Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor says that he is grateful to the Bombay High Court for asking Excel Entertainment to give him due credit for co-writing the story for "Rock On 2", which is the sequel of 2008 film "Rock On!!" "I am grateful to the high court for recognising my contribution to the creation of this project. This is a victory for all creative people who have perhaps struggled for the right of recognition. I wish the film the very best," Kapoor said in a statement. Kapoor, writer and director of "Rock On!!", had filed a case against Excel Entertainment, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar at the Bombay High Court on March 18, this year when he learnt that he was not being given due credit for co-writing the story for the movie's sequel. The court on Monday passed a judgment in favour of Kapoor, ruling that he should be given story credit for the movie. Before filing the lawsuit at the Bombay High Court, the case was first presented to the Film Writers Association (FWA) who initially gave Kapoor a "Story By" credit based on the Dispute Settlement committee's review of the partial correspondence between him and co-writer Pubali Chaudhari. Upon Chaudhari challenging the verdict, an appellate board altered the original "Story By" credit to a "Story Idea By" credit for Kapoor without any clear communication on the rationale behind the change of decision. Seeing the lack of transparency in evaluation, Kapoor decided to appeal to the High Court. As per the court, on every occasion and space where "Story By" is mentioned, his name has to be included. Thus, in addition to opening credits, wherever credit for the story or screenplay writer appears, joint credit shall also be given to Kapoor.

Glamourous roles require acting too: Deepika Padukone
Mumbai, May 28 (IANS) Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who is usually seen in glamorous roles like in "Housefull" and "Break Ke Baad", argues that it is a misconception such roles do not involve serious acting. "It's a misconception that glamourous roles don't involve the actor to act. This is not true because in the West you have Julia Roberts doing really glamorous roles and you still notice her performance and notice how great she looks," Deepika told reporters here. The 25-year-old actress will next be seen in Prakash Jha's film "Aarakshan", based on caste-based reservations.
My roles in 'Rock On 2!!', Azhar are diverse: Prachi Desai
Actress Prachi Desai says she has diverse roles to play in her new films "Rock on 2!!" and "Azhar". The former is a sequel of the 2008 Indian rock music drama which marked Prachi's film debut, while "Azhar" is a biopic on former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin. At an event for Forevermark Diamond Jewellery here on Thursday, the actress shared that the "Rock On 2!!" shooting has partly begun and that the first schedule of "Azhar" is "done". "It's pretty exciting. I'm doing two very diverse films and diverse roles," Prachi said. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, "Azhar" features Emraan Hashmi in Azharuddin's role, while Prachi is said to be essaying his first wife Naureen. She says the challenge of doing both the films is "to bring out the distinction between the two roles". "I have been taking references as I have not done any real life character before. People really don't know about Naureen (Azhar's wife), so it's going to be little challenging to put a face to her onscreen. With 'Rock On 2!!', there is challenge to make the film better than the first."
'Aegan' rules the roost
The Ajith starrer 'Aegan' has taken a bumper opening across all centers in Tamilnadu. The movie starring Ajith, Nayantara and Jayaram, was released with over 150 prints on Saturday. Though the film managed an average word-of-mouth review among movie-buffs, Ajith fans have thronged theatres in large numbers all across the state. Produced by Ayngaran Internationals and directed by Raju Suindaram, the movie was inspired by the Hindi hit 'Main Hoon Na'. The festive collections were 100 per cent at the box office for the film. Ajith fans are thrilled with their favorite hero being portrayed as a one-man army. Says an avid-fan, 'we are not bothered about the reviews. Our Ajith has performed really well. It has everything in it to please ardent Ajith fans' The other big release 'Seval', directed by Hari featured Bharath, Simran and Poonam Bajwa in lead roles. The film opened in theatres on Monday. However Ajith's 'Aegan' seems to be overshadowing 'Seval' in all centers. With no other big release this Deepavali, it looks likely that 'Aegan' will be the numero uno film followed closely by Seval, a commercial formula film by Hari.
