The blockbuster Tamil movie Pithamagan is being remade in Kannada starring Upendra in Vikram's role. Pithamagan directed by Bala went on to become a huge hit and even fetched Vikram the national award for the best actor. In the Kannada remake version Sangavi is playing the role which Sangeetha featured in Tamil. However for an item song in which Simran appears herself, the director has opted for Ramba. Ramba, a once popular heroine in Tamil and Kannada filmdom, has danced for a song shot in remote villages in Karnataka.
Ramba hospitalized
Actress Ramba was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai on Monday following food poisoning. She was given immediate medical aid and her condition is said to be stable. A popular actress Ramba is currently hosting a dance show called 'Maanada Mayilada' for a private satellite channel. The whole crew of the show was by her side at the hospital. Ramba stormed Tamil Cinema with 'Uzhavan' opposite Prabhu. She followed it up with films like 'Ullathai Alli Tha', 'Arunachalam', 'Kadhala Kadhala' among others. She produced and enacted a major role in 'Three Roses'. Ramba is also a very popular actress in Tollywood. Ever since she was hospitalized rumors were abuzz that she had attempted suicide. However sources close to the actress confirmed that it was due to food poisoning.
Ramba gears up to thrill
Actress Ramba will be playing the lead role in a Telugu suspense thriller titled 'Prathi Kshanam'. Produced by Parijaya Creations, the movie is directed by a Chennai Film institute student Vyas. Says Ramba, ' for the first time I am acting in a suspense thriller. True to the title, the audience will feel the tension every second.' 'Thrillers are generally associated with violence or bloodshed. But, I don't like these things. So, it is a cool thriller and all sections of the audience, including children are sure to enjoy it'.
Ramba and her plans
Actress Ramba has acted in over 100 films in her career in South Indian filmdom and Bollywood. She has been one of the most successful actresses in the film industry having paired with Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijaykanth, Vijay, Arjun and many more. She has also acted in a few Bhojpuri and Bengali films. Currently the actress has completed shooting for 'Vidiyum Varai Kathiru' in which she costars with Prakashraj. Ramba is hopeful that the thriller, being made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu would do well at the box-office. Says Ramba, "I will continue to play heroine in films". However the actress says that she has drastically cut down on the number of films she does as she is keen only on performance oriented roles. On hosting a dance show in a TV channel, she says, "Initially I was hesitant. But the response has been amazing. I enjoy doing the show and judging new talent. Once I retire, I may think about entering the television industry acting in mega serials'.
Ravishing Ramba returns
After almost three years, actress Ramba makes her comeback in Kollywood with 'Vidiyum Varai Kathiru'. A once sought-after glam doll, Ramba had played her part exceedingly well in several films including Rajinikanth's 'Arunachalam' and Kamal Haasan's 'Kadhala Kadhala'. She even ventured to produce a movie titled 'Three Roses' which featured Jyothika and Laila besides her. Ramba, who established a place for herself in Tollywood, is now hosting a dance show in a private satellite channel. Says Ramba, ' I was waiting for the right script. Though several offers came my way, I was not keen on making a hurried return. Fortunately the right script came my way with 'Vidiyum Varai Kathiru'. The movie features Prakash Raj in the lead role. Plans are on to make the film simultaneously in Telugu as well.
Reentry of Ramba
Remember Ramba? The glam doll of late nineties has been away from Kollywood for quit some time following some failures and bitter experiences over her own production and a case related to financial issues. In the meantime, she had gone to Bojpuri following some chances to act in films in the language. Now she is all set to make a come back. She has been signed for a movie titled 'Chinna Veedu'. The movie talks about the habits of men maintaining secret and sustained relationships with girls even before marriage. K. Veera, director of the movie, says, "We have five heroines reflecting the qualities of five elements". He has the experience of directing nine films in Telugu. To match the five heroines, 'Chinna Veedu' has two heroes in Jai Akash and Vikramaditya. The unit has planned a 10 day schedule in Bangkok to shoot a song. For Ramba, who debuted in Tamil (Ullathai Alli Tha), it is just home coming. We wish the actress a successful second innings in Kollywood.
