his disciple. The suroor of success is getting nauseating now'. I guess Cruise must be laughing by now'

Bappi Lahri: The Rockstar Rocks Again

He has had been a butt of many a joke because of his flashy gold jewellery and for being 'inspired' by tunes from English pop tunes, but still you just can't ignore Bappi Lahri. The man with a sweet voice and a fantastic music sense lofted into the public imagination once again recently as he was one of the three celebrity judges of the hugely popular 'L'il Champs' reality television show. What's heartening to note is that Bappi Da is getting back to the big league in a different avatar. After having sung the tapori number 'Mumbai Nagaria' in 'Taxi Number 9 2 11' for composer duo Vishal-Shekhar, the original rockstar is gonna be heard in the soundtrack of Mani Rathnam's 'Guru' where he has sang an A R Rahman beauty. Bappi Lahri is best remembered for his Kishore Kumar number 'Chalte Chalte Mere Ye Geet Yaad Rakhna'.Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna'' It is one of Kishore's best. 'Disco Dancer', 'Yaad Aa Raha Hai Tera Pyaar', 'Namak Halal, 'Sharaabi''The list of hits from Bappi Lahri factory is a long one. 'Kaliyon Ka Chaman Ye Kehta Hai'.''Heard this one'Of course you have'Meghna Naidu sprang into prominence with the video of this remix'But very few know that the original composer of this song is Bappi Da'.He also won a court case against a US rap band which had used the loop of the original song in one of their experimental numbers. It's good to find Bappi Lahri back in action. Both as a composer as well as a singer. It was heartening to note how compassionately he handled the kids while giving them tips. 'L'il Champs' has surely helped him rise in the public eye both as a fine music man as well as a good human being. Looking forward to hearing more from Bappi Lahri in the future'

Song with the true spirit of Rock

We have seen great changes in the way the Bollywood music have shaped up in the recent years. Some years back Hindi Pop music and B-Town music had separate boundaries. Later on the boundaries melted off leaving the pop music and film music to have little differences between them. This also resulted in lots of musicians joining in the ranks of singers and composers in Bollywood and the face and old techniques of Hindi film music becoming more global, stylish, peppy and loud with ample borrowings from lots of genres of music from around the world. Later on slowly the style of pure rock music was tried to be incorporated into a lot of new songs by adding on electric leads, and vocal patterns created taking inspiration from the western style rock singing. But still if you ask any hardcore followers of classic rock music and the different more heavy sub genres of this form of music who frequently gets exposed with the Bollywood music too, if they have ever heard a Hindi film song that can match up with the raw intensity, power, attitude and energy of Rock music, the answer will most probably be a big 'No'. So it is high time for a drastic change to touch the shores of Bollywood. That's what 'Aryans' must have felt before they created the song 'Kyun' for the launch pad film of the hero Sikander Kher. 'Aryans' the most popular Hindi Rock and Pop Music group in India has come out with the song 'Kyun' for the film 'Woodstock Villa' produced by White Feather Films & Sanjay Gupta . Music of the film will be brought out by T-Series. 'Aryans' who have been nominated multiple times for the music channel awards and have created the largest number of albums in India have called this song as a tribute to pure rock and claims that this song which comes at a very crucial time in the film promises to have a true rock feel, lots of power chords, heavy drum patterns and great lead guitar patterns Adding to the strength of the song is none other Sanjay Dutt who will be seen singing the song as he portrays the role of a rock star in 'Woodstock Villa'. Sanjay Dutt's presence in the video of the song is said to have made the song all the more powerful. As the 'Aryans' music have always been a great mix of original melodies and good rhythms, much can be expected from this song as it's the first song to be composed by 'Aryans' made up of DJ Narain, Sadu, Yakub and Sunny for a film. They indeed must be hoping to start a new trend of pure rock inspired song making in Bollywood and let loose the start of a new music revolution in B-Town. By this song sung by Narain and Sadu the 'Aryans' want to introduce a 100% rock song that will become the new benchmark called 'rock' for the music of Mumbai's tinsel world. Let's hope the rock song will really rock

Actress Lisa Ray, who essays a secret agent in the upcoming romantic film "Ishq Forever", sports a chic look in the movie, courtesy designer Rocky S. Commenting on her look for the film, Lisa said in a statement: "I love Rocky's signature edgy glam style and it's perfect for this role. He's very choosy about styling for films as his fashion line is doing so well, so I'm thrilled he styled me for 'Ishq Forever'." Produced by Ajay Shah, Harry Gandhi and Shabbir Boxwala, "Ishq Forever", directed by Sameer Sippy, has been majorly shot in Cape Town. Lisa, 43, will be seen doing some serious action in the movie too. It will release in November.
