Actress - turned - politician Roja is acting as Sathyaraj's wife in Gurukshetram, a movie directed by Jayabharathy. Talking about her role, she says, 'I play an elderly woman's role in the movie which has a good scope to perform'. Many senior actresses are taking to mom's roles in Kollywood. So would Roja too join the bandwagon? When asked, Roja's immediate reply is a big 'no'. The actress says, 'I am too young for such roles'. 'Certainly not for senior heroes acting in Tamil now. Perhaps I can play their elder sister or sister-in-law'. Denying rumors that she is playing Prashanth's mom in Pulan Visranai II being directed by her husband Selvamani, Roja says, 'I accept movies where I have a chance to perform. Otherwise I am not interested for the sake of money'. 'I had acted as Prithviraj's mother in Parijatham for it was a tailor-made role for me and more over Bhagyaraj is wielding the megaphone for the movie'.
Roja returns
Following the footsteps of Kushboo, Ramya Krishnan and Nadhiya, it's now Roja's turn to play mom for the current generation heroes. It is a known fact that Roja stopped acting in films after entering into full time politics. However, the actress, who is now an active office bearer of Telugu Desam Party, has agreed to act in the Bharath starrer 'Killadi'. If reports are to be believed, she accepted the offer after much goading from director A Venkatesh, who has given a restart to the film after a break. Industry buzz is that Roja would play Nila's mother in 'Killadi', an out and out commercial venture. The actress was last seen as Prithviraj's mom in 'Parijatham'.

Actress Roja, gave birth to a baby boy at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The actress, who made her debut with Sembaruthi directed by R K Selvamani, fell in love with him and married him a few years before. She took to politics and contested in vain in the last Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. Currently, she is acting with Sathyaraj in a movie called Gurushethram. Roja, who already has a girl child, was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad on Wednesday where she delivered the baby boy. Selvamani, who was by her side, celebrated the occasion by distributing sweets to everyone in the hospital.
